0.80.1 Fixes Update

Hey! Smaller update just went out adding a few small things and fixing some bugs! Big update coming in the next few months :)

0.80.1

  • Fixed some weird scrolling on the crafting menus.
  • Fixed bug with selecting survivors.
  • Fixed a pathing bug.
  • Added new help menu section for power.
  • Added new patreon supporter names to random name list

Update .80. Farming re-work and tons of improvements!

Hey guys!! Long time without an update. Hope it was worth the wait. We changed a ton of big and little things behind the scenes in this update. Lets get into some of the bigger changes.

Farming rework

One of larger changes this update is how farming is treated. previously you would start the game with ALL of the farming options already unlocked. This would be very confusing as you don't know what you should or shouldn't be growing. Farming plots now must be researched per crop you are trying to grow! Lots of crops have been sprinkled through the tech tree, as well we have added a new category of 'Farming' to the bottom of the tech tree.

Ease of use improvements

The biggest complaint about Rekindling has always been its hard for new players to figure out what is going on. As such we have put a lot of effort into trying to streamline some things such as help tooltips and guiding the user to show them when something is happening in their colony. On top of that we have added new sections to the help menu for new players to learn more of the game!

Supply drops

A new random event of 'supply drops' have been added! This is another way for your settlement to get some much needed supplies before you have researched things. Supply crates and luggage will now fall from the sky occasionally grant you a multitude of fresh equipment.

More complex survivors

We have added a ton more random traits, professions and backstories for survivors to help give more variety when deciding to accept survivors into your settlement or not. From Pet lover to Frail your survivors will have some more uniqueness to them.

Behind the scenes fanciness

As always we have been working on our game engine powering Rekindling FreakingSweet almost non stop. Rekindling is now only our second game to be upgraded to be using FreakingSweet 2.0 with only our other newest release Goo Gladiators using it, this opens a ton of potential for thing in the future such as better online interactions and even cross platform play!

Final Thoughts

Thank you guys for showing support for Rekindling for all these years! This was a nice size update, but we had to delay a lot of the features we had planned for it. A lot of framework things are now firmly in place to get the the 'end game'. My goal is to start to button up a few more features (multiplayer, survivor control, ect..) to get us ready for a 'full release' sometime hopefully in the near future. As always please feel free to let me know what you would like to see next or what you think of the game either in a Steam Review, the Steam Forums or over on our Discord!

Update .79. Blood Moons, new Zim Types & more.

Lots of new features and fixes in this one! So strap in. Also In the effort of trying to be fancier I also made a video summary here:
[previewyoutube="qPN4Db8_owc;full"]

For those of you who prefer to read....

Blood moons

Every 15 days in game now there will be a BLOOD MOON. The BLOOD MOON, has a significantly increased Zim spawn rate and you need to prepare in order to survive the night!!

New Zim variant: Oozers

A new type of zim is on the prowl! Oozers are slightly weaker and slower than normal Zims however they drop a toxic purple ooze on death. This ooze will taint the ground and slowly spawn zims on that tile, Even during the day!

Lightning rods

A few things have been added to help reduce the devastation of forest fires. Firstly we have added a new building, Lightning rods! They cover a large area and will direct lightning to them instead of nearby forests and structures. As well ash that is left in a burnt forest will slowly replant trees in the surrounding areas.

Combat AI reworks

Lots of little things have been added to tweak the survivor AI. One of these is survivors will now be more directly responsive when a friend is being attacked by a zim. As well survivors will give up on impossible jobs much more quickly than they used to.

Leaderboard reset!!

Breaking Mastergamings commanding grip on the top leaderboard scores. We have reset the leaderboard and put a new champion! The difficulty has changed with blood moons and the new Zim type hence the change. The next champion spot is up for grabs!

Final Thoughts

As always thank you guys so much for the continued support! More updates are still in store for Rekindling as the game grows. As always feel free to leave us a review on Steam or hop in the discord to let us know what you want to see next or even just your thoughts on the update.

As well some fun new features such as Boss wave nights and "Blood Moon" days are in the works for the next update!

Our third game Operation Zeta is out now!

Hey guys. Wanted to let know you that our Third game Operation Zeta is out of Early Access! You can read more about the release HERE, It would mean a ton for you guys to check it out. Operation Zeta is also out now on Xbox. There is even a couple quests/ lore that talk about the ZTD Virus and Rekindling as all our games are in a connected universe. Even a quick Wishlist of the game goes a long way.

One of the over 100 NPCs giving out a quest

Where have I seen this guy before...

[H1]What does this mean for Rekindling?
You may of noticed the pace of updates for Rekindling has slowed down. This is because we have been hard at work on Operation Zeta's release into early access. I want to continue to update and add things to Rekindling as long as the interest in the game is still there. We have a decently sized update with a ton of fixes ready to go, but are waiting to add a few more things and for Operation Zeta to come out before we release this update. Expect more updates now that Operation Zeta is out. Thank you guys for the continued support!

Update 0.77 Mech suits & performance Improvements

Hey guys! New update is out. Tons of new stuff from new equipable mech suits to things falling from the sky! Lets go over some of the highlights.

Mech Suits

We have added a new way to protect your survivors and improve their work output! Rideable mechs.
Mechs are crafted at the new building the V-Bay. In future you will be able to craft other vehicles at this station. After they are crafted you can assign a survivor to one and they will enter it. Once inside the vehicle will enhance their work output as well as serve as a protective barrier from enemies!

Item textures revamp

As the game grows older some of the old textures for items looked not up to standard with the rest of the game. As such we went through all of the items in the game and re-drew and touched up the majority of them. Some of the changes can be spotted just from the start!

Objects from space!

New random events have been added. Space debris will now fall from the sky. This will be yet another source of renewable metal. However be careful as it will destroy structures and start fires on impact!

Performance improvements

A deep dive on things that would cause the game to drop below 60 FPS was done and a ton of improvements have been made. The power network had a massive backend overhaul and now runs significantly better. As well the power view mode would cause lag on large bases in previous updates, It now runs at a crisp 60 FPS!

Final thoughts

The update finally got here! Sorry for the delays lots of things have been coming up recently that have made it harder to get things done on Rekindling. Plenty more is planned for Rekindling that didn't make the cut this update, but is already half done, such as transport belts and automated buildings! Thank you guys for your continued support as always let us know what you think of the game and the update via the Steam forums, Discord or with a Steam Review (those help us out a ton :) ) and of course if you are feeling extra generous to support our projects check us out on Patreon

Update 0.76 Power and Security.

Lots of fun reworks and better ways to control your settlement this update!

Security

We have made it easier to make your survivors be safe at night! Survivors will only do jobs at night that are designated in the 'safe areas'. To aid in this we have added an new 'safe area' view mode that shows safe areas, as well we have added a new 'Security tab' in the bottom right. In future this tab with also contain survivor patrols and other fun things revolving around safety.

Power Reworks

The way power works has also been changed. We have completely removed wires and now have a new item called "Power node" Power nodes are automatically connected to your power grid and give an aura nearby of what they are also connecting to the network. All powered items need to be connected to the grid in order to function. We have also reworked the power view mode to help you see at a glance what is on the grid and how much power your power items have.

Spiffing up of menus

We have started to overhaul the look and feel of a lot of the menus. as you can see the main menu looks completely different. Many of the icons for menus and such have changed in the main menu as well as in game. We have more we want to do with it, but its off to a good start.

Final thoughts

Desert Zombie Llving

We have added another option for a starting environment: Desert. Deserts provide a new challenge of limited starting wood and a higher base temperature. It will be vital to setup tree farms right away to stand a chance!

More Animals

We have added 7 new animals this update! All with their own stats and traits. As well certain animals will now have a high chance to poison survivors (Snakes, scorpions) so be careful when fighting them. ZTD isn't the only illness to fear. As well we have rebalanced a lot of the existing animals for other biomes to make a more balanced experience.

Other fixes/changes

We have modified a tweaked a lot of smaller aspects of this game this update as well to make a more enjoyable and balanced experience. Such as turrets will now be more proactive in finding targets to attack, Bricks are cheaper and fire will spread less than it did before.

Final thoughts

As usual thank you for all of the support we have been given! We made a ton of the art for this update live over on Twitch if you want to see more behind the scenes stuff and come hang out! This update was going to be a lot larger with the addition of vehicles as well, but they do not function up to our standards for release yet so expect them next update with other fun things. Update 0.74 Smarter Survivors. New items, Leaderboard Reset!

Hey guys! Another content update has come out! We have added some new items, we have improved the combat AI for survivors, added some more sound effects and even fixed some more bugs.

Survivor AI Reworks

One of the largest impacts that you will notice is survivors will be far less aggressive with chasing random Zims on the map. They will now be a lot more conservative in their fights. This will lead to it being easy to manage settlements without your survivors going off and dying all the time!!

Science balances

A large complaint was that science can be really hard to get started especially if you don't have a properly skilled and dedicated scientist. We have reworked a ton of the values for the first few starting science blobs. Some are cut more than 60% of what they were before!! As well we have added basic furniture on the science tab!

New Items

We have also added some new items! Some tables, chairs, stools and a radio to help make your settlement feel more like an actual settlement! Survivors will be happier the more of these items they have around them. The tables and chairs will have more interactive uses in future updates as well so stay tuned ;)

Leaderboard Reset

With all the changes listed we have reset the leaderboard and put the leader in the hall of fame!!! Here are the top 5 for this past group of updates. Someone needs to de-throne MasterGaming!

Other small improvements and fixes

As well this update we have gone and fixed a ton of bugs and added some more 'ease of use' things. More sound effects and music will play at points as well as things like the scheduler showing when day and night is!

Final thoughts
