Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback on the demo! You spoke, we frowned, we wanted to say "why don't you make your own game then", we recovered, gave it some extra thought and conceded you were right. So: here's what's going to change as of this update. Some nicely illustrated highlights first, and the full changelog right after that.
We decided to open the curtains up a bit, as it's really dark in here, boy
And let's set you up with some nice, atmospheric fog for good measure
Problems with directions? Let's drop some more hints right there on the map then
There's now these little terminals that provide hints when you approach them
The hints in all their raw glory
Full Demo 0.1.5.15 changelog below:
- Added safety feature - the game will no longer freeze if the game does not have access to save/load folder. Instead, an error dialog will show up. The issue still might occur if the access to complete "Project Warlock 2" folder is read-only - we are still working on the issue - Increased Rifle Ammo Pack ammo from 20 to 25 - Added additional Ammo Packs to early part of the level - Added sword pickup to the secret passage at start of the level - Moved the switch to the secret passage to a new place - Added Legend to Automap - Added Door and Interactable Elements icons to the Automap and Minimap - Adjusted player height. It was a bit too low compared to monsters - Akimbo pickup now replenishes ammo completely on pickup - Removed Physics from keys. They should not disappear anymore - Improved Lighting in the level - Added Tutorials to E1M1 - Changed default key bindings. Interact is now E, quick save is F5 and quick load is F9 - Increased monster aggressiveness - Added a slight delay when taking out a weapon which was not reloaded to encourage usage of other weapons
Project Warlock II demo available now
Two years of development. Total revamp of physics, visuals, level architecture, sound, music, enemy design, enemy fear, arsenal, spells systems, types of secret…
Yeah, Project Warlock II has gone a long way.
We are committed to bringing you the best game we can and the most open way about this is to simply have a demo available for you. Today.
We can elaborate on each and every aspect, but there's probably only one question you really want answered: how does it play?
Well - you better see for yourself.
And please tell us what you think in the comments.
This was a busy week for Project Warlock franchise, as we're nearing the moment where you will be able to play the second game in a series. Between working on the current build of Project Warlock II and fixing bugs that tend to appear in soon to be released games, rethinking certain design choices thanks to supportive friends (hey, Dave!), working on the demo (what DEMO?), and finishing marketing activities we also took part in certain initiatives that you guys might find interesting
1. Realms Deep 2021 event
For the second year in a row Project Warlock took part in the world's biggest firstpersonshooterfest that is the Realms Deep. This time around Project Warlock II was also there, featured as a part of the event that saw the first PWII gameplay video alongside 160 other excellent retro-themed games. This was also the first time ever we showcased a longer section of gameplay with no image and sound manipulation. So - the gameplay you see is taken from the actual build of the game dating around three weeks' ago (submission date). In the gameplay below you can see footage from Episode 3, halfway into Palmer’s adventure. You will be able to see spells in action, a lot of shooting and enemies that get bisected, blown to bits, shotgun-beheaded and filled with lead in their full pixelated glory.
2. Collector's Edition
That was the moment where we announced - amongst other things - Project Warlock II's Collector’s edition that's available right now. This is something you can get your hands on provided you like kicking things that are starting.
3. Project Warlock II First ten minutes @IGN
On Sunday an exclusive preview of the first level in action (first ten minutes) aired on IGN showing the slightly tweaked version of the first level. Tweaked as in – having a Hard level amount of enemies with Standard difficulty level behaviour and health levels. The game is still in testing phases, but you can see the way Project Warlock II currently plays. You can check out environments, gunplay, an upgrade and different effects showing the game in action. Played by no-one other than Kuba - @PWarlock_dev himself.

4. Realm Deep 2021 The Vault Project Warlock II video
Released after the actual Realms Deep event as a part of the in-depth videos filled section see below the video where Kuba takes you through the development of Project Warlock II. This is a part of a larger collection of videos alongside other games in Realm Deep's website section of The Vault.
