Happy New Year! | Small Patch

Hello Ranchers!

Happy New Year!!
We hope you're having a great start to 2023.
This small patch removes the Christmas Tree from the blueprints book and some 'unavailable' item listings in the stores. We have also fixed not being able to build plants inside houses.

We're excited to be starting work on the UE5 upgrade, for more details on what is coming next for Ranch Simulator here is the previous announcement: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1119730/view/3506644237690516106?l=english

Crop/Wheat Farming + Tractors Out Now! | Unreal Engine 5 Upgrade Announced!

Hello farmers,

The long awaited, highly requested crop farming update is finally here! Read on for details on the update plus exciting news on the future of Ranch Sim!

Today's update adds three plots at the end of your Ranch, near the mountains, where you can plant crops and farm various seeds.

There are also 2 new vehicles to purchase from the car shop: the tractor and harvester, plus a number of attachments for each, available at the hardware store.

Drive the tractor to cultivate your land, spread your seeds and fertiliser, and transport the crops in a grain trailer once harvested.

Driving the harvester, you can harvest the various crops, using the appropriate equipment attachments (sunflower/corn/grain). Once crops have been harvested, you can empty the harvester into a grain trailer. Harvested grain can be used to fill up a granary to provide feed for your livestock - or you can simply sell it to make some extra cash.

The Future of Ranch Sim + Unreal Engine 5 Upgrade

We have come to the end of our previously announced roadmap, so it's time to share with you the exciting next steps for Ranch Sim!

Unreal Engine 5 Upgrade - Enhanced Visuals, Performance and More

Up next, we're taking the time to upgrade Ranch Sim from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. This is a big undertaking development-wise, but one which will improve game quality in some key and exciting ways.

We estimate that the UE5 upgrade work will take between 6 - 8 months. Along the way, we will provide regular sneak peeks and news updates to keep you all in the loop! Here's some of the reasons we're excited about the engine upgrade, and we hope you are too!

Enhanced Visuals
The engine upgrade will allow us to push visuals to the next level, with enhancements to lighting, environments and more.

Optimisation Improvements
Something we've been hearing loud and clear from you, the community, is that performance needs improving. Especially for larger ranches with more livestock, we expect to see notable improvements to framerate for some of you, depending on your PC and specs, once we have upgraded to UE5.

New Content and Improvements - Pets, Controller Support, Achievements and more!

We're delighted to reveal what we have planned following the Unreal Engine 5 upgrade, including a number of community-requested features and enhancements:

  • Pets - yes, we can confirm that dogs and cats are coming to your ranch! 🐢🐱
  • Steam achievements
  • Controller support
  • Animation rework
  • Various gameplay improvements based on community feedback

1 Dec 2022 Full Patch Notes

New:
- Tractor, plus attachments: cultivator (to prepare the land for seeding), seeder, fertiliser trailer and grain trailer (to transport grain once harvested)
- Harvester, plus attachments: sunflower header, corn header, grain header (to harvest appropriate crops)
- Grain can be sold at the store, or used to fill the granary to feed livestock
- 3 farming fields located on the ranch [warning: if you have any buildings here they will need removing to use the farm land. We have also lowered the ground so buildings or items left may be floating - please move those]
- Christmas tree + decorations are back for December! Check the tree each in-game day for a present.

Happy ranching, happy holidays to those who celebrate, and keep an eye out for regular dev updates next year on the Unreal Engine 5 upgrade!

Thanks,
The Ranch Sim Team

Hot Fix

Hello ranchers,

Lets try this again!
The previous, temporarily removed patch had been redone and is live again - hopefully this time with no multiplayer issues. We spent a few days testing with a small group of volunteers on our Discord / Unstable Branch that all said multiplayer was working as expected.

This patch fixes an issue with invisible plants which could not be removed and the crop plot had to be demolished. The cause of this was saving and quitting the game with a plant that had died (due to the seed deteriorating), when loading, that plant was invisible.
If you have an invisible plant from before this patch, you will need to demolish and replant it unfortunately.

Happy Ranching!

UPDATE NOW LIVE | Gardening, Greenhouses!

Hello ranchers,

We're excited to announce that the September update is now live! We've added a much requested gardening system, with 8 crop types for you to cultivate and grow - including tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, strawberries and more. Each crop requires different amounts of water, has a different growth time, can get diseased and require additional care from agricultural medicine, and can be fertilized to accelerate growth. Plants can be grown outdoors, or in a greenhouse.

There's a sprinkler, for automatically watering crops, and a composter, for converting animal faeces to fertiliser, now available to buy in the store.

We've also added glass, allowing you to build greenhouses - plus introduced some NPC traffic to the map, making the world feel more lived in and alive!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1119730/Ranch_Simulator/

Full Patch Notes

New
- Added gardening system
- 8 types of cultivated crops: tomatoes, cabbage, watermelon, pumpkin, grapes, strawberries, peppers, pineapple. Plants can be grown outdoors, or in a greenhouse. Note that ordinary roofs for growing will not work.
- New resource: Glass (used in the construction of the greenhouse)
- Added simple traffic to the map: NPC vehicles now move along the roads and react to the player's driving (eg slowing down/stopping). Roads have been reworked.
- Sprinkler (purchase from general store): place inside crop plots, or on the ground outside and they will automatically water in a small area when within the radius of the windmill
- Composter (purchase from general store): when holding it you can put animal faeces inside which will convert it into fertiliser

Changes/fixes
- Roads have been reworked on the map (note: in some places, especially near the general store the landscape has changed which can lead to the loss of things that are parked on the road near the store when loading a save - please ensure items are moved before updating)
- Removed EOS registration window (pop-up)
- Decreased the chance of rain in weather system
- We found the cause of some lag spikes for clients, as well as an FPS drop in the area of the tent on the ranch - these have been fixed

What's Next?

In November we will be adding some hugely requested features:

- Crop/wheat production and harvesting
- Tractors

Enjoy the new update, and happy ranching!

Roadmap Update + Gardening and Greenhouse Release Date Revealed

Hello ranchers,

While getting working on gardening, greenhouses, wheat/crop production and tractors, we realised that to do it all justice we need to split the update in two.

This approach gives each feature the development time it deserves - and we'd rather spend more time to get these heavily requested features right rather than launching before its ready.

We're excited to reveal that gardening and greenhouses will launch on 29 September, with crop/wheat production and harvesting, plus tractors arriving in November.

Gardening and Greenhouses

In the September update you'll be able to build your own greenhouse, using the build anywhere system that the game employs for coops and buildings. From there, you'll be able to expand your ranching operation by buying and planting seeds, growing grapes, beetroot, strawberries, watermelons, pumpkins and more.

We can't wait to get gardening and greenhouses into your hands, so see you on 29 September!

Thanks,
The Ranch Sim Team

UPDATE NOW LIVE | Goats, Bees, Transport Trailers, Banks and Loans!

Hey ranchers!

We've just launched a big content update for Ranch Sim!

Expand your array of livestock with male and female goats. They can breed and give birth to kids (baby goats), and you can also now produce goat's milk and goat's cheese! Diversify your produce by slaughtering goats for meat, ready to sell.

Explore the wilds and you may find bees! Use the bee smoker to calm them down, allowing you to safely approach and put the bees into a frame. Back at your ranch, you can now build a beehive and, using a honey extractor and barrel, produce sweet honey to sell.

We've also added bank loans, which are useful when you're short on cash - take one out by visiting the bank, located next to the car shop. Be careful though, as the bank does charge interest! The bigger the loan, the smaller the interest rate. You have a couple of options for how you wish to pay off your loans too: pay it back at the auto daily rate, or visit the bank to pay it off in full.

Additionally, we've added fuel and animal transport trailers which are purchasable from the hardware store. The animal transport trailers are especially useful for transporting your larger livestock!

Full Patch Notes

New:
- Goats, goat cheese and mold for goat's milk (goat's milk cannot be mixed with cow's milk)
- Bees
- Bee Smoker (used to calm bees to allow them to be handled)
- Hive Frame (used to collect bees from wild nests in trees)
- Wooden Beehive and Honey Extractor, available to build in the blueprints book
- Barrel (used to collect honey from the extractor)
- Bank loans
- Fuel transport trailer
- Animal transport trailer
- Day counter (open the in-game menu to view)
- Glossary addition for goats and bees

Fixes/changes:
- Animals will no longer phase through the large wood gate
- Money limit increased to 10,000,000
- Horse collisions adjusted
- Updated to the latest version of the EOS SDK. This may prompt a one time only pop-up about connecting Epic and Steam accounts. This is optional and can be ignored, unless you want to play cross-play with a user on a different platform.

What's Next?

In September we'll be adding crop/wheat production and harvesting, gardening, a greenhouse and more! These features are based on popular requests from you, the community. We can't wait for you to get your hands on the September update, but, for now, we hope you have a great time with today's content update! Goats and bees await.

Happy ranching!
