Announcing our new game — Soul Shuffler!

Greetings, everyone! We're thrilled to announce our next game — Soul Shuffler!

It's a card-based roguelite about a demon specializing in the souls of inanimate objects. 😈

Explore the ever-changing Limbo, defeat and collect the countless souls within, use them to expand your Domain, and dominate the Infernal Tournament with your mad soul-shuffling skills to make Hell yours!

To be released on PC in 2025.

Wishlist the game now!

And here's an announcement trailer!

Some Q&A that might interest you:

Q1. Are there any specific games that inspired Soul Shuffler? Similar in gameplay or vibe?

A1. Yeah! The card part is similar to games like Cultist Simulator, Stacklands, or WitchHand, while the souls collector part is akin to Pokemon, Digimon, Coromon, and many other games in the Creature Collector sub-genre.

----

Q2. That's quite a change of genre! I'm more of a fan of platformers and puzzles, are you switching to developing card games now? (I'm packing up my stuff already!..)

A2. There are tons of genres that we love and want to work on! Most often our subsequent games will differ quite a lot from their predecessors, so no, we don't plan to make card games all the time. :3 We are die-hard platformer fans ourselves, and not many genres would get worse due to some puzzles sprinkled in, so we'll definitely be back to both of those in various forms! Also, our general views on what makes games awesome are unlikely to ever change, so if you liked Puzzles for Clef, you might like our future games as well, and even open up to some new genres that you haven't had the chance to check out in the past! :3

----

Q3. I'm still waiting for the update to Puzzles for Clef, and now you're making a new game already? Is Clef abandoned?

A3. Not at all! On the contrary, some news about that update are coming soon. ;) The developers responsible for said update and the current stage of Soul Shuffler development are different people, so the two projects don't negatively influence each other in any form.

The Steam Summer Sale has finally arrived!

Dev Update #3

Every now and then we share some curious tidbits on the locations you'll get to explore in our game. Unsurprisingly, this post will contain some minor spoilers in one form or another.

Let us not dawdle though, the Clock Tower awaits in all its splendor!

Everyone on their way to the Tower gets to enjoy the sweet scent of the wisteria flowers blooming. Remember to pay attention to your surroundings though, the wonderful scenery might be hiding quite peculiar things.

Eventually, you'll reach the island's edge area… No reason to falter — there's no damage mechanic to stop you from sating that curiosity and jumping!

Just as you would expect, finding the tower will be rather easy. On the other hand, let's take this massive door…

Yeah, that will be knotty. Similar adjectives can be used for pretty much every obstacle you come across within the tower, but that's the fun part, eh? ;)

Riddles of all kinds are the main type of content that we aren't showcasing too often for a (hopefully) understandable reason. Experiencing all the puzzles yourself for the first time is the main joy of a puzzle game. Although we don't intend to stray from that approach in general, we find slightly tempting the appetite just as important!

Disabled energy flow within the tower will pose an issue for Clef's research. In order to resolve it, you'll need to figure out the logic behind this lever's angles. No hurry, though — take your time and muse.

Great minds often require equally great equipment. Building a huge mechanical dragon won't be possible without using your tools and materials to their maximum. Acknowledging that necessity, Percival has created not one but several top-notch workshops to realize his ambitions.

Clef will need to investigate them and analyze every discovered element. Knowing Cres, even seemingly insignificant details could turn out to be essential clues and should be regarded with appropriate suspicion.

While we're on the subject of workshops, check out one of them in this beautiful sketch-to-render animation!

As you're probably aware, not much time is left until the release day. Reaching this moment is already a triumph for a tiny team like ours, especially considering the circumstances, and we're grateful for all the support received along the way — even by just reading these lines, you're helping from our perspective. :)

Don't forget to look for the new message enciphered in this post, and check out the past ones if you haven't!

See you soon, treasure hunter!

Dev Update 2: The Year Of The Rabbit

The Year of the Rabbit is here, friends, and we'll do our best to introduce you to a couple of cute bunnies as soon as possible! 🐇 May the adventures you'll come across this year be the Phi-nest you've ever experienced, both in the real world and the virtual ones!

In this post, we'll show you another location from the game. As before, spoilers are inevitable, but we'll make sure to leave the tastiest secrets for you to experience on your own. 😉

Introducing the Crystal Orangerie!

This place is full of vegetation that needs some help to get through the colder seasons. The name hints at something more specific than just vegetation, though, right?

Among the many residents of this building, there's a very unusual tree. Its roots, mixed with giant Ardorum crystals, form an unforgettable sight for every visitor! The entire building was originally constructed to preserve this unique phenomenon, actually. Has this dualism influenced the tree and resulted in some peculiarities? You may find out in the game!

Obviously, flora requiring aid to survive through the cold would also need a caretaker. Let's greet Tove, the warm and hardworking turtle!

By the way, tending flowers is not her only occupation. She crafts jewelry of all kinds and loves using crystals mined on the island in her works. Even Cres had studied under Tove for a while before leaving the island. Tove can also cook like a chef and makes amazing tea, so definitely visit her cafe if you're around during the Warm Winds season.

And here's a little sneak peek at how some of the modular decorations are made! Consolidating several smaller and simpler assets like this allows us to create interesting compositions. Decking out various rooms and warehouses with these is especially effective. And messy places, even when created intentionally instead of naturally, feel more realistic, or maybe it's just us. 😅 This process also feels very similar to playing with construction toys once all the assets are ready!

And now, it's time for me to wrap this post up. Until next time, we'll be back with another dev update and cipher! Once again, we wish you a year packed with wonder and joy!
