Police Stories

Online co-op in Police Stories

After a successful Kickstarter campaign (thank you all once more!) we realized that before implementing any new features we needed to focus on proper online support since everything else needs to be properly synchronized with it.

It took a bit longer than expected, but online co-op in Police Stories finally works, and does it quite well! Which means that now you can host and join other players to complete the campaign together. We are so delighted with the results that we’re now thinking about special multiplayer modes as well. Yet there are no specific plans, so stay tuned for more news on that ;)

We hope to add "couch" co-op too since it won't take long but we need to add controller support first.

Co-op and 2 new levels will be available in Closed Beta for Kickstarter backers ($30+ tiers). We're going to send Beta keys on September 13.

[UPDATE: we need some more time to polish Beta. It won't take long, sorry]

See you!

Publisher & Story Mode

Every cop needs good backup - John has his trusted partner Rick, and now we’re finally ready to announce ours. Please welcome our official publisher - HypeTrain Digital, which, from this moment on, will cover all organizational and marketing aspects of Police Stories. Meanwhile, we at Mighty Morgan will focus on developing the game, making sure it’s every bit as awesome as we (and you!) had hoped.

But that’s only a part of our announcement!

After receiving all the feedback from the community throughout our Kickstarter campaign, we’ve noted a few ideas that would add something unique to our game. It might sound strange, but at first we didn’t have plans for a playable story mode, even though the game is called Police Stories. Now, with proper funding and your support, we’re proud to announce that Police Stories will have a fully playable story mode. We’ll include cutscenes between missions that will tell you more about Rick and John, their past and present.

We’re also working on the implementation of offline and online co-op modes, which is a completely new thing for us - so it will take us some time to work out all the kinks. Wish us luck!

Thank you once more for keeping interest and supporting Police Stories. Stay tuned for more news, coming very soon!

Thoughts on Alpha & Kickstarter Situation

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eHlggIVtQE&lc=z12jejprll3pgjjdj22gfzrjkpf1epwdv

Hi, it's Ivan!

Right now we are entering final days of our Kickstarter, and we wanted to address our community in a new format.

Here’s a video in which I talk about feedback from the Alpha, what’s to come in the full game and current Kickstarter progress, as well as other important topics.

Help us spread a word about Police Stories

Being indie is hard. But it's a little bit easier when you have a big supportive community that you can rely on.

Along with free Alpha's release, we've launched a Kickstarter campaign to get funding - so that we can implement all the features we think Police Stories should have on release, such as online and offline co-op and a level editor.

Now, with less than 2 weeks until the ending date we're still on our way to the target goal. And, as you may know, on Kickstarter it's everything or nothing.

That's why we're asking for help! To those of us who plan to help us out (or have already done so), we'll pay in full with Closed Beta access, exclusive T-Shirts and more.

But if you don't have an option to back us on Kickstarter, there's still a way to help us out!

We launched a Thunderclap to prepare for the last week of our Kickstarter. By signing up with your social media accounts you can help us spread the word about Police Stories - Thunderclap will post on your behalf at 6PM on 25th June a message to support our campaign.

More coverage is what we really need to get funded now. Let's make this happen together! 🚨

Discord Server

Our first Kickstarter week ended up being quite hectic - but it’s the good kind of hectic, so we can’t complain :) Responding to fan feedback, keeping in touch with press and media - all of that is great fun!

Today, we have a couple of announcements that we’re very excited to share with all of you!

First off, - we finally have a Police Stories Discord Server!

(*´ー`*)

It's the best way to discuss the game, and contact us directly. We also hope that this will serve as a base for building a community around Police Stories - and also help us spread the word about the Kickstarter campaign - we really need to meet the funding target after all :nidhoggorun:

Second - this week we’ll put together a Police Stories Stream on Kickstarter Live, where we’ll show some live gameplay and go through all of the game’s main mechanics - just to get you more acquainted with our project and answer the questions some of you guys have about our game. The exact stream date is not set in stone yet, so be sure to check our Twitter and Facebook for updates on that matter.

So we hope to see you on our Discord and our Kickstarter Live stream. And as soon-to-be real life, honest to god police officers, your first objective is to tell your favorite Twitch Streamer/Youtuber all about Police Stories!

🚨 Kickstarter is LIVE

First off, we’d like to thank you all for keeping interest in Police Stories. Today we've got an announcement to make - we’ve finally launched a Kickstarter campaign! The success of the Police Stories Kickstarter is an important step towards releasing a polished game with all of the currently planned features - and its future is in your hands.

Check out our Kickstarter page for more details about the game.

Why did we choose Kickstarter? Because not only is it a chance for us to get funded and gather an active community around Police Stories, but it’s also a great way to give back to you with awesome rewards!

For example, Backers with a 30$ pledge and up will gain access to a Closed Beta (Windows only), which will last until the official estimated release in Q4 2017. Closed Beta will also be consistently updated according to player feedback. Exclusive physical and digital rewards are also available for backers - but beware, some of the pledges are a limited time offer, so act fast!

You can try the game out for yourself at this very moment - since we've also launched Police Stories Alpha, which you can download for free.

Thank you again,
Hope to see you among our Kickstarter backers!

Kickstarter and Alpha 1 to launch May 30

Hello officers,

Thank you for your interest and patience - we’ve got some great news for you! But first, take a look on the Score Screen above, isn't it lovely?

We spent this month not only completing Alpha 1, but setting up the Police Stories Kickstarter campaign as well. Both of them will go live on May 30!

Completing our funding target on Kickstarter means we will have enough resources to make the game with all of the currently planned features, such as Co-op, Level Editor and a large variety of tactical equipment.

For you it's also a great way to get exclusive rewards, both digital and physical. For example, backers with a 20$ pledge and above will receive access to a closed Alpha 2 in July 2017 (Windows only), which will be regularly updated until the game’s release. And if your pledge is $105 or more, not only will you receive a full package of digital goods - you’ll also get your very own digital portrait in Police Stories’ unmistakable style.

Alpha 1 will include 2 playable levels. It’s going to showcase core gameplay mechanics, including bomb defusing! We'll make a special thread here in Steam Discussions so you can share your ideas and thoughts on it.

You can sign up for Alpha 1 and news here as usual:

Hope to see you on Kickstarter soon!

Alpha is coming, sign up!

Hi!

Thanks for all the feedback and support in the discussions.

Our small team is working hard on bringing you an Alpha build which will be available for free in 2-3 weeks. All you need to do is to sign up for it right here if you haven't already:

Since the last update enemies’ AI was completely redesigned to work with manual yelling. Why is this important?

First of all, it adds a new state for every enemy – state of uncertainty, when he sees player or Rick, but still hasn’t decided whether to attack or surrender. In this moment it's up to you what happens next. You can not only yell at a perp, but also shoot near him, aim at him along with your mate and even push him with your rifle if you are close enough. You'd better do everything to make him drop his weapon - otherwise a hostile might start shooting, and after that reflexes are the only thing to rely on.

This addition also finally gives us an opportunity to add stealth mechanics to our game. Yelling at criminals can alert others, so you might be interested in staying undetected for a more tactical approach - don’t let them get ready. For an easier control of your loudness we are going to add a special indicator.

-

And finally, after all wishes to see Level Editor and Co-Op modes added to Police Stories, we thought very hard about how we can implement them - considering the fact that both those modes really complicate the development. I still can’t confirm anything 100%, but it looks like we may have to start a crowdfunding campaign at the same time as Alpha version releases, or right after it. Please leave some feedback in the comment section about your feelings towards this idea - it’s really important for us! Cheers!

New enemy types for a higher tension

Police Stories is getting bigger! We've added new enemies to ones you may seen before. Check out the screens!

Gangstas, rednecks and highly trained henchmen all have different weapons and behavior patterns. The last ones – equipped with rifles and body armor — will be a real nightmare. Only using your fellow mate, tactical weapons and being really sudden you may have a chance that some of them will panic and decide to surrender. And to mention, you'll get more points if the enemy is neutralized without being killed ;)

Now we are working on tactical stuff like Motion Sensors, Pepper Spray, Medic Kit and much more. Hope to show you some soon!

Thank you for your anticipation and interest. It's hard time for indie projects on Steam nowadays so every attention count!
