Project Warlock

Join our special livestream with John Romero!

Hey everyone,

We’d like to invite you to join us on Tuesday, October 4, at 11 AM PDT / 2 PM EDT / 8 PM CEST for a special livestream series called Boomer Shooter Friends Forever!

Hosted by boomer shooter connoisseur Jared R. Bair, it will feature two game developer guests: Kuba Cisło, the creator of Project Warlock, and John Romero, the… well, pretty much the creator of modern shooter games.

Drop in to ask questions on the chat and discuss how PC shooter games have started and evolved, and how making them changed in the last 25+ years. We guarantee lots of insider stories, positive retro vibes, and a chance to win the limited edition Project Warlock PC Big Box signed by both developers!

You can catch the livestream here on Steam and on Jared’s Twitch channel!

The year of Warlock

In the fourth year since its initial release, Project Warlock is having its biggest year ever!

For the last couple of months, we’ve been working on the game and squashing out some of the bugs that have been troubling you. Some of them persisted for quite a long time and it wouldn’t be possible to eliminate them without your detailed help in identifying and reproducing them.

Project Warlock still receives updates (including Steam Trading Cards!), while a lot of new people keep discovering the game and playing it for the first time. And all this is happening while our team is working on a full-fledged sequel. But we’re not stopping there.

Project Warlock was and still is a passion project. It’s also what has caught the attention of legendary game designer John Romero. We’ve been in touch for some time and talking about doing something special together…

We always wanted to give PC players the chance to have something tangible and fitting for the game that evokes the old days of FPS shooters that you would buy at your local computer store and display on a shelf over your desk. That day has come and we’re happy to reveal that Buckshot Software and Romero Games have teamed up to release a special, limited PC BIG Box edition of Project Warlock!

Pre-orders for the Project Warlock - Ihet Edition are now open at The Romero Shop with shipping planned for Q4 2022.

Our limited edition Big Box will include:

  • Individually numbered box
  • Personal signatures by John Romero and Jakub Cislo
  • Project Warlock swag bag
  • 4 GB Custom Buckshot USB with the game
  • Big, wall-friendly poster
  • 3 steel pins of Project Warlock’s Formidable Foes
  • 4 “Faces of Warlock” stickers

After the physical releases of SIGIL and Dangerous Dave, this is the first PC Big Box prepared by Romero Games for a title that wasn’t personally developed by John Romero. It’s a huge distinction and honor for the whole Buckshot team!

We hope you’ll like it too!

Graphical settings patch

Hey everyone!

We’ve patched the game to version 1.0.5.20.

For new users, it should now entirely resolve the issue of screen resolution not detecting during the first launch.

If you ever experienced issues with graphical settings not saving between the main menu and gameplay or resetting between sessions, these issues should also be resolved.

Thank you for your continuous support for Project Warlock, leave a review if you like the game, and please consider checking out the sequel with our great bundle offer.

Hardcore resolution

Hey Everyone,

This patch updates Project Warlock to version 1.0.5.13. and brings two notable fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where the continue button would show in the main menu despite dying on the hardcore difficulty setting and losing all lives in standard and hard settings
  • Fixed an issue with resolution upon launching the game for the first time

The game has been going through different balance updates and tweaks in recent months. We keep fixing bugs and optimizing the game to work better. We're also making sure to follow your feedback and that's why, as one of our next updates, we want to introduce more customizable difficulty levels.

Currently only the default, Casual difficulty level has an unlimited number of lives, which means that on higher settings you might run out of lives and need to start from the beginning (think about the classic Contra here). The hardcore level gives you only one life to spare!

This will change in the future as we want to add toggles for the enemy difficulty and the number of lives, so you can more precisely choose the challenge you want to face. Before this happens, we recommend playing on Casual to everyone who wants to complete the game in one playthrough, without the risk of losing progress as a result of running out of lives.

Thank you for your continuous support for Project Warlock while we’re also working on the sequel (which is releasing really soon!). Please leave a review if you enjoyed the game - it really helps us get more visibility.

The Warlock invades another game!

Hey everyone!

The developer of B.I.O.T.A. must really like us because he designed and implemented a special new playable character inspired by the Warlock!

Warlock’s magical staff is well suited both for short and long distances, while his Harvester special ability fires four piercing rounds to smash enemies into a mush. The new character will remain available only for one month, so don’t wait up, and give it a try!

You can still get both games at discount with the Project Warlock X B.I.O.T.A. Bundle too.
