Primateria Reburn is Coming!

Hello Primateria Community!

In our last announcement, we promised that more exciting news was coming, and today we’re thrilled to share exactly what that is. We’ve also got a fresh set of updates for Primateria itself, so read on for the details!

Card Changes and Balancing Updates

  • Soul Devouring Crab
The effect now reads "From mana" instead of "On fusion," providing more flexibility on when to use this ability. It also opens up new synergies with cards like Adventurer's Toolkit, so deck builders rejoice!

  • New Rules for Disabled Cards
At the start of a player's turn, any of their disabled cards will become bound instead. This change is intended to weaken strategies that fully lock down a player by occupying all their zones.
(Note: Disabled cards will still become enabled/unbound at the end of their owner’s turn, as before.)

  • Enhancements, fixes, and other small changes
Many bugs were fixed—especially in Daily Deck. Thank you to everyone who reported them!

New Artwork: Convoy Bison

We’re thrilled to reveal the brand-new Convoy Bison artwork! This design breathes fresh life into one of our beloved behemoths. Keep an eye out for it in your next match and let us know what you think!

Primateria Reburn is Coming!

Over the past year, we’ve worked tirelessly on Primateria—rolling out major updates, adding new content, and listening closely to your feedback. We’ve learned so much along the way and remain deeply grateful for your incredible support.

Today, we’re finally ready to unveil our next big project:

“A bold new TCG adventure fusing single-player exploration with a vibrant social hub—build your deck, explore shops, collect cosmetics, challenge fearsome AI and real players alike, and leave your mark on the Primateria world!”

Overview

Primateria Reburn reimagines the essence of Primateria, blending deck collection, trading, and challenging battles with enhanced community features that encourage social interaction. Whether you enjoy mastering single-player campaigns or going head-to-head with fellow players, Reburn offers the best of both worlds.

Game Concept

As a direct sequel to the original Primateria, Reburn keeps the core card-battling system you love but expands into a fully-realized TCG world with new features:

  • Explore Shops & Collect More Than Just Packs
Visit multiple in-game shops to find exclusive card packs, powerful items, and rare cosmetic collectibles.
Customize your avatar, deck box, and board to truly make your mark.

  • Primateria Battles: Single-Player & PvP
Single-Player: Tackle advanced AI opponents and experience the evolution of the popular symmetric boss battles. Each encounter is deeper, harder, and full of surprises.
PvP: Challenge friends or match against other players to test your newest combos and strategies. Climb the ladder or create custom lobbies for friendly skirmishes.

  • Social Hub
Hang Out & Interact: Join a dynamic social space populated by both players and AI characters. Discuss deck builds, seek advice, or simply relax and share your latest pack pulls.
Trades & Drafts: Trade cards with others to complete your collection or host thrilling draft events where each choice can lead to your next great synergy.
Tournaments & Events: Compete in organized tournaments—both casual and high-stakes—and participate in seasonal events that keep the meta fresh and exciting.

By steadily building your collection, showcasing your style with unique cosmetics, and immersing yourself in a lively community, Primateria Reburn promises a richer, more connected card-battling journey than ever before.

Early Development Sneak Peek

We’re still early in development, so expect many things to change. In the meantime, here’s a small taste of what’s in store. Please note that all visuals below are placeholders, early drafts, or experiments as we shape Primateria Reburn:

We’ll have more to share as development continues—stay tuned!

Final Words

As always, your feedback and enthusiasm keep Primateria evolving. While we’ll continue to maintain Primateria (the original), our primary focus will shift toward Primateria Reburn. We’re incredibly proud of what the first game achieved and grateful to everyone who played and supported it through countless matches, events, and updates.

Servers will remain open, and the feedback, Daily Deck entries, and analytics from the original Primateria will help inform and shape Reburn. We can’t wait for you to explore this new social frontier of Primateria and share your thoughts on the evolving TCG experience!

Contest Artwork Collection and Balancing Tweaks!

Hello Primateria Community!

We’re excited to bring you another update, packed with some of the latest features and tweaks based on your feedback. This minor update rounds out our recent changes as well as new artwork and changes to our Steam page.

Complete Artwork Collection

We’re thrilled to announce that the final 2 designs from our SuperXP 2024 Artwork Contest have now been added, completing the set of all five winning artworks! Each unique design, crafted in collaboration with our talented players and our artist @DuckArtisan, is now available in-game. Show off these exclusive pieces in your deck and let your opponents marvel at your custom card collection.

New Achievement: Tribute

Introducing the "Tribute" achievement! To earn this accolade, players must beat a boss in Endless Mode using all five artwork winner cards in their deck. It’s a true test of skill and a tribute to our community’s creativity!

Card Changes and Balancing Updates

To keep gameplay balanced and exciting, we’ve made several key adjustments to card effects and mechanics. Here’s a look at some of the changes:

  • The Zealot: Effect now reads "up to 2" instead of "2", allowing more flexibility in the zone locked format.
  • Cursed Coin: Resolves with "add this card to your hand" instead of creating a copy to prevent exponential cloning.
  • Battlemage: Effect is now restricted to once per turn.
  • Ignis Snail: Only triggers on the opponent’s turn, making it still usable defensively, but preventing free board wipes with other self-damage cards.
  • Painful Exchange: Draws 2 cards instead of 3.
  • Pandemonium Lost: Now causes "damage" instead of "discard".
  • Wide-Head Miner: Disables itself if no draw is possible.
  • Cataclysm: Effect now reads "up to 3" instead of "3", allowing more flexibility in the zone locked format.
  • Egg Snatcher: Can now play from both damage and discard piles.
  • Slime, the Jam: Effect was changed to "On damage (by battle): create as many level 1 tokens as possible. From damage: discard all tokens in your arena, play this card". This simplifies the card without taking away from the token multiplying nature.
  • All-Mother, Aian: To prevent some unintended OTKs, now requires 5 materia to be played and the effect can no longer be copied.

    Steam Store Overhaul

We’ve refreshed our Steam Store assets with new artwork to better showcase Primateria’s unique style and gameplay. Visit the Primateria Steam Page and check out the updated visuals!

    Daily Deck Milestone

The Daily Deck Major Update

Hello Primateria Community!

We know it’s been a while, but we’re thrilled to finally bring you the next major update. After taking your feedback and doing extensive research on what to prioritize, we’ve focused on delivering the most requested features. We hope this update makes your gameplay even more enjoyable!

Here’s what’s new:

Daily Deck Feature

Introducing the Daily Deck challenge! Players can now take on a new player deck every day. Each daily deck will be selected from the decks that beat the challenge from the previous day. Beating the Daily Deck also unlocks a new mode where you can battle against random decks from other players.

Zone Locking

For the daily deck feature, following your feedback on our playtests regarding first-turn kills (FTKs) and one-turn kills (OTKs) being too common, we've introduced a zone locking mechanic to balance early game advantage. Both players now start with 3 locked zones, leaving only 2 zones available. At the start of each turn (except the first turn of each player), one locked zone is unlocked. This change helps prevent early game domination while still allowing for strategic fusion plays without overwhelming first turns. It also evens the playing field for the player going first, as they will always be the first to unlock new zones, while the second player has the advantage of being the first to attack.

Redesigned Attack Experience

Based on your feedback, we’ve reworked the attack experience to make it smoother and more intuitive, especially for new players. You can now attack using drag-and-drop, click individually, or a mix of both. We’ve also added a new prompt asking if you want to enter the battle phase when dragging your cards to the opponent's.

Keyword Tool Tips

Another highly requested feature — keyword tool tips are now available when you hover over cards, displaying detailed descriptions of each keyword. If you prefer a cleaner UI, this feature can be disabled from the options menu.

Artwork Contest

During the SuperXP 2024 event in Joinville, we held a special challenge where players who beat the challenge run had the opportunity to collaborate with our artist @DuckArtisan (please follow him on Instagram!) to create their own custom card artwork. With dozens of sketches made and over 400 votes cast, the top 3 designs were selected and transformed into custom artwork for cards in the game. These unique player-created artworks are now available, and we’re excited to announce that 2 more winning designs will be featured in the next update!

Steam Community Items

We’ve also added new Steam Community items to enhance your Primateria experience! You can now unlock and collect:

  • 6 Trading Cards
  • 5 Emoticons
  • Badges for Level 1-5 and the Foil Badge
  • 3 Profile Backgrounds

Show off your progress and customize your profile with these new items while playing the game!

Additional Updates

  • A range of new micro-feedback has been added for actions like trying to attack the deck directly or playing high-level cards without fusing, helping new players understand mechanics better.
  • Improved AI behavior for a more challenging experience.
  • New artwork for 3 cards, additional to the 3 from our community artwork contest!
  • Minor card effect changes to improve synergies and overall game balance.
  • As always, we’ve fixed multiple bugs and made several performance improvements.

Final Notes

We’re also very excited to share that we have some BIG news coming in the next update — though we’re not quite ready to reveal it just yet! Stay tuned for more details, and we promise this next update won’t take as long to arrive. We're already ironing things out with our publisher Surefire.Games so news should be coming soon.

Thank you so much for your continued support and patience. Don’t forget to Join Our Discord to share your feedback and connect with the Primateria community, or reach out to us via our Instagram @yfritgames or on our website at https://yfritgames.com.

We hope you enjoy this update, and we can’t wait to hear what you think!

New Content and Exciting News

What's up Primateria Community!

It's been a while since our last update, but for good reason. We've been hard at work on new content, new modes and a lot of cool stuff we've been prototyping.

While we work on our next major update, we wanted to keep the updates coming for you guys to make sure content is always fresh!

Here's what's new:

- Boss Rush mode: a new mode where you can now face random bosses in a run structure. All available bosses in the game can appear as challenges.
- Tamera and Meros join the roster of legendary cards.
- Following your feedback, we have the reworked damage mechanic: cards in damage return to your deck at the end of battle. A dummy card is added to the damage to represent damage points. That way, your deck cards are no longer locked.
- Improved the pinata node to be more effective for effect based decks, now you can earn gold with most deck styles, not only attack based ones.
- 11 new cards focusing on untapped combos and mechanics such as links.
- 3 new decks with new / improved playstyles.
- 9 new achievements that go together with the new content.
- Replaced art for multiple cards with new custom artwork.
- Bug fixes, enhancements, balancing and other small changes.

More to come!

It should take us a little longer until the next major update, but we're very excited about the things we've been cooking for the last couple of months. With that in mind, we're releasing a new version before that with a lot of new content while we wait on the major update.

For now, we hope you enjoy the new content and changes!

Thanks for your support,
Yfrit Team.

The Deck Editor Major Update

Hello Primateria Community!

We're finally back with the exciting first major update based on your feedback and suggestions. This update introduces some significant features and enhancements to improve your gameplay experience in Primateria.

Here's what's new:

Deck Editor

  • Players can now create, edit, save, and delete their own custom decks using the cards they have unlocked. These decks can be used to start endless runs and quests.
  • Difficulty dynamically changes to balance runs using custom decks. Adding more cards to your deck will make the run more challenging.

Boss Rush Quests

  • We've added a new era with 4 new quests, introducing a boss rush mode where all battles are boss battles.
  • The new quests feature new super-bosses at the end, providing extra challenge and requiring advanced strategies to defeat.

Additional Updates

  • 7 new Equipment items have been added.
  • 7 new achievements to unlock.
  • 5 new cards have been added.
  • Abandoning a run now grants experience similarly to losing a run.
  • Some card arts have been replaced.
  • Balancing changes include a rework of the "Convoy Bison" card, improved monster parties for initial floors to reduce frustration, and a rebalanced unlock progression to encourage exploration of new cards.
  • We've also implemented multiple bug fixes, small changes, and optimizations to improve game performance and stability.

Your feedback is crucial to us, and we're committed to continuously improving Primateria.

Don't forget to Join Our Discord to share your feedback, opinions, criticism or if just want to chat about the game! Yfrit Team.

The Official Sountrack is Now Available!

Hi folks!

Thank once again for all your support to Primateria!

Just a quick announcement that the highly requested official sountrack is now available on Youtube! We worked very hard on it, and some of those tracks took us months to write and produce, so we hope you enjoy it! You can listen to it for free on Youtube.

For the people asking where to purchase it, the soundtrack is also available on Bandcamp. If you want to support us, you can buy the album or tracks individually!

Hope you all enjoy!

New Minor Update Rolled Out!

Hello Primateria Community!

We wanted to first of all thank you for the feedback you provided during the playtest, your participation was very important, and we're very happy that the changes made helped improve the Primateria experience!

This minor update incorporates all the changes made for the playtest, alongside other fixes based on your feedback.

Here's the list of changes:

Quality of Life Improvements

  • Card rewards are no longer mandatory when winning battles; they can be skipped.
  • Divine Sacrifice and Transmutation nodes can now be skipped.
  • Special unlock conditions for the legendary cards are now available in the gallery.
  • Information about the current challenge is now displayed on the Battle screen.
  • Difficulty is now clearly displayed on the quest selection screen and on the ending screen if you choose to keep your deck.
  • Multiple bug fixes and other minor changes.
  • The tutorial now explains the attack on deck mechanic.

Gameplay Changes

  • Battles now give two cards as reward instead of one.
  • Balanced the Battle in Waves node; it now has a battle phase, and the difficulty was adjusted.
  • Balanced boss battles: improved AI and adjusted combos accordingly with difficulty.
  • Balanced run difficulty: you can now only keep your deck for one era instead of all quests; the difficulty of the next quest when keeping deck was also increased.

Cards Changes

  • Skin Wearer can now only target cards in the backrow. It could easily steal a powerful high level card and deal a lot of damage in a single turn, and the only way to prevent that was by removing it from the arena. Now, it can be countered by moving the high level cards to the front row and only leaving weak cards in the back.
  • Ethereal Beast was removed from the enemy card pool, and is now a player-only card. If left alive, its effect of attacking mana would always do guaranteed damage to the player, without offering any kind of counter-play apart from removal.
  • Convoy Bison was also removed from the enemy card pool, but for the opposite reason. Using any removal effect would easily circunvent its defensive effect and trivialize battles, making them way easier than was intended.
  • Monster Grasshopper and cards with "on play: attack" effects will no longer appear during the 2nd turn onwards on the Battle in Waves node. These cards would instantly activate on summon, which would do guaranteed damage without a chance for counter-play. By restricting them to the 1st turn, when the player arena is still empty, those effects won't be able to trigger.

We have been listening to your feedback and working hard the past days to improve on the game, and will continue to do so! Our next update will be a major one, with new content and the highly requested Deck Editor feature.

Don't forget to Join Our Discord to share your feedback, opinions, criticism or if just want to chat about the game!

We greatly appreciate the support and hope you keep enjoying Primateria!

Thanks!
Yfrit Team.

Primateria Playtest: Share Your Thoughts

Dear Primateria Community Members,

Our playtest phase has officially begun! This is your chance to be among the first to experience the exciting changes we've been working on, based on the valuable feedback you provided.

Here's the issues this Playtest tries to address

  • Bosses had way more cards than the player and difficulty at beginning of runs was too steep due to small number of cards in deck;
  • Rewards could not be skipped, making decks too big, especially on late game, and shops were too far in-between;
  • First quest boss was too difficult for new players;
  • A "complete run" (doing all quests) was too long of a challenge;
  • Keeping the same deck throughout all quests made the game too easy for experienced players;
  • Difficulty of quests and runs was not clear, as it wasn't explicitly displayed;
  • Battle in Waves node was too punishing for most of the decks, especially due to the lack of a battle phase.

How to Join the Playtest:

Joining the playtest is easy! Just activate the "playtest" beta in your Steam client. You can do so by right-clicking Primateria on your Steam library, and navigating to "Properties..." then "Betas". There, just select the "playtest" branch from the dropdown list:

You can also send feedback through our website https://www.yfrit.com, our contact email contact@yfrit.com or any of our social media platforms.
