RAILROADS Online! - Quick update

Dear Community,

after the announcement about the new partnership with Astragon Entertainment you have a lot of questions. We are well aware of that and are going to post a summary of the questions and answers next week, so the most important topics are covered in one post and you don't have to scroll through several threads to find all the information.

Next on the agenda are the following things:
- Overview of questions and answers
- Plan a proper QA (quality assurance) of the latest game build
- Define the necessary ressources to improve and further develop the game (to answer one of your questions already - the historical narrow gauge setting of RRO! with steam engines will of course stay :) )

Thank you for all your input and the positive reactions. We are looking forward to read more of your thoughts, ideas and feedback and come back to you soon.

Have a great weekend!

RAILROADS Online! - An important announcement to the community

Dear Community,

Today we are pleased to announce that with us a new partner joins the journey that is RAILROADS Online!

Who are we? We are astragon Entertainment and we've been working on and with simulation games since our company was brought to life. With our experience and knowledge that spans more than 20 years and our parent company Team17 Group behind us, we'd definitely call ourselves a group of simulation experts. Over the years, we've been working on several other franchises in the simulation genre – and from now on we'll work with these sleek railroads, too.

When the game came on our radar, we immediately recognized both your passion (which is tremendous) and the huge potential of the game. After a few get-togethers with the developer, we are extremely excited about the future and will work together to improve and expand the game. However, we are very well aware of recent controversies and what the mood currently looks like.

To be completely honest, us joining the project was a very spontaneous endeavor. Since late last week, we're trying to catch up with everything that happened over the last few weeks and months and get a full overview. This will definitely take a while to ensure that we're all on the same page. Until then, we really want to hear what your recent impressions and concerns are – please feel free to comment with everything you have in mind. It really matters to us.

Together with Keume (which you 100% all know, much longer than we do), we will read and listen to everything you have to say to better understand your expectations and strive to be as transparent as possible in our communication. To us, it's clear that this is the way to go. Our community managers Jana and Wladi (spoiler: he’s a train nerd) will support Keume from now on, so expect to read their names more often!

Just like mentioned above, we want to emphasize again that we really see a huge potential for the game and after a few of us spent a bunch of time playing it, we immediately saw why. Our team will probably spend even more hundreds of hours in the game (but we won't stop them). So... let's work together to create the best possible experience in RAILROADS Online!

We know you'll have lots and lots and lots of questions after reading this. Please keep in mind that we are not able to answer all of them yet (we reaaaaally need to catch up with things) but do not restrain from still posting them. Just to be clear: We only have good intentions for the game and we hope to gain your trust in the near future. We are aware that this is not granted automatically.

Thank you all so much, we are really looking forward to all of your feedback.

If you want to learn more about the astragon team, feel free to check out our website for more details.

Your astragon Entertainment team & Keume

RAILROADS Online! - EULA

Dear community,

I would like to take a moment to talk about the EULA.
As seen in recent reviews there seems to be confusion regarding the EULA.

For clarification:

The EULA has not been changed and there has NO NEW EULA been added. The info that the EULA has been changed, or that there is a new EULA is a rumor and a false report.

The EULA was uploaded with the Steam greenlight before the release and has not been changed since then.

Every user has my full permission to play RAILROADS Online! via STEAM in Single and Multiplayer and to stream, post, share footage, screenshots etc. of Railroads Online! on the internet and all SOCIAL NETWORKS.

What is not legal is to remove the STEAM copy protection and to play the game over a COMPUTER NETWORK other than STEAM without my written permission.

Please like and share this message to make everyone aware.

Thank you for your support!

Kind regards
Stefan Kelnberger

RAILROADS Online! - Official announcement of the developer

Dear Community,

this is Keume, the programmer of this game.
Please take a moment and read my entire text before commenting.

I am aware that there is still a lot of potential for improvement, especially with regard to community management.
That's why I'm going to take time to restructure the entire team.
Since I can't estimate when the restructuring of the team will be completed, the Discord will remain closed until further notice, as I want to avoid incidents like the ones that happened recently.
As soon as there is news regarding the team, I will of course inform you about it.

I would like to personally apologize to the community and especially to all those affected for the injustice suffered. I can understand that you are upset, angry and sad about this situation.
It is my responsibility to ensure that such incidents do not happen. I have not fulfilled this responsibility. I will do my best so that such events do not happen again.

I will continue to work on the development. I will post updates to you regularly.
Despite all the rumours, I would like to deny that I have given up game development.

Due to the numerous forum posts I have decided to focus primarily on improving the existing version and removing existing bugs.
From the feedback I received on the spline update, I concluded that this needs to be adapted to the existing system. I will make this adjustment in parallel to improving the current version.

I'm sorry that there has been such unrest in the community. My wish remains that you continue to enjoy Railroads Online! and you don't have to worry about the further development of the game.

Best Regards
Keume

EDIT:
1. Spline Update: The update will be adjusted, so that you can use the current physics system with the benefits of the new and easier spline handling.
2. Gauge: The american 3ft (914mm) narrow gauge will stay and will not be removed or swapped with another gauge. In the future for versions beyond 1.0 i can provide other gauges if there is a demand in the community for that.
3. Time: As I am restructuring the team, I can not give you any timeframe yet but I will update you as soon as everything is clear.

Thank you for your support and feedback!

Best regards,
Keume
