Oh snap! Steamy Jimmy over on Youtube found a bug. A rather nasty one that you may not have even realized you encountered as well!

Did you ever get caught for no reason? Well, there was a reason, but it wasn't a GOOD reason. That bug has been squished. Huzzah!

The State of Proxy in 2017
Hey everyone! I wanted to update you all on what's happening in the world of silly hacking.

First off: thank you for playing! I actually mean that. It fills me with unbelievable happiness knowing that you are playing and enjoying my game.

Second off: I have, unfortunately, had to take on a lot of contract jobs to make ends meet, and that doesn't leave me with a lot of time to work on Proxy. I'm sorry!

I really do want to keep improving and adding features. I'd like to make Steam Cards at one point, and add more writing.

I have also been looking into letting you make your own "hacking grids" but that process is going really slowly (due to the aforementioned end-meeting needs).

Thanks again for all the kind words, encouragement, patience, and feedback. I really appreciate it.

Proxy is now on Mac and Linux!
It was a hard fought battle, but Proxy - Ultimate Hacker is now on Mac OSX, Linux, and Steam OS! I have set up special forums for each in case there are any platform-specific problems. Tell your friends that they can play now too!

Aw yeah! Lots of behind the scenes stuff but there's also a new program you can buy!


  • Defrag Program - Clean up that messy hard drive!
  • Steam checking - if there's a problem with Steam, Proxy will fail "gracefully!"
  • Safer saving and loading - Something happen to your files? Proxy won't flip out!
  • A new header for the "resolution" splash screen - neato!


There's also a "save migrator" in order to accommodate the new defrag program. THIS took the majority of the work, so I hope it's worth it!

Aw yeah! You all thought I forgot about you but it was a trick! A ploy to lull you into a false sense of security!

o MASSIVE change to the calculation and escalation of job payments
o Store item costs adjusted accordingly (check 'em out!)
o All 'Rounder motherboard supports 4kbps modem
o When a "sabotage" job expires and you technically completed it, you get paid
o No one reads these
o Time panel skipping down to 5 min
o Console has shorter load times
o New default proxy
o Messing around with banking functions will trigger a trace
o Bug fixes galore

o Bug fixes and tweaks that would be spoilers so I won't say what they are
o New achievement names
o Surprise animation! Who can find it the fastest?

Some hidden things (no spoilers!) but those have been fixed, along with...

o Some balancing tweaks!
o Move arrows in the proxy screen (indicating that you can drag)
o Move arrows in the hacking screen
o No "loan payment" email without any loan
o Unique computer achievements should be fixed (they will RUE the day!)
o File copier should work properly for the various file types
o Top right info "?" panel should contain all the right pictures
o The network connection sound won't loop infinitely
o Indicated in the tutorial that there's a slider in the "time skipping" panel
o Changed "Decryptor" to "File Decryptor" to avoid confusion with the "Password Decryptor" in hacking items

More goodies, and this time, balancing!

o The money isn't increasing at all with the higher difficulty levels
o News items should show up faster
o "Paste Account" didn't work, now it does
o Skip time, tab out, tab back in: resume normally, as it should be
o If you get traced, alt-f4 will no longer save you from the shame of defeat
o Removed the cost additions on hacking items, buy as many as you like!
o Changed the "?" info panel to have everything all the time
o Fixed a shader, masks mess up your game, kids. You wouldn't think they would but they do.
o Fixed the stats panel, it should behave from now on, if it knows what's good for it
o More complicated jobs will yield higher rewards
o Deleted a surprising amount of files that were sticking around, now Proxy requires less storage space, and less RAM. Huzzah!

Update 1.0.1
You people are GOOD. Already finding bugs. Here's what's been fixed:

  • "Days played" medal displays properly
  • New "accessed emails" log when you open an email
  • Copying certain programs to a server, deleting them from your hard drive, then RE copying them back to your hard drive (don't ask) will work properly now
  • Game pauses when you use alt-tab
  • Achievement: computers hacked is now: "unique" computers hacked
  • You can upgrade proxies now, oops!
  • Computer Annihilator's cost was halved


Still to do:

  • Game Balance is still a constant battle against a fire-breathing dragon without a sword or even a horse
  • A strange tutorial-only bug where you can quit, re-enter and can't complete it? (Baffled by this, just...just baffled. Befuddled, even)
  • Certain sprites not displaying correctly (no wait, THIS one is befuddling)
