PsiloSybil

Patch notes Beta 0.6.0-c

Generic
- Returning to the Overworld from any screen will attempt to place you back on the same level you had selected last (even if it's not the last you've played).
- Further fixes concerning time trial ghost file parsing in non-standard locales -- should now be possible for everyone to read ghosts.
- Bugfixes and refinements to audio in ghost selection screen
- When entering initials at the end of a time trial run, the OK button is auto-selected when three initials are input.

Lord Nutmeg
- New music for phase III

Patch notes Beta 0.6.0-b

- Fixed a bug that occurred in certain locales where time-trial ghost data was produced mangled and unreadable. (These locales are specifically the ones in which the time counter displays with a comma instead of a period for the decimals). This bug has nothing to do with the newer system and was always present. From now on ghosts should be produced correctly on all locales. Previous mangled ghosts produced by this bug are irrecoverable and should be deleted.

Like a phoenix from the ashes. 0.6

Maybe you know, maybe you don't, last month my hard drive died. It was an absolute disaster. We almost lost all of Psilosybil's source code. So if you're wondering why there haven't been much news for a bit, that was why.

Thankfully I had an almost complete and very recent backup, but it took a lot of patient work to reconstruct the missing parts, mostly in the audio. The newest reborn build is made on a new machine, and is essentially an almost perfect replica of the original in the parts that were missing, and it also has some new goodies, which I really hope you enjoy. Because of this traumatic journey and also because some cool new features got smuggled in with the restoration, I'm marking this as a major version, 0.6. Here's what's new:

- New and improved time trial ghost system. Ghosts are now saved independently from the main save file, and you can have as many as you like on each level. After a successful time trial, you will now be prompted to set a three-letter name to sign your ghost with. And before starting a time trial, if you have any ghosts saved you can choose to race any one of them, or disable the ghost. Ghosts display an icon specific to the skin you used. Ghost files can be easily copied and passed to other people.
- All previous ghosts are incompatible and will be unreadable starting from this version. Your skulls and best times will be preserved and work correctly, just the actual ghost will not be accessible and might even get deleted from your file. If you care about preserving old ghosts, please back up your savefile and get in touch with me about converting them to the new format.
- Pause menu during a time trial now displays the target times for the bronze and gold skulls.
- Changes to the skin selection screen.
- Due to loss of several audio sources in certain uncompressed formats, there might be differences in audio in some parts of the game, especially in relative volume. In some cases I've changed things for the better, like in P.E.A.R.L., but there might be spots where it is unintentionally different or buggy. Please pay attention and report any anomaly.

Patch notes Beta 0.5.3-b

Crystal Hollow / Gruesome Grotto
- The edges platform with the cave paintings have been made easier to see even on poorly calibrated monitors.
Gruesome Grotto
- When you respawn, cubes that have already been saved as broken by a checkpoint will not respawn, making it clearer how the puzzle to open the crystal door works. Note this only applies to this level, not Crystal Hollow.

Two New Levels: "Crystal Hollow" and "Gruesome Grotto", + new "Feline" Skin

Hi!

We march on with PsiloSybil development. This update comes with two sibling levels with two sibling NPCs.

The first one is Crystal Hollow, an early-game spelunk session through a dark, mysterious cave. It's pretty easy but it's fun. You can have fun freeing the resident mushroom friend Rory. You can find the level right after Roach Motel.

The second new cave level is Gruesome Grotto, which is much harder and introduces even more mind-bending mechanics. See if you can free Rory's sister Tori. This level is located after the P.E.A.R.L. boss fight.

But that's not all! The new "Feline" skin is introduced. Hopefully you can figure out how to unlock it.

Have fun!

Patch notes Beta 0.5.2-f

General
- Changed appearances of some mushroom path platforms.
- Solved bug where the star particles in level end warp pads would display incorrectly shaded or not at all.
Cliffhanger
- Changed some collision so that the final set of tree jumps is a little easier.

(This update is bundled with currently inaccessible data for the two upcoming levels.)

Patch notes Beta 0.5.2‑e

Generic
- New checkpoint system: when a checkpoint is used, all other previously used checkpoints are immediately reset and become reusable (as if you had died and respawned). This removes situations where the player is forced to die to perform certain types of backtracking.
- Mushroom path platforms in their solid/active state are now shaded differently and have more vivid, slightly more easy to recognize colours.
- Removed some unused assets from the build.

Undergrowth Burbs
- bugfix: by walking into the space inbetween the level end warp pad and the moss wall it was possible to make Sybil vibrate and get out of bounds.

Nuclear Winter
- Thor's tokens are slightly changed in colour.

Haunted Lodge
- Added spiderwebs.

Patch notes Beta 0.5.2-d

General
- SFX system rehaul: in-game sound effects no longer play when the game is paused. It is now possible to configure the SFX volume separately from the music volume in the audio settings menu.
Lord Nutmeg
- The timing of the explosion effect at the beginning of Phase II has been tweaked. There are no modifications at all to gameplay.
