Hello survivors!

I hope everyone had wonderful holidays and a great new year!

The latest update features the new sleep system. Players may now interact with a bed in order to sleep the night away, assuming nothing decides to interfere, of course. I have also worked a lot on further optimizing enemy AI and spawning systems!

Bug Fixes and Changes: 12/20/22

Hey survivors!

Sorry it's been a minute since the last patch update, I came down with a pretty nasty illness. Feeling a bit better now, so we're back to working on updates!

Bug Fixes and Changes:

  • Fixed an issue where you couldn't place items/use HandyPal when standing in a doorway
  • Hunger and thirst tick are slightly reduced
  • Handheld torches are a bit brighter
  • Standing torches are now able to fully offer 'comfort' zones when in their vicinity.

  • Fix for buckets/tools sometimes not loading in
  • Fix for stalker eye still being used even if health full
  • Fix for headlamp visibility when in first person mode
  • Raft should be less stubborn and easier to use
  • Credits added to start screen
  • Headlamp can now be recharged with a charge
  • There were light artifacts with the headlamp, fixed
  • Door fixed (cannot pickup after placing anymore)
  • Stalker eyes now add 15 health, was 10

Bug Fixes and Changes 12/9/22

Bug Fixes and Changes:



  • A typo in the loading screen was fixed.
  • Escape key will now cancel placement if in it, abort HandyPal if it's open, or if none of these are active, will enter settings menu.
  • Torch was not affecting sanity properly, should be fixed.
  • When dying from starvation or thirst, the player will respawn with a bit of hunger/thirst filled.
  • The monsters in the red crystal cave were too noisy. We told them to quiet down.
  • Toggling subtitles is now more clear (was simply 'toggle subtitles', now it's 'Turn Subtitles On' if they're off and 'Off' if they're on).
  • Added screenshot mode, this can be toggled with F1 key.
  • User settings are now saved for each individual game file.
  • There was an issue with spikenuts not always respawning, this should be fixed.
  • Overlap retriggers are fixed.
  • There was an issue with thirst not causing damage when depleted, this is fixed.

Bug Fixes and Changes:


<*> No longer need to hold left-click to use your tool. You can simply click once, and rick-click to interrupt the action if needed.
<*> Forge can be turned on regardless if there is something to smelt in it. The forge is NOT enough light to combat insanity, please keep this in mind.
<*> Insanity no longer affects controls. Instead, it begins with whispers, followed by visual hallucinations, and eventually taking damage over time.
<*> Placing a tap on a large mushroom tree (the viney guys) is a bit easier now.
<*> Death now gives a five second window of invulnerability when respawning. Use it wisely!
<*> Opening the HandyPal or interacting with a workstation will automatically cancel placement mode.

<*> New torch animations! These should not only look better, but also make it much easier to run around with your torch!

Bug Fixes and Changes 12/6/2022

Hello survivors!

Some of the recent changes have been made as a result of feedback. Your feedback is so important, especially given the Early Access state of R'lyeh and how new it is! The more you offer, the more changes and refinement we can make.

Bug Fixes and Changes:




  • Tips and lore now show on the loading screens at random.
  • Reduced performance cost of fire effects.
  • Axe and pickaxe were a little crooked during chopping animations and that has been fixed.
  • Numerous more settings have been added to the settings menu.
  • Added tooltips to ingredients active in Workbench (on hover).
  • Creating a staple clip also unlocks the blueprint for the Staple Gun.
  • Certain AI behavior has certain changes during red suns.
  • Discarded items sometimes floated when loading the game, this should be fixed.

Quick Fix Patch 12/4/22

This is just a quick path for the campfire particles. There's been some issue with lagging so I've optimized the fire more and have reduced the particle draw count quite a bit. This should help with potential lag problems.

Hello survivors!

I know I said I plan to release updated once per week, but I've been super busy refining things and fixes little issues, and felt this was worth putting out now. I promise these will start moving to once per week as soon as possible!

Bug Fixes and Changes:



  • Settings menu will now pause the game when pulled up.
  • Crate is now rooted when placed so it can no longer be knocked around.
  • Fixed an issue with some of the scalestone and ichorite ore not respawning.
  • Item overlap prompts are now smoother.
  • Ghost jellies no longer spawn inside structures.
  • Chitin armor can now be made at the workbench (was the advanced Workstation).

Hello survivors!

A few changes have been made, mostly with a focus on refining the game now. There's been a couple of small bugs that are fixed as well. At this point, the goal is to continue to refine R'lyeh and especially listen to player feedback and make changes to give the best experience possible. <3

Bug Fixes and Changes:



  • Fixed an issue with produced forge item not being visible when loading in the game if it's finished smelting.
  • A lot more work on the day/night cycle. Working on implementing customization so player can set length of day.
  • Player-made lighting such as sconces and standing torch have been refined and further optimized.
  • Red sun scaling had an issue that's been fixed.
  • Fixed an issue where dropped raw meat wasn't rotting.
  • When attacking a Wamp, it is now more obvious when they're hit, playing both an animation and clear audio.
  • Strange Meat is now more visually obvious when cooked.
