We want to start by saying thank you—truly—for being part of the Hometopia journey. Your creativity and support have meant the world to our small team.
After an incredible run, we’ve made the very difficult decision to end active development and live operations for Hometopia. While we had bigger dreams for it, funding constraints mean this is the final version. Our team is no longer able to support updates, bug fixes, or new features.
That said, Hometopia will remain live and fully playable for anyone who owns it—and starting April 2, we’re offering it at a legacy discount of $8.99 so even more players can experience what the community helped build. This is our way of preserving the game and giving fans a chance to enjoy it on their own terms.
Starting April 2, Hometopia will enter “Legacy Mode”:
All current content will remain playable
The game will continue to be available on Steam
No further updates, bug fixes, or technical support will be provided
Community spaces like the Steam forums and Hometopia Discord will remain open for players to connect and share; however we will revisit this policy if the Discord becomes overwhelmed with spam or toxic content
We heard you in the reviews, discord and discussions that pulling career mode out during development has frustrated many of you. Career mode is still available to play in an older version of the game. If you'd like to revisit the old Career Mode, just follow these simple steps:
1. Right-click Hometopia in your Steam library 2. Select Properties 3. Go to Betas 4. Choose "Hometopia Old Career Mode" from the dropdown menu
We know this news may be disappointing—it is for us too. We poured our hearts into Hometopia and dreamed of building it alongside you for years to come. While this chapter is coming to a close, we’re proud of what we created, and even prouder of the community that formed around it.

Happy Holidays, everyone! Update 8.2 is here and brings many fixes and improvements:
On-screen control hints have now been implemented. They can be hidden in the settings menu.
Doors can now be placed above a T-joint on a lower floor
Doors and windows are now able to be painted properly
Fixed the annoying audio bug when placing a prebuilt home or loading a scene containing a prebuilt.
Fixed some multiplayer lobby issues that caused players to get stuck in the UI
Fixed some multiplayer lobby UI issues
Fixed the transition from fly to walk so that it doesn't stop your movement after transitioning
Footsteps are now their own audio settings
Fixed issue with windows getting stuck on countertops
Fixed collision issue with some counter types
Fixed an issue that could cause the UI to become blurry
Fixed the cutout system so installing appliances of non-square shapes looks correct
