Monthly changelog

Hey pilots!
There was a lot of changes this month, some of them:

Graphics:
- taking damage damage now leads to shaking camera and red flashing at the edges of the screen
- indication of low HP, stuns, silence now with flashing at the edges of the screen
- additional anti-aliasing FXAA at High and Ultra lighting settings
- activated OpenGL 4.3 mode (including 4.5+) to speed up client loading
- significant changes in the display of the point of explosion of missiles
- changed animation of torpedoes and their trail
- a lot of changes in weapon effects (FX)
- various graphics improvements

Skills and Gameplay:
- added second rank to "Nanorobots" skill, which lasts 15 seconds instead of 10 and requires 11 talent points.
- "Full control" skill has been removed and moved to the "Repair" branch
- added one ot the top skills for Armor branch "Oil Cloud", aura that slows down all ships within a radius of 30 meters, and consumes 5 units of shield per second.
- skill "For wear" does not work if there are no machine guns overheated (you need at least one not overheated to work)
- reworked CTF 4x4 map, now there are passages from the Clone Station to the center of the map, closed by energie barrier that open from the inside. Opening is possible only during the battle and for 10 seconds
- added checks when buying a weapons, armor, ships, etc for presence of the necessary talents
- in the case of takeoff with a hull with missing talents, a slowdown debuff is applied
- changed the rules for the appearance of random items in trade at the station
- reduction of the effect of bonuses for long cooldown weapons starts from 2 seconds
- changes in damage and attack speed of torpedo weapons (DPS remains unchanged)
- reworked formula for damage from shots that remove shield
- fixed "Multi stage charge" - one charge hits one target
- "Destabilizing Explosion" now deals 100 damage
- skill "Silence zone" now has a radius of 40 meters (was 30)
- maximum deceleration now 80%, except stun effects
- the laser skill "Blind" now 10 second cooldown
- Specialist hulls now visible for sale
- NPC reputation no longer affects purchases in the BG store
- "Portable Pulsar" now resets cooldowns of spells and items that have less than 30 seconds of cooldown
- the Repairman class is available for the test
- classes icons are dynamical now and show its hull type, primary and secondary specialization
- "Reload" skill now restores both shield and HP
- invulnerability, acceleration, etc skills leads to flag drop
- "shield neutralization" absorbs 50-75% of total volume of the target's shield and does not depend on the equipped weapon
- Friendly Fire is turned off for training games


UI:
- if there are more than 4 active quests they are shown in a reduced mode
- fixed problem with a black screen on start
- character classes are now divided into 6 categories, instead of 3
- added item filters to shop
- changes in ships classes they are: military, armored, scout, command, scientific, special
- slot for the cloaking module is only available on the scout and special hull
- slot for the drone module is only available on the scientific and command ship
- in the combat log, different types of damage are shown in different colors (yellow - explosions, blue - energy, gray - physics)
- debuff icons are red now

Build 0.4.301

- added lens flare from the sun. especially noticeable in 3rd person camera mode
- in 3rd person camera mode minimap rotation can be locked (not bount to camera direction)

- Fixed quests with a counter of more than 32768 (did not show correctly)

Build 0.4.298. Graphics

Version with new background graphics and new maps. There are many possible bugs, especially with graphics. Also there could be different performance issues.

Build 0.4.296

- fixed problem with disappearing effect icons on characters name plates
- added visual effect for the acceleration bonus
- fixes for the correct removal of visual effects in space
- maximum zoom out by default upon entering the world
- spin effect is implemented - the target rotates and cannot control it
- talent 'Destabilizing blast' is now active, rather than passive, deals critical damage and stops the enemy
- talent 'Humanitarian aid' restores both the shield and the target’s hull points, can be used on friends
- changes in texture compression and their quality - the game now takes 20 megabytes less without quality changes
- significant changes in the synchronization of the position of players and NPCs

Fellow pilots!

Client update

Today we have two updates in a row. First of all we have new music from Jesse Gallagher and also all team members on CTF games now have distinctive blue and red marks!

Version 0.4.294:

- fixed bug with invisible missiles
- fixed GameObjectError when putting down the flag
- Flurry of Fire talent launches 4 missiles instead of 6
- changed and significantly accelerated the rendering of stars and the sun

- the character retains its orientation upon resurrection

- sounds and music are loaded in parallel (removes jerks when the sound first appears)

Version 0.4.295:

- fixed a problem with registration and the account log in issues

- possession of an artifact gives -30% to speed (there was a bug in build 294 that gave +25% instead of -25%)
- fixed a bug in the English locale when it was stated incorrectly which team lost the flag
- changed some workings with flags in Russian locale
- torpedo talents reviewed, optimized and are now in RC state for next builds
- replaced artifact icon while carrying it
- added player team icon for all CTF battles
- the Fast and the Furious skill reduces maneuverability not by 100%, but by 80%. Ship control is now allowed during the skill effect

  • PVP rank formula is now 1 + log10 (games) with rounding. That means you'll get Rank 1 (Legionary) after first battle, rank 2 (Duplicarius) after 10 battles and so on
  • players with the Duplicarius rank and above can enter the FFA battle
  • reduced radius of missile detonation by 20%
  • bots on the BG are added with 10 sec delay
  • the Redeemer machine gun is slightly weakened
  • additional check to avoid multiple death messages
  • Critical Shot talent of Sniper class consumes the entire shield, requires 100 shield points to activate and guaranteed to crit
  • Strobe talent in the Lasers tree requires a 15/30/45 shield depending on the rank
  • carrying the Artifact slows down you ship by 25%

Steam Summer Game Festival

Fellow Project Amalthea followers!

We are delighted to inform you of our participation in the Steam Summer Game Festival. During the festival everyone is allowed to try the Demo version of our game called Project Amalthea: Battlegrounds.


Battlegrounds is a spin-off from our main project focused on arena fights - short team battles with other players. You start on Amalthea station on Jupiter orbit with a level 10 character and a ship packed with guns and modules.

There is a quarantine declared throughout the orbit so all the pilots are grounded except for the few ones allowed to participate in training battles.
Join their ranks, play different arena battles, upgrade your weapons and buy new ships! There are 50+ supporting quests, 12 skill trees, 16 game classes (only 9 of them are available in the Demo) and much more!
