We continue telling you about the planned in-game changes. And today it is time to discuss the most mysterious and exciting thing for the players — crafting system. And not only about that ːsteamhappyː
Chests Update
Before getting to the most important part of the announcement, let's talk about something we have planned as the next step after the Hero rebalance and will introduce into the game with the next update — the update of chest contents.
First of all, we would like to note that the current system of getting Heroes is confusing, incomprehensible, and often tiresome. Sometimes a significant amount of card shards, time, and even essences is required to receive a golden chest. It is noticeably out of line if we take the process of getting the rest of the cards in the game into consideration and make the process of farming Heroes too long and complicated.
Therefore, we decided to give up the Hero chests and add Hero cards, just like tokens, to the regular chests that you receive for winning on the location.
The rarity of Heroes and tokens, dropping from the chests, will be determined according to the current system, which means the whole process of getting Heroes will become much easier, including those of the legendary rarity ːsteamhappyː And, of course, you no longer have to spend tokens on Hero chests because you will only need them for evolution.
Thus, getting all types of cards — Towers, Spells, Heroes — will become more transparent, uniform, and affordable. The need to level-up and sell cards will become a thing of the past. The reason for this is the fact that unnecessary card shards will now be used to a greater extent to level-up and create the cards that you need.
Red Chests
Of course, we cannot help but take care of the highest-level chests in the game, the mythic ones. First, getting such chests is pretty much tied to the players' activity now, and that is something they cannot control (to an extent). Second, unlike the other chests, you cannot receive runes from mythic ones, and when you are at a high level, a lot often depends on how well the runes are upgraded and how many bonuses they give. And as a whole, these chests are not in line with the general system, and sometimes it confuses players who have just reached level 90.
With this in mind, we are planning to do the following: <*> Add mythic chests to the battle rewards (both in PvP and PvE locations); <*> Bring their content to a unified form — apart from card shards, there will be silver, resources, and runes. It means that level 90 players will be able to receive mythic chests more often, and collecting runes of high rarity will become easier. After all, legendary runes will be in the red chests! And also valuable runes with a double effect 😃
At the same time, red chests will remain at the store, and you can buy them for both Red Crystals and Stars.
Crafting System for Tower, Spell, and Hero Cards
We decided to introduce the crafting system with what constitutes the basis of the game — Tower, Spell, and Hero cards.
At the moment, it can be quite difficult to get the right Tower, even with the fact that the card shards are a part of the battle reward, can be found in random stores, and are available for viewing ads. We want to make the process of getting cards that the player needs more understandable and controllable. For this purpose, we are introducing the crafting system into the game.
It will work as follows: <*> You can choose a card or card shard from those available in the collection to create a new card; <*> There will be a special button in the card menu that will take you directly to the crafting interface; <*> There, you can choose which cards from the inventory you would like to convert to the ones you have selected at the first stage.
Besides, by doing this, you get a chance of receiving a bonus — shards of card's foil analog or other special cards.
Thus, you will have full control of getting the cards you need and/or their duplicates (to increase the Quantity parameter, for example). And, as a bonus, receive foil counterparts of your favorite cards :)
Runes crafting will work on a similar principle (except for the foil counterparts, of course), but will be brought to the game a bit later.
We are also preparing a considerable amount of foil Heroes, new Heroes, and other changes that will make the game more engaging and fun 😃

Anniversary coins you’ve already collected will be stored on your account for 24 hours. ⏰ Until 23:59 UTC 05.10, you will be able to use remaining anniversary coins to spin the wheel. ⏰ After that, anniversary coins will disappear from your account

We have made some hotfixes thanks to your feedback.
Fixed a bug when Heroes without a group would disembark the ship when you re-launched the game.
Now you can collect all available rewards with just one button! You no longer have to collect each prize individually — get everything at once!
Also, when you open the Battle Pass window now, you will see the current rewards right away, without having to scroll down :)
For the changes to take effect, please download the update, which will gradually appear on different platforms.

We are introducing Defenders 2's new weekly Battle Passes! With them, you can, depending on the PvE-mode, get the cards you need — shards of Towers and Spells, Runes, or other resources. Just like "in the good old days."
<*> Battle Pass: Assault will let you get many runes for Towers and Spells; <*> Battle Pass: Raid will let you increase the number of valuable resources; <*> Battle Pass: Hunt will let you obtain shards of Towers and Spells cards.
To get rewards, you need to clear difficult levels in PvE locations (“swords” on the map) of the corresponding mode. Each difficult level you beat gets you higher and higher on the Battle Pass levels and allows you to receive greater rewards.
Each pass has two lines of prizes — a free one, which is available without any additional conditions, and a paid one, which prizes are available only if you purchase a specific Battle Pass.

<*> For each group of Towers and Spells there is its own line of Heroes now, that gives bonuses to the required parameters;
<*> You can take only one Hero from the group into battle.
<*> The Hero's rarity now determines cards of what color their bonus will apply to. The higher the rarity of the Tower or Spell is, the rarer the Hero must be to enhance it;
<*> Also, the value and even the number of bonuses depend on the rarity of the Hero. For example, the rarest (mythic) hero will give the cards of his group as many as three bonuses, including additional upgrades in battle!
<*> Besides, we have revised the value of the Hero bonuses — we have increased them.
New heroes have appeared in the game:
<*> Mythic: Shaman (for the Energy and Totems group), Patriot (for the Direct Damage group), Berserk Alpha (for the Area Damage group), Squink (for the Against Underground Enemies group).
<*> Legendary: Head Hunter (for the Direct Damage group), Primologist (for the Enhancement and Repair group), Berserker (for the Area Damage group), Mort (for the Poison group), Lightning (for the Prime Towers and Anti-Totems group).
Now the cards of Heroes, who are hired on the ship, have a SHIP marker in the collection;
Freeze now slows down only ground creeps;
Fanatic now increases the amount of Prime at the beginning of a battle;
Heroes that have an impact on the battle strategy are united in groups:
Fanatic, Highlander, Defender are in the Servants group;
Lady Frost, Snow Maiden, Da'Ka are in the Brisk group;
Freeze, Dendromonster, Fay are in the Containment group.
Like other Heroes of the same group, they cannot be recruited at the same time.
Besides, Snow Maiden, Highlander, and Da'Ka now give effects to all cards, including mythic ones.
You can get these Heroes in special events. Do not miss them!
In this version we have also revised the formulas and mechanics for gaining experience.
Now the main way to gain experience is by merging cards. At the same time, you will still be able to gain experience in battles, but it will be more of a pleasant bonus than the main way of leveling up;
The amount of experience gained per battle reaches its maximum at level 90 of any location. For battles at a higher level (for example, mines of level 200, 350, etc.), the cards will receive the same amount of experience as they do at level 90.
Each card gives a fixed amount of experience, depending on its rarity. The higher is the rarity, the more experience you will get ːsteamhappyː
If a similar card is used for merging, the amount of experience will be several times higher;
Bonuses from the ship and Heroes will also affect the process of getting experience.
Please note!
If the card used for merging already has a certain amount of experience (i.e. the card level is above 1), then it will be added to the merging experience. However, the ship's and heroes' and/or coefficients for merging identical cards will not work in this case.
Given the fact that cards of high rarity are giving much more experience when merging now, the requirements for leveling up have also been raised.
The higher is the rarity of the card, the more experience it will take to level up, up to the maximum level 90.
The shards system has become even more clear and convenient!
The shards with the NEW marker will now be displayed first;
After them, there will be all the shards from which you can collect at least 1 whole card, separated according to the basic rarity;
And at the end there will be the shards which are not enough to collect the whole card, also separated according to the basic rarity.
Upgrading the Frost Tower in battle increases the slowing down effect;
Foil bonus for the Snow Cannon has been changed to a 20% increase in the slowing down effect;
Fixed a bug with the foil Underground Predator that made it impossible to insert runes that increase the effect duration;
Fixed a bug with the Flying Saucer's damage;
Fixed a bug with the Towers where in some cases it was possible to upgrade them by using All-Purpose Gears of a lesser rarity.
