RE:OZMA launch crowdfunding campaign'itch.io'. The reason for the delay is that the national policy of Indigogo(excluding Korean companies) has recently changed. So we changed our decision to run the funding campaign through 'itch.io'. We're sorry about the delay.

We'd like to complete our game 'RE:OZMA' with backers.

We've made three prototypes, we've turned them upside And we've been spending a year and eight months of R&D time upside down. The development schedule is always beyond our expectations, and we've met many variables.

We are pleased to announce a free demo application!
RE:OZMA will launch Indiegogo(Global) campaign on November 25 and Wadiz(KOREA) at the same time! And we started our crowdfunding 'open notice' campaign in Korea(Wadiz) today.

A new trailer released in commemoration of this crowdfunding will introduce the introductory story and main contents of RE:OZMA. In particular, on the newly released “shooter” genre planet, we have made the first public release of a “shooter” game map created and played directly on items and materials acquired on the sandbox planet.

Demo & crowdfunding of the RE:OZMA is coming!

It's been a long time. We've got a news update in a month.
We will update the situation of RE:OZMA today.


(This is a set of 3 wings, one of the RE:OZMA crowdfunding rewards!)

We've been busy preparing for the demo and crowdfunding at the same time. And
It took more time than our expected development schedule, so we announced this on the last day of October. Unfortunately, we had to reschedule.

We apologize for the delayed notice. It would be appreciated if you would understand our situation.

1.RE:OZMA Changes: Added new genre +1


RE:OZMA pursues change and challenges every day.
The core value is to make it a “game what you can enjoy unlimited fun by your choice."




We are pursuing an 'infinitely expandable game' by combining with various game genres on the basic ground genre ‘sandbox’. Planets in RE:OZMA can be 'different genre planets'. Each planet has its own genre and you can play the game to suit your purpose and taste. In other words, you can move to another game planet at your own choice, where you can play new games there, or create your own. And an important point! Items and character information obtained from the sandbox are organically linked between the planets, affecting different genres.

In addition, we are planning a content plan for one year after launch, and there are other game changes. After the crowdfunding opens, we will see the changes!

2. DEMO application will open from next week!





The demo build is almost finished. (We got so thrilled! ːsteamhappyː)

Scheduled to be released in November, only users who have received a pre-application from the next week and completed the questionnaire will be provided with a steam key by e-mail.

-Users will receive an admission ticket for private discord development.
-This private demo build will only be tested in the sandbox area and will be available in both single and multiplayer.


More details on how to participate and announcements regarding the demo will be available next week.

3. Crowdfunding!


This time it's Crowdfunding's second reward Riozma snapback! Look forward to another reward!



After starting Shiftrik, we seem to meet a lot of things we do first.
Crowdfunding is also the first to challenge our lives.

The biggest reason for crowdfunding is looking for gamers who can grow together with RE:OZMA. Engaged in the gaming industry, we have met many users, not online or offline. The memory that the users who met 10 years ago remembered and gave sincere advice 5 years ago is still vivid. We thought that crowdfunding would meet this relationship.

'How can we express the fun of RE: OZMA?'

So we require a lot of trial and error.

Today we are finally revealing RE:OZMA's new demo trailer and our further plan.

This demo trailer shows changes in RE: OZMA until recently.
And it focuses on the sandbox and space strategy genres and gives a glimpse into RE:OZMA's unique stats and skill system.

Skill system allows you to play with your own strategy by placing skill that collects through monsters, quests, and manufacturing to suit your situation. It also includes a recently changed game UI. In the next dev diary, we will deal with more detail about each feature.


2.Indiegogo campaign & Playing demo version





RE:OZMA will launch an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds for the final phase of game development. In October, a demo version will be released exclusively to backers.

We are close to the identity of our game that we are seeking. Any feedback and attention would be appreciated. Details will be announced soon.

Dev Diary #8 - Truths and Misunderstandings about RE:OZMA

For those of you who've never met RE:OZMA



Hello, everyone

First of all, I would like to thank everyone for visiting the RE: OZMA store page.
Thank you for your interest.
I'm Kelly, CEO of Shiftrick, developer of RE: OZMA.

I had a lot of worries and thoughts about writing this. I was afraid.
(I wrote several times and erased it repeatedly.)

I've seen some users write that RE:OZMA is similar to specific titles. It's very heartbreaking and embarrassing. Because it's not what we intended.
But because we have a clue to this, we can't just watch this situation anymore.
In the hope of solving our misunderstandings, I write our first post here.

-RE:OZMA is not just a sandbox


RE:OZMA is a Mash-up genre game that combines sandbox and space simulation genres,
shooting, roguelike, RPG, platformer. Recently mentioned in Dev Diary # 5, 6, 7, we are constantly looking for our own colors.

The biggest reason we started the company is that we want to have fun and play games with our users. 'We want to enjoy the game together with the users, and complete it together'. And I wanted to give you a good experience.

-The big reason why we chose sandbox as the fundamental genre


The first thing we talked about as a company after we were established was that we would like to reflect our own image into our game. We wanted to put our unique and freewheeling personalities into our game.
In order to create a unique and free game world, we start by searching for the best foundation for it; without being said, it is a ‘sandbox’ genre.

1)It's embarrassing but it's the first prototype of our game in Jun 2018.

(Our game was called 'EXTRA LIFE' at the time.)



It is our situation to challenge the indie game for the first time. Initially, we focused on the implementation of basic dungeons, random terrain, and procedural terrain.

2)2nd Prototype of September 2018



We chose the concept of finding a new life in the vast outer space, aliens as the worldview, where the user and the planet interact. (We will later reveal the hidden story of why we chose aliens and the universe.)

3)3rd Prototype of February 2019



This was the third prototype we developed in a year. We participated in the PAX EAST exhibition with this version.

We brought a vast universe of space, the concept of aliens looking for new life into the worldview, where they embody the interaction between users and planets.

We decided to take on new challenges through the fusion of 'sandbox' with other genres.



As time went by, we focused on researching and implementing 'sandbox' itself. It wasn't really easy. It was hard to find a sample to reference, and we started to study and find games that were recognized in the genre. Indeed, the games were very great and I don't think it's something we can compare to.
In February 2019, we released a video under development at PAX EAST in March with the idea of implementing a sandbox. In fact, we think it was so misleading to disclose this too early stage.

-The biggest reason we release our past prototypes


The reason we release our past prototypes and development process is that we are ready to accept any questions or feedback as long as we can resolve the misunderstandings of our users.

-Please play first and judge our identity.


Since then, we've been studying different genres (space simulation, shooting, RPG, Platformer) following the sandbox and getting closer to the Mash-up genre. Next month(0ct. 2019), the demo version is coming out.

And we removed the controversial videos from Youtube, the Steam store, and the Website.
And we're eliminating or changing all the controversial parts of the game.

In the future, we will show you a game containing our own colors.

This is RE:OZMA's latest version of the main menu loading/Animation and character customization screen.
And tutorial quest. (Added on September 5)

Dev Diary #7 - About Identity of RE:OZMA / Sandbox in renewal



Hello.
Half of August has already passed!
Today is the second Dev diary in August.

1. Our current situation



Since the introduction of "RE: OZMA's genre expansion" last month, development work has been ongoing.

-Implementation of each genre:
We are improving the completeness of our sandbox and space simulation genre. After this development is completed, the next genre will be developed.

-Hybrid of the genre :
It is a combination of six different game genres, such as sandbox, strategy simulation, RPG, rogue-like, platformer, and shooting. Thus allowing the development of the materials and items acquired by each game genre so that they can be used in other games.

-Alpha Testing:
The build is currently under construction and will be in alpha testing in September.

-Crowdfunding:
It is scheduled to launch in September and is in preparation.


2.New illustration of RE:OZMA



We have recently completed illustrations that represent RE: OZMA.
We wanted to portray the emptiness, exploration and excitement of the moment as we enter a new alien civilization.

We will use this illustration everywhere, on our game, homepage, in the store, on social media.

And we will continue to draw illustrations to express our world and story.





3. 2D Sandbox in renewal, coloring our personality




Sandbox is the first challenge for us.
The biggest reason for Shiftrick's founding and developing games is to provide "fun to play together". To do this, we're taking on a new challenge of mash-up different genres based on the sandbox. It also plans to challenge online network play and even cross-platform.





We founded the company last year, and for a year and half we've focused on the genre of “sandbox” itself and on implementing the functionality. After researching and referring to an example of an existing sandbox game, we developed the features and systems needed for the 2D sandbox directly with the Unity engine.

The first prototype was demonstrated at PAX EAST 2019 in March this year.
(It was a first game show to us)
Since opening the steam store in April, there has been some feedback that it is similar to a certain sandbox game. Of course, that could happen because we studied and referenced 2D sandbox game. And we also developed space simulation, roguelike, a platformer with Unity ourselves. We think this happened because we released the trailer the early stages only about 'sandbox' of development too quickly.


We think that as an indie game developer should be recognized for our individuality and ability. And we want to develop a way of reflecting the way we are in our games. We wanted to put our unique and freewheeling personalities into our game.

We will continue to listen and hear from you and try to improve.

Dev Diary #6 - Dev progress of space simulation


Hello, everyone. It's the beginning of August.
Time flies like a wing. :)

1.We're challenging every day.


We released last week about RE:OZMA's new genre expansion and our team continue to develop it. RE:OZMA is a “Mash-up genre game” that combines 2D sandbox with, strategy, space simulation, shooting, roguelike, RPG, and platformer genres.



Today we're going to share pixel art and programming news related to space simulation. Let's start!

2. About "Antimatter" in RE:OZMA space



When the players explore space, they encounter tens of thousands of scattered antimatter. The amount of antimatter depends on the location of the space. This antimatter is taken as a base material for everything that is produced in the space, such as gas, units, buildings, and so on.





And players can install defense facilities and gas stations to defend their planet.



And the player will be able to produce units for attacking, conquering, and defending other planets.

3. Pixel art of unit and troop deployment & combat development progress

In space, players can combine food, gas, and antimatter to create various units. We will create a variety of units to give them variety in battle.

Units are used in various combat strategies.
Players will be able to build structures to defend their planets with various materials from the sandbox and attack them. Our developer creates the terrain temporarily, and players can create any kind of creatures to defend.
