Update 1.1.1.0 Drums, bug fixes, and user suggestions!
Drums are now available!
For a while now only the guitar has been available for the rhythm gameplay, this is no longer the case. The drums are now available in all difficulties and tempos. It has taken a lot of time to complete due to the number of pattern files required (510 to be exact).
User suggestions and further development
We are still completely open to new suggestions and are still working day and night on the game. This is a game we know needs some touching-up and you can expect us to continue working on the game for quite some time. We just want to clarify for our customers/future users that we don't see the game as finished but it is (in our opinion) well beyond Early Access. There is lots of content already and even more on the way.
This game has been a giant project for us and so we don't plan to turn our backs on it until we've completed it. Coming from a cynical point of view you may think we are just trying to show fake dedication but even from a business stand point, it wouldn't make sense for us to leave the game in its current state after all that we have put into it already. Imagine a classic game like Roller Coaster Tycoon with half the content it currently has. A game like that wouldn't sell for 18 years past its original release. We want a game that lasts for the long run, and beats out any attempted clones.

Rock God Tycoon is 30% off right now! Minor updates 1.1.0.3
The big surprise!
A few days ago we posted about a big surprise we had planned. This is that surprise. Rock God Tycoon has never been cheaper!
Right now you can get it for 30% off of the full price. Along with that we have recently added Steam Workshop support so even more bang for your buck.
The sale will last the rest of the week so you have plenty of time if you are on the fence about it but we do hope you join us and the awesome community that has helped create this game.
Minor updates
Normally I'd post a changelog but it really isn't needed for the changes made. Just bug fixes for recent updates. If you really want to check it out, you can take a look on our Development Roadmap (link below).
Update 1.1.0.1 Hotfix and easier song access (1.1.0.2 hotfix)
A small update
This update is meant to quickly improve upon the previous build (1.1.0.0) which added workshop support. Within just a few hours we realized that the Song Creation tool was very hard to access and it didn't make sense to write a new song just to edit an old one.
Changelog 1.1.0.1
Allow players to instantly access Song Creation by pressing F2
Mispelled "Venues" as "Vanues" in the tooltip for sorting on the billboard
Workshop won't allow for you to upload empty tracks anymore
Require uploaded songs to have a title
Changelog 1.1.0.2
Game sometimes crashed when pressing F2 to access song writing after some gameplay
Game occasionally crashes when selecting songs from the workshop
Gigs were not calculating the amount of people in the audience correctly
Obviously this patch doesn't change much but it was important to make the Song Creation more accessible as soon as possible now that the Steam Workshop is available.
Update 1.1.0.0 Steam Workshop, Improved Song Creation
Steam Workshop!
It is here at last! You can download and upload your tracks from the Song Creation tool. We decided that instead of generating songs, it would be better to download handmade tracks from other users.
Once you open the workshop you should see this menu... (unless you're offline)
Uploading a song is easy! All you have to do is press upload and then you'll be taken to this menu. Once there all you need to do is fill out the required information and then, press Upload!
We have really worked hard to make the whole process smooth and easy to understand. We hope that everyone enjoys this new feature!
Imrpoved Song Creation
The Song Creation tool has always been a bit clunky and for good reason. Creating an entire game and then a whole tool on the side isn't easy.
Now tracks can be paused and played from any position (thanks to some math related changes). You can also overlap tracks without getting audio overlaps.

Changelog 1.1.0.0
Features

Lowered band member desired salary from 15% to 8% of months revenue
Minor changes
Song Creation, stop and play causes overlapping audio
Song Creation, patterns allowed to play from parts other than the beginning
Bug fixes
Tooltip for venue sorting button on billboard shows "Band Rating" instead of "Venues Played"
Thanks!
Everyone in the community has been very helpful and we want to thank you for that! We never thought that we would have such an awesome community to help us flesh out our dream game.
In our previous update post we talked about our current progress towards Steam Workshop support. Just to make sure you believe us, we present to you...
[img=http://i.imgur.com/qwLmqU3.png
The titles and descriptions are obviously just for testing but worry not, in only a short time you can expect these lovely changes to be available.
Some great perks of the workshop system are as follows:
Song files are small, like 64kb if it is a full length track
You can instantly drop in a track from the workshop (no loading required)
Uploading a track is fast and easy
Workshop files will remain compatible until the end of time
Subscribing to 10,000 workshop tracks won't slow your game down
What is the surprise?
We will be doing something else very special around the time that Steam Workshop support is made available. All we can say is...
Update 1.0.0.4 Checkpoints, bandmate raises, and polish!
We are starting to get back into the flow of things and regaining momentum. You can expect awesome changes very soon. Meanwhile, enjoy this rock'n update.
XP Bars (user request)
You can now see just how far along your character is with whichever skill you are working on. The XP system uses a 1 to 100 point system for each level so you should be able to see those numbers a little easier now.
Band info menu Band management menu
Checkpoint System (user request)
We've heard a lot of people voices regarding the persistance of save files. We intended for the game to be this way but it is unusually cruel that when you lose, you lose everything forever. So to counter act our own design for the betterment of Rock God Tycoon society, we've added a checkpoint system.
Every 6 months the game will automatically backup your save file and so next time you get a game over, it will revert to that backed up save file. That way you don't lose everything.
Difficulty, where is it?
The first run you have in RGT generally results in a game over around month 3. The 2nd run, you excel and beat the game with ease. The end game feels like nothing is happening and that you may as well start over. We've noticed this and (thanks to all of you awesome people) have made some big changes.
Two major changes include: 1. Bandmates now request increases in salary. Their request is based on the income you've made that month. This means that salary scales with your income. It isn't too ridiculous so you can still get rich easily but maintaining a band is nowhere near as easy as it once was.
2. Less fans arrive at shows. Previously 25% to 50% of fans would arrive at shows. You could busk for a week and then make lots of mulla at gigs. Now it is 14% to 16% of fans that arrive at shows. This should make promotions more viable and progression less of a landslide to victory.
Changelog 1.0.0.4
Features
Half-year checkpoint backup system
Balancing
Bandmates occasionally request salary increases (15% of monthly income)
Reduced the number of fans that arrive at gigs, previously 25% to 50% of fans arrived, now it is 14% to 16%
Minor changes
Equip button locked in when already equipped (vehicle shop menu)
Props and vehicles can now be sold via the shop
XP bars in band info/band management for skills
Scroll menu focus gained via mouse hover
Random song name button for song writing
Bug fixes
Loans would give you $1,000 at the end of each month instead of deducting it
Steam Workshop support in development
We can now confirm that Steam Workshop support is in the works. We've already got song creation submissions working. We are now designing menus for it and you can likely expect it to be available in the next update. It will be replacing the Generate button in the Song Creation tool. Now you can just select a song you've subscribed to and instantly have all the patterns placed in Song Creation.
Drums, rhythm gameplay
I've nearly completed the drum files for the rhythm gameplay. I'm approximately 70% through them and so you can possibly expect that to be available in the next update as well.
It's been a crazy week and so you'll have to forgive us for this meh update. It fixes lots of bugs and some issues that have plagued the game since its EA release, so that bit is great.
Date system fixed
We never noticed how messed up the date system was, February had 30 days instead of 28! Jokes aside it was a minor issue that seemed to have bothered a lot of users and so it has been fixed.
Time freezing bug fixed
This issue has been around since the beginning but we were never able to reproduce the issue until recently. It wasn't hard to fix it actually, a single line of code. I've been pullng my hair out for months over this one and we are both glad it has been solved.
Changelog 1.0.0.3
Minor changes
Updated Philadelphia map file
Current location is displayed in main hub
Updated intro message to include pause info
Bug fixes
Time freezes if game is closed incorrectly (No more Ctrl+Alt+W)
February has too many days in the month (date system fixed)
Videoclips cause a crash when player is in a role other than guitarist
Character placement on prop placement isn't working properly and props have incorrect depth
Tooltip icon is misaligned on contract papers
Billboard user albums not sorted by highest
Where are the big updates?
As stated in our previous post, we are both very busy at the moment with life stuff. I just moved homes a few days ago and Panos is currently out of town, and without internet for a few days. We require each other to implement anything and so we are on a mini-break right now.
You can expect us to be back on our feet and running soon!
Update 1.0.0.2, New tutorials, instruments, and more!
Hey everyone! We have been working hard to bring you more content and to further stablize the game. Here's the run down!
New tutorial system
We have been listening to the community and it is widely accepted that the current tutorial system sucks. We removed it and setup a brand new system. Panos put a lot of work into the new tutorial so make sure to give him a shout out! It can be accessed via the pause menu ingame.
From there you can access this super helpful menu!
The ugly and hard to read text
We would like to apologize for the disgusting text that has plagued the game for the past month or so. The engine we use (Game Maker: Studio 2) is in beta and had an unfortunate text issue. The latest update they released fixed it and so the text should once again be readable, and properly aligned.
Changelog 1.0.0.2
New content
New tutorial system
Song Creation tutorial
4 new drumsets
4 new microphones
4 new minor events
Minor changes
Vehicles/Promotions are now sorted from lowest price to highest price
Reduced skill growth at higher levels to make higher skill growth more difficult
Bug fixes
Fixed difficult to read text and odd alignment (engine update)
Time freezes when events occur if the game was closed improperly
Gigs not adding to the right skills for the player
Instrument bonuses causing game to crash
Label contact form occasionally loads a background instead of the contract label image
Edit character menu backgrounds never unloaded, memory leak
Gigs not calculating show spectacle correctly
Band management shows the wrong number for song writing skill
Song Creation intros were accidentally disabled
Song Creation 'STOP' button now works as intended
More updates inbound!
We are still working on Rock God Tycoon as tirelessly as we were during its Early Access phase and plan to continue to do so for a while. The next update is likely going to be next week or the following week. I am in the process of moving homes and in early March Panos is going to be going out of town for a while.
We have made plans to continue development during this time but with the stress of all that on us, we don't want to make any promises just yet. What we can promise you is a surprise in March. Nothing too special of course but it'll sure be a something!
We are working hard and we realize that we haven't been very public about what our plans are. We don't expect everyone to read every single announcement we make. Alongside all that we have been discussing our lack of organization in the recent days since release (mostly due to the incredible amount of customer feedback).
So here it is... our public Trello page! It has a color label system so you can track when something is being worked on, planned, or delayed. This should make it easier to communicate with everyone who is interested in the development.
Keep being awesome and we'll be back soon with more updates!
Update 1.0.0.1, Instrument Bonuses!
This or more of a patch than an update as it doesn't add a ton of stuff to the game but we felt there is no reason to hold back on these changes.
Instrument Bonuses
When you go to edit your character or a bandmate, you'll notice that instruments now give you skill bonuses. This has been requested for a long time so we are happy to deliver on this promise at last.
Loan Offer
A lot of new players have told us about the difficulty they faced in the beginning of the game. We can't change too much without completely ruining the progression so we are going to give this new loan offer a try. Within a few days of starting a new game, you'll be offered a loan of $10,000. Let's us know how you think this has affected the gameplay.
Changelog 1.0.0.1
Story events will now continue forward with the purchase of any vehicle
Loan offer added to the beginning of the career
Instrument skill bonuses
Hotfixes since 1.0.0.0
Resolution related crashing fixed
Added missing pattern files that were causing crashes
Attribute pop ups were displaying the wrong skill icons (still needs to be fixed for bandmates?)
What's next?
We are currently working on a big tutorial update. It's going to let you decide what you want to learn and when through a sort of, Table Of Contents style layout. It will cover how to book shows, band solidity/tension, and anything else you might not yet know or want clarification on.
