PsiloSybil

Patch notes Beta 0.7.3

0.7.3
Bonus level Platformer Level released (in a beta state)
- The only requirement to access it and complete it is beating Lord Nutmeg.
- It is possible to free the mushroom and complete the (joke) time trial
- Arcade runs still end after Nutmeg - PL is not reachable in arcade.
Debug
- The debug overlay activated with cheat JIJPPJP now includes a marker for slap cooldown.

Patch notes Beta 0.7.2

Undergrowth Burbs
- Some geometry fixes.

Save Slots
- For now, slot selection doesn't work with analog stick anymore (just like skin selection system). Also the menu is properly dead-zoned.
- The system is more resilient to corrupt or unreadable savefiles, and should not crash anymore if a corrupt savefile exists (but if the corrupt file is loaded and played, it will be erased).
Stone Cold
- A hint has been added for the secret.

Patch notes Beta 0.7.1

Warning: this update involves changes to the save system. It's strongly advised to back up your save files before starting the game again in case bugs have slipped into the build undetected. Better safe than sorry.

New Save Slot System
- very exciting! Everything should be self-explanatory. You get 16 save slots. Try it out!
Truffle Traffic / CliffHanger
- Modified animation of copter boars

Further changes to PL.

Release Announcement - Early 2023

Indie devs delaying games is a tale as old as time... I cannot make the original release deadline for this December. Unforeseen circumstances ate at my time budget and my working philosophy is, as always, to make no compromises on the state PsiloSybil ships in even at the cost of delays. I want it to be excellently packaged, as bug-free as possible, and with all its awkward bits smoothed out.

PsiloSybil will exit beta early access and fully release as 1.0 soon. Soon, however, means sometime in the first months of 2023, and not around... right now as I had previously estimated. I'm sorry I couldn't make it, and I'm sorry for coming up with this late. It's not a massive delay, but it's there.

The game is, as it currently stands, almost finished. In terms of gameplay content, has all 23 of its main levels, and only the 24th bonus level is missing. The things I want to wrap up before I can call the game finished include:

  • Aforementioned bonus level
  • A very juicy secret!
  • Quality-of-life improvements
  • Cutscenes, credits, and a general coat of varnish on the user experience beyond raw gameplay

So do not expect brand new chunks of game, but do expect that same classic platforming brutality to be just in tip-top shape to break your spirit on that special day. I don't know the exact day right now, but rest assure that when it comes, it comes hard and unforgiving. Spend this time buffer wisely, study up and git gut.

Take care, and thank you now and forever for all your support!
