Devlog: New Unlockable Dungeons!

This week we have working on one of the game's progression systems: unlocking new dungeons! You will be able to play 9 different dungeons in the final game. Every time you win a run, you will unlock the next Dungeon. The first dungeon will be the one available on the demo, remember that you can play it now!

Each new dungeon will add new rules to the games (added to the previous ones!) so the game will be more complex and interesting each time you win a run.

For example, we have this dungeon that adds padlock cards, key cards, and a new resource, keys. From now on, in order to move to a padlock card you will need to use a key. In this way we add one more resource that the player has to manage, and the fact that he has to make tactical decisions about spending the keys since the padlocks will condition the best routes to follow.



Another of the new dungeons will add bosses. Every ten levels, you will have to face a boss from the biome you are in at that moment. Our objective with the design has been to try to make a small puzzle with each one. For example, for the boss of the Volcano biome, the more points you have in the Burned altered status, the less damage the boss will do to you, so you will have to decide to what extent it pays you to pick up traps that increase that negative status so in exchange to receive less damage.



Remember that you can play the demo right now (but only the first Dungeon!).

Devlog: New Characters!

This week we have been adding and testing new characters. Our objective is that the starting abilities and artifacts for each character feel different enough to change the way you approach each run.

In addition to the characters we already had in the demo, we have added:

Shaman. Her main characteristic is that she is immune to poison, and her artifacts and abilities reinforce this. The idea is that she is a character that tries to go to the Forest Biome where she can get more artifacts that have synergy with being poisoned.


Dwarf Engineer. This character will have skills and artifacts related to the use of money. The main goal is that the player has to make the decision of when and how to spend money on their skills and artifacts, in addition to the usual use of buying artifacts.


Black Wizard. This character will add a randomness factor to the gameplay. For example, his starting ability has a 50% chance of dealing damage to enemies and 50% of chance of healing them. His artifact adds a card that when picked up deals damage to the player or all enemies. So with this, you have to take chance into account and use it in your favor!


In addition to this, for the final game all characters will have 3 artifacts and 2 abilities to choose from at the beginning, so you will be able to customize each run!
