The 1 year Anniversary update is now live, bringing with it a new game mode!
New Features
Added a new Mode Called Troll Mode
Two New Achievements
Changes
Improved Textures and materials on some levels
Typical bug fixes.
Hello everyone I wanted to apologise for the delayed update, the reason it was delayed is that Unreal Engine 5 was giving the game major issues so I have had to revert back to Unreal Engine 4. However, most of the planned UE5 improvements have been implemented in various ways.
Please enjoy the update everyone!
Introducing Troll Mode, Coming In The Last Rent's Due: The Game Update.
Hello everyone, a very short update today to talk about the new mode coming to Rent's Due: The Game in the last update for the game!
The new Mode is called Troll Mode!
In this mode its the core gameplay loop of Rent's Due: The Game. However, things are a lot different at the same time. For example, if you run into some cash it might explode and respawn you? This mode is all about tricking the player and making them laugh a little bit. This mode will not feature every single level as I feel like it could get very repetitive so you will play a total of 6 levels in troll mode. These levels are Level 1, 2, 3, 8, 21 & 26.
Along with this update the game will be getting 2 new achievements relating to the new mode,. The First will be for just playing Troll Mode. The last will be for beating troll mode!
If troll mode does well and the players like it then I might add to it in the future whenever I can.
One last piece of information you guys should know is that Rent's Due: The Game recently moved to Unreal Engine 5. In the new update for the game You will see better shadows, thanks to Nanite I have managed to apply new materials to some foliage in levels, including new tree textures on Level 21, as well as a new platform material on said level.
Also coming is better lighting thanks to lumen, I have tried to optimise this as much as possible but it does come with a slight performance increase on levels that use the new lumen lighting. Levels that don't take advantage of Lumen will use Screen Space Global Illumination instead.
Lastly since Rent's Due has moved to a whole new engine, there may be some bugs and other problems that have slipped through the cracks, If you happen to encounter any issues then please post in the community forums or send an email to help.scottygames@gmail.com.
I look forward to releasing this final update for the game, I hope everyone has a nice week, see you all on August 26th for the One Year Anniversary!
Rent's Due: The Game 1 Year Anniversary Update
Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well!
Rent's Due: The Game is turning 1 soon and honestly for my first game it has been a long and hard road but we got here in the end. To mark the special occasion, Rent's Due: The Game will be getting a new update which will also be it's last.
This update will mostly be bug fixes but it may contain a few surprises. Maybe a new mode???
Anyway I apologise for the very vague update, it's very sad to me that this will be the games last update but I have already started working on a couple new projects and I think its time I speak a little bit about them.
Project 1997: This is the name I have been using throughout the early development stages, its not the official title but you will know what that is soon enough. Anyway what is this game? Well Project 1997 is a multiplayer horror game built using Unreal Engine 5. The game is very early in development but I will hopefully have some more stuff to reveal in the coming months!
ProjectSurvivalMP: This one is fairly obvious but this project will be a survival multiplayer game taking place in a vast open world using world engine along with Unreal Engine 5! This project actually has a small group of people working on it compared to just the two that worked on Rent's Due. This game will feature 6 player coop (If all goes to plan) in a story of trying to survive in a beautiful yet deadly world brought to life by world engine and Unreal Engine 5.
These projects are very early in development but if you want to keep up with the latest news and devlogs on these projects then please keep an eye out on future announcements on the Rent's Due page as we will soon be releasing our website!
Thank you all so much for the support over the last year, hopefully we can create more great games in the future!

Rent's Due: The Game version 1.1 will be releasing in May
Hello everyone I wanted to post a short update detailing the new content dropping for Rent's Due: The Game on May 20th, 2022.
The game will be receiving 3 new levels, I am happy to detail what they will be like right now.
Level 24: Level 24 will be a level similar to how Level 1-5 are designed however instead of water you will now have to deal with acid along with new traps and new mechanics to help you get through levels in new ways.
Level 25: Level 25 is something very new while it has the core Rent's Due: The Game mechanics, Level 25 will offer a dark and gritty map with AI roaming around the map however it will be hard to see them as this map takes advantage of fog and thunder and lightning. The map will be similar to how Level 23 was designed with a strong focus on landscape design and detail.
Level 26: Level 26 will be very colourful and vibrant compared to Level 25. Level 26 is very unique as it is completely made out of delicious candy or sweets if you are not in the states. This level will feature pink Volumetric Clouds, Brand New Assets and new traps. Level 26 is my favourite as it is such a shift from levels I have made previously and I really cant wait to show it off once Version 1.1 release on May 20th.
Rent's Due: The Game will also be receiving some quality of life updates as well. I want to start this off with addressing the GPU issue where when you play Rent's Due it can sometimes get really high in the GPU Usage department. So to combat this from Version 1.1 onwards you will now be able to limit the frame rate to reduce the GPU usage and to reduce screen tear on screens that have a refresh rate of 60 or below. This update will add the ability to run the game at 30FPS, 60 FPS, 74 FPS, 90 FPS, 120 FPS, 144FPS and finally you can choose to run the game on unlimited which is by default. Remember if you have a monitor that has a low refresh rate then please choose the setting in the main menu or pause menu while in game.
See you on May 20th.
Next Content Update Dropping Soon.
Hello everyone, I hope you are all doing well and have been enjoying your gaming! I wanted to let you know what to expect in the next content update for Rent's Due: The Game.
First, let's start with new levels. In the upcoming update, the game will be getting 3 new levels, each with a different setting and traps you haven't seen in Rent's Due yet. I am nearly finished with Level 24 and will start on Level 25 & 26 as soon as I am happy with Level 24.
I also would like to announce that KiKi Mariot will be the voice of Tesha going forward. Her voice will be heard in the next update!
There is no concrete release date for the next update yet but it will be out by May or June if all goes to plan.
