1) Update Schedule 2) RAZOR! 3) Quote of The Week 4) Question of the Week
1) Update Schedule *************** We’re working on getting programming development back on track with regular updates again at least once per month if not more. In the recent past when our code warrior was in between day jobs we would release updates as often as every few days so we’re pulling a plan together to make that happen again. Recent crew discussion has led to a pretty scary plan that, if it works, will put gas in the tank again. And if it doesn’t work? FUCK IT! We’ll try something even crazier. WOOOOOOO! “A man with nothin’ ain’t got nothin’ to lose.” ;)
2) RAZOR! ******* Our lead artist, Mr Wrestling 5, has a day job that is only slightly kinder to his free time than our programmers’ so he’s been able to squeeze out some more art assets for our new ring editor. Our newsletter pic this week shows some new ring options that I’ve been dying to play in Pro Wrestling X since day one; chains and razor wire! Now where can a modder find a good FMW logo…
3) Quote of the Week ***************** "No his mind is not for rent To any god or government Always hopeful yet discontent He knows changes aren't permanent But change is".
As a Canadian musician coming of age in the 80’s, we’ll all miss you Mr. Peart. As a world in desperate of heroes, we’ll miss you even more.
4) Questions of the Week ******************* This weeks question comes to us from the awesome crew making the Retromania game. What indie wrestler would you most want to see in a new wrestling game? https://www.retromaniawrestling.com

Newsletter #924
Welcome to Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #924
2019 was not our best year for demonstrable progress. The good news is we are 100% certain what the problem is. The bad news is that the problem is me.
This newsletter is not a total downer, promise! But you gotta be honest with yourself, y’know? Shit needs to be fixed and you need to figure out what’s broken before you can fix it, right? Gotta ask for help and not be ashamed to do so. Also have to have the balls to defend your shared vision and not sell it out to anyone for any reason.
There is just SO DAMN much I want to tell you guys and talk about but once I started writing I realized this was going to be a 20+ page masterclass in TLDR if I put it all down at once. My daughter has been bugging me to record a new podcast and I think that would be the perfect way to deliver all of the news and ask all of the questions I’d love to get your help with.
Plenty to be grateful for. TONS. But also some hard changes to make. What I tried last year didn’t work. No sense doing the same fruitless things in 2020. Talked to the crew about our 2020 battle plan and they offered some extremely smart and unique solutions to our admittedly unique challenges.
So let’s talk aboot it, eh? Look for a new PWX podcast coming your way in January 2020. We’re going to work with you guys planning our future while also setting fire to some old dead weight and just watch it burn.
2019 came and went and I’m grateful for all the lessons it taught me and for the lessons it TRIED to teach me. I’m sure 2020 will introduce me to painful new ways to man up. Fun?
Have a GREAT New Years Eve party everyone! We’ll see you in the new year. Rest up ;)
P.S. Pro Wrestling X is on sale for 90% off until January 3rd on Steam :)

Welcome to Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #923
1) Holy Shit! ********** Pro Wrestling X is now 90% OFF(!!) during the current Steam Sale! Got 99 cents in your Steam Wallet and wanna support a passionate and tenacious indie development team? THANKS! Here’s the link:
Straight up, we were REALLY hoping to ship a big update during this sale but…”game development is a complicated profession” and our best laid plans got put to rest by broken AI and pathfinding that caused our f’n grapple system to break when our engine was updated to “fix” what wasn’t broken for us. Totally get why the engine developers did what they did to help other genres of games being developed but the unique needs of wrestling game developers kinda got crotch chopped here.
We talked about it during our last crew meeting a few days ago and there is just no quick answer. Easy answer? Sure. Hire our programmer away from his day job and we’ll be cranking out weekly updates again like we were a year or so ago. So many of you have talked to us and offered some pretty creative solutions and while also asking some pretty obvious questions (“Where is your Patreon?” Uhhhh we don’t have one) and I want to thank you all for your tough love and advice. We had a good meeting. We agreed on a plan. Working it out now.
Until then THANK YOU again for all of your wonderful kindness and patient support. To quote Ozzy Osbourne, “God bless! I love you all!”

Newsletter #922
Welcome to Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #922
You Got Wood Pic of the Week Quote of the Week Question of the Week
1) You Got Wood ********** Wanna know the secret to the crew’s happiness with Pro Wrestling X? Why the hell people with 16 hr/day day jobs give whatever spare hours and minutes they have to a wrestling game project that has been in constant development for longer than some of our supporters have been alive?
EVERYONE is a fucking boss.
EVERYONE has creative decision making power.
EVERYONE shares a vision of something better
And NO ONE gives a FUCK if anyone has a problem with that
I’ll admit that I used to follow the conventional wisdom of how things “are supposed to work”. I bought into the “way things are done” and sheepishly acquiesced to the opinions of “authorities in their field”. Producers and designers were supposed to make all of the important design, branding, and business decisions and all of the “lowly artists and programmers” were expected to just do what they were told. I’m ashamed to admit I was so easily fooled by that bullshit back in the day.
Conventional wisdom is dead. Experts are worthless if they haven’t done EXACTLY what you are doing. There are no rules anymore and anyone who claims to KNOW what to do is delusional, lying, or both. Each one of us in this day and age has the 100% right to chart their own path. Make their own glorious mistakes. And decide for themselves how they are going to pursue their goals every day and define what success means for them.
To their credit, the other two PWX crew members have helped me to see the light in this respect. These guys are working their asses off during the day for some of the biggest game companies in the world and they STILL spend their free time, limited as it is, contributing to Pro Wrestling X. Why? Because with PWX they have a voice. They have control over their own shit. They decide what they will contribute. They don’t get handed a task list decided by some other asshole(s) and expected to just be good little worker ants.
Used to be that way. Embarrassed to admit it. Back in the day there were actually follow up meetings between some crew members after major crew meetings where the question would actually be, I shit you not, “That guy keeps contributing so many things we didn’t ask for that were not part of ‘the plan’. How do we get him to stop?”
Seriously. “How do we get him to stop?” Such bullshit. Might as well have shouted “YOU WILL RESPECT MY ATHORITAH!!” I should have known better. Now I do.
Case in point, our lead artist has recently been contributing some new rings while our programmer cranks on the next update with the preface, “Nobody asked for this, but…”
Those are my favorite! When people contribute what they WANT to contribute and not just what they are ORDERED to contribute...magic happens. Art happens. Cool wrestling games happen. Happiness, joy, and satisfaction happens. Makes me happy. The old way is dead and buried. This is the way ;)
SCHWING!
2) Pic of the Week ************** This week’s pic goes with the first section of this newsletter. Duct tape and a “shitty” wrestling ring have never looked so sweet. Here is how our lead artist, Mr Wrestling 5, describes the new ring option:
“...there's also some wicked indy harcore mayhem we need to pay tribute to! A lot of Duct Tape was used to create this masterpiece.
Did anyone see the crazy match kenny omega and John Moxely had at Full Gear?
We have... Wooden Posts Cardboard RingMat Chain Turnbuckles Pillow Turnbuckles Pads and Rope, Ropes! wut!! “
3) Quote of The Week ***************** “I had learned from years of experience with men, that when a man really desires a thing so deeply that he is willing to stake his entire future on a single turn of the wheel in order to get it, he is sure to win.” – Napoleon Hill
4) Question of the Week ******************* Call back to Mr Wrestling 5’s question for the crew, “Did anyone see the crazy match Kenny Omega and John Moxely had at Full Gear?” Thoughts?

Newsletter #921
Welcome to Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #921
1) Crew Meet Tonight ********** YES! Crew meeting tonight! My favorite part of every week is when the three of us are blessed to sit down and bleed Pro Wrestling X for hours. For me, I’m like a little kid blurting out crazy ideas for Disneyland rides and having the actual smart engineering people tell me how exactly they can make dreams become real. I’m sure our lead programmer and artist are sitting on the other end of the line smirking and rolling their eyes at most of the shit I come up with but lately the insanity must be rubbing off because THEY’VE been the ones proposing the crazy shit! Not to spoil any of the plans, but after the last meeting I found myself having to research if Judy Bagwell was a real person, a map of Sturgis, and exactly how one would go about gluing shattered glass to one’s fist.
We’ve got probably 10-12 months of solid full time development mapped out. Now we just need the funds to put the guys to work full time. Chicken and egg...god dammit.
The agenda for tonight’s meeting covers a variety of topics from core development, business development, marketing ideas, new partnerships, to how we can best reward our hardcore suppoorters.
Partial list:
-The lighting in this week’s build needs optimizing -New characters are looking good but we have requests for tweaks on one of them -Database plans to make sure future rewards and DLC aren’t easily hacked. -TONS of core movement adjustments; speed, etc. -Time to start properly scaling the different heights of different wrestlers -Do we want to add a strike combo system and if so, when in the roadmap does it make most sense. -Selling naming/sponsorship rights to some moves and venues to raise development funding without it becoming gross and tacky. -Scramble Cage? Cage of Death? Worth it? -Animation priorities and just how much can Mr Wrestling 5 handle before he completely loses his mind being STILL the only artist for this entire f’n project! -New championships and how to unlock them -More content. More content. More content.
Can’t wait! Gonna be a FUN damn meeting! We’ve been slowly getting things in place to start streaming some crew meetings live on Discord so you can ALL enjoy the backstage drama and sausage making :)
2) Pic of the Week ************** This week’s pic gets me right in the feels. When I first opened the Pro Wrestling X development studio in Vancouver I wanted to feel the collective energy of our supporters as soon as you walked through the front door. So I started printing out your letters of support and used them to wallpaper the entire entryway and staircase from the main floor to the second floor. Took me all day and it was worth it. Every morning I’d smile and walk up those stairs, running my hand along your letters and stopping to read one or two along the way.
Your letters from Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Germany, Japan, Portugal, Australia, EVERYWHERE just filled the place with the BEST fucking vibe. You could almost hear the walls shouting, “FUCK YEAH!” from all sides. It was like passing through a gauntlet of all your best friends cheering you on and making sure the whole crew knew without a doubt WHY we were doing this and for WHOM. I still have all of those letters. I’m sure I could wallpaper my entire house five times over by now. What you see in this picture just shows a tiny fraction of the walls your letters decorated for us.
So..thank you. I’ve never met you. But you continue to change my life and the lives of the crew for the better :)
3) Quote of The Week ***************** “If you quit on the process, you are quitting on the result.” ― Idowu Koyenikan
4) Question of the Week ******************* Does following the joy and exciting parts of the Pro Wrestling X story inspire you to chase your dreams and set big audacious goals? Or does hearing about all of the heartbreaking failures and embarrassing mistakes have the opposite effect instead and scare you away from taking risks and dreaming big?

Crew News Pic of the Week Quote of the Week Question of the Week
1) Crew News ********** I just want to make a quick statement about the PWX crew this week. Our core team is in the middle of 15 hour shifts at their day jobs making games I’m willing to bet you’ve been playing if you own a console or PC. They’re getting killed working overtime and they STILL make time to work on PWX and meet with me at least once a week for a few hours to plan and dream. I look forward to our weekly crew meetings, the highlight of my week, and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate these guys.
We’re scattered across time zones and even after a week of 15 hour days our lead programmer, Burning Devil, will attend crew meetings at 10pm his time for HOURS even when he has to clock in for his day job at 7am the next day. He just delivered another update to me this morning that he had to do in the wee hours of the morning. Our lead artist has consistently cranked out new assets weekly while also putting overtime making mainstream games for y’all.
I just want to thank them publicly. Stay tuned to social media because new screenshots and media are coming in the next 24 hours :)
2) Pic of the Week ************** I'm done. I started watching this Netflix show about wrestling figures assuming it would be a dumbed down shit show and they actually got into topics like Monday Night Wars, Wrestle Buddies, Jakks Pacific, THQ, and even the ECW toy line! This week's pic accompanying this newsletter is of a classic Ultimate Warrior figure on the show.
Check out The Toys That Made Us on Netflix. The Star Wars and LEGO episodes are a blast as well :)
3) Quote of The Week ***************** "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." -Bruce Lee
4) Question of the Week ******************* I am now enjoying games I used to hate. Just taking then for what they are instead of forcing them through my own warped ego. Backyard Wrestling 2? Wrestlemania X9? Just guilty pleasure fun! How about you? Any old 'bad' games growing on ya?

Dev Roadmap Pic of the Week Quote of the Week Question of the Week
1) Dev Roadmap ********** This week’s crew meeting was all about planning what we’re adding next to Pro Wrestling X. Mapping out the road ahead. The roadmap, IF YOU WHEEEEEEL. Did we throw in bat shit crazy self indulgent weird features and match types...much. But we certainly worked out a crap ton of core development that needed to be done asap. Here’s the list. Let us know if you disagree with anything here:
-Drag opponent on mat, facing up and down, From Head and Feet -Spin dazed opponent -2 Handed Weapons -Strong Sell, hit from behind. -Quickly exit ring to floor -Clothesline opponent over ropes to outside. -Apron to floor dives (asai Moonsaults) -Running grapples. - Double Team Moves -Mid Move reversals -Strike reversals -apron irish whip. -Leapfrog/Drop downs -apron sell to outside. -Corner Strong moves (super plex) -Middle rope dives. - Battle Royale Rules -Dazed on Ropes. -Grapple Let go. -Test of Strength -Rising Taunt -Running evade, rolling
-AKI Combo strike system -Full ability to rotate and push/pull while in grapple loop -random "knock back" when striking. Does opponent slump against ropes or tumble over the top? -Barbed Wire ropes. Can opponent stop short of hitting ropes (like Fire Pro) if not damaged/tired enough to be successfully whipped into them? -More cage interaction? Grinding face into cage, punching opponent while both climbing, diving from any point along wall while climbing, etc-running along apron -swinging around ringpost while on apron to get on other apron -running dives off apron -striking opponent on floor while on apron -apron taunts -Tree of woe -Middle rope running rebound attack (back elbow, Lionsault) -Rebound attack from crowd rail (RVD) -Stats and attributes in CAW
What do you think? Are we on the right track?
2) Pic of the Week ************** You don’t call yourself a wrestling game nerd and develop an indie wrestling game without paying respect to the Holy Land; Japan. And that’s why our upcoming ring editor gives you the freedom to make those Puro-style rings possibile. Kudos to the PWX lead artist, Mr Wrestling 5, for providing this weeks pic that shows us what’s coming to the new ring editor that gives respect where respect is very damn well due.
3) Quote of The Week ***************** “Your friends will believe in your potential, your enemies will make you live up to it.” ― Tim Fargo
4) Question of the Week ******************* I believe that the performance art of professional wrestling and things like the Montreal screw job will be studied in 100 years like Shakespeare is today. Am I nuts?

1) Nobody Cares 2) Pic of the Week 3) Quote of the Week 4) Question of the Week
1) Nobody Cares ********** Last week some stuff got leaked about how we reached out to AEW and I was very confused by the response. Just when I think I might have a half assed idea about how you guys think you go and humble me. I thought working with a well known license would be cool news. But by far the most common feeling was “Please don’t do it!”. Like, it never seriously occured to me that you guys actually dig where were going creatively with Pro Wrestling X enough that partnering with another company could be more risk than it’s worth. Here I am thinking, “Hey, wouldn’t this be cool if we did it?” and you guys basically smacked me down by asking, “But isn’t PWX already kinda cool on it’s own?” Last week you all made me feel really f’n stupid...THANK YOU! Just when I thought I had all the answers, you changed the question ;)
2) Pic of the Week ************** This weeks newsletter is accompanied by an update from our new ring editor in development. Support is being added for not just animated ring posts but full on animated ring aprons for those big e-fed PPV shows. I love it! Let’s all hoist a cold Broweisen and toast our awesome lead artist, Mr Wrestling 5, for taking the lead on all of the new ring editor options coming down the pipe!
3) Quote of The Week ***************** “Hell, there are no rules here. We’re trying to accomplish something!” -Edison

Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #916
1) PWX Leaks! ********** This is the week in which the universe showed us just how little control we have over...almost anything. Secret in-development material was leaked. Accidentally, in most cases. And certainly not maliciously in any case. Partnerships have been revealed before planned announcements. Secret pitches are no longer so secret. Upcoming PWX features have been revealed before we’ve even prototyped them. I ain’t bitching. Honestly, nothing has been revealed that we’re not INSANELY proud of. I just thought we had a bit more time to get our ducks in a row.
I’m happy to answer any questions you guys have in the comments. So I’ll spare you a long winded narrative and just give the honest bullet points:
- I did a pilot for a YouTube interview show, RideCar Superstar, and shared with their video editor an internal directory of various PWX video footage including footage of stuff we haven’t even announced yet. They used some of the secret stuff. And in their defense I can’t recall explicitly telling them which files to guard with their lives. Dammit. Or is it? Fuck it. We’re proud of it all: https://youtu.be/CkUtT_HYZ2k
- New IRL characters and moves you see there are done and getting prepped for release. And you’re going to have to live in a very specific part of the world to know who we’re talking about. Video may have been leaked but we ain’t making it easy for you just yet ;)
- That new match type? Not playable yet. Ya want it to be?
- AEW? Allow me to explain...
2) Pic of the Week ************** This weeks newsletter is accompanied by a one of the screenshots we sent to AEW. You’ve probably seen it by now. You’ve probably also heard rumors about an AEW game being developed and did a 1+1 calculation assuming it equals PWX working with AEW. Depending on your worldview I have good/bad news for you. We aren’t officially working with AEW at this time. Yes, we did reach out and send them media through various legit channels showing what we could do to develop an AEW game with the AKI feel they love and want. Call it “concept art”. It’s all actual in-game stuff showing their brand, main eventer finishers, etc., and not just bullshit Photoshop mockups. It’s all playable. Now. The crew cranked hard on showing AEW what we can do. I can honestly say that people with influential decision making power in AEW on more than one front have seen our pitch. And at this time I can also honestly say that AEW has not expressed serious interest in partnering with us. As of today. But as of now, please know that that AEW stuff you’ve seen is from us but ONLY as a pitch to AEW and it in no way indicates that we are working with them. Want to see these screenshots become a reality? AEW knows how to reach me. And we would kill for the opportunity.
3) Quote of The Week ***************** John Marston: Sounds like good country Sadie Atler: All country’s good. It’s folks that are bad.
4) Question of the Week ******************* How many different indie wrestling games have you purchased? I have a theory that us indie developers don’t compete between each other. That most indie wrestling game owners have purchased at least two indie wrestling games. Action Arcade Wrestling, MDickie games, 5 Star Wrestling, etc.

1) Save Us
***********
Newsletter #888...what am I doing with my life?!?
Fucking LOVING every day that I get to spend with the crew and supporters of Pro Wrestling X steadily turning dreams into reality THAT’S WHAT! I love the good times like now when our lead artist is pumping out new moves that I can’t wait to show you guys (more suplexes, knee drops, powerbombs, woooo!). And I love the really f’n hard challenging times, also now, when we have a lead programmer DYING to leave his grinding day job to work on PWX for you all full time. I wish we had him during our last Kickstarter or even when we launched on Steam Early Access and had a few bucks to spend. But now isn’t then and we don’t have the coin to pay his bills for a month or two to finish getting PWX out of Early Access and ported over to the new engine. Gotta love him, he toils away for us all in his spare minutes and seconds, but we need to get this man paid. Open to suggestions from the hive mind?
2) Stupid Idiot
************
This part of the newsletter exists mainly so that one day my daughter may read this and I can tell her: your daddy is not the invincibly awesome never wrong superhero that you surely believe he is. How could you think anything less? I mean really, look at me. Ab of steel. But I’ve made a shit ton of mistakes. Some that generate an unholy level of cringe when I think of them. I’ve hurt and disappointed people I love. You can’t go back in time. Just own up to them. Own them. Apologize sincerely. Make it right as best you can. Then forgive yourself. Don’t let anyone shame you. Keep going. Never stop making glorious new mistakes.
3) The List
*********
The crew is now down to three Last Men Standing. Lead Programmer, Lead Artist, and lead Dumb Ass (guess who!). Since parting ways with our long time Web Nerd recently I’ve been fielding offers from people looking to take over the vacated position. Honestly, the position is no longer vacant because the position no longer exists. We won’t be filling it. The three of us got this. That’s not to say we aren’t always open to meeting awesome new wrestling fans who want to work on PWX with us in other capacities. We just aren’t looking to hire any new full timers at the moment. Things will change, though. They always do.
4) Quote of The Week
