We have been listening to every post and suggestion since release. Thanks to everyone who has spoken out, we have a priority-based list of changes we plan on making to the game.
Planned changes
Tutorial/Information for song creation and rhythm gameplay
Giving players the option of taking a loan early on in the game to avoid grinding (the less safe approach)
Giving instruments skill bonuses for characters
Steam workshop support for song creation instead of song generation
We are working on these changes as we speak and will keep you updated. Please don't hesitate to make yourself heard if you feel any of these changes would negatively affect the game.
There are plans for adding much more besides what's listed here but for now, this is our high priority to-do list.
Full release! Update 1.0.0.0
The big surprise
Today at 6am PST we launched into full release! Along with this changed state of release, we have brought an absolutely ridiculous amount of content. Without talking about everything we will breifly go over some of the major changes.
We want to thank everyone that has stayed involved with the early access and has helped us improve the game to reach the state it's in today. We couldn't have done it without the amazing support and feedback from everyone.
47 more cities and more assets coming soon
Hey guys, Panos here. I have been working really hard to complete the additional 47 cities that were missing from the game. I am confident that there will be no problems with the new cities but in case I am wrong feel free to contact us.
More content regarding instruments and props will be added soon, as well as new backgrounds for recording studios and video clip studios. If you have more awesome ideas for graphic assets you would love to see in the game feel free to let us know.
Gig reviews are working
This has been an issue with Rock God Tycoon since before early access and I just never got a chance to actually fix the issues. Now you'll see your band get 2's and 3's from reviews early on (not just 1's every time). You will also notice that reviews won't repeat themselves anymore.
A lot of content creators have made themselves heard regarding the lack of resolution options in the game. You can now make these changes within the video settings. The resolutions available will be based on your monitors aspect ratio. You can still manually resize the window of course.
Character perks
This is another feature that has been missing since day 1. There are now 5 perks and I recommend you read the change log to find out what each of them do. We will eventually make a guide/wiki or more ingame information for all of these small side features.
New achievements
Originally there were only 11 achievements but no game is complete on Steam without at least 20 (in my opinion at least). Panos created some lovely art for the new achievements and we hope you enjoy them.

What does this mean for the future of Rock God Tycoon?
We certainly are not done updating the game and you can absolutely expect more updates in the near future. There are still bits of the game that we want to polish and add to so please don't stop giving us feedback. Our transition to full release is more due to the amount of content/stability the game now has. We don't feel that the early access state of the game (on the Steam store page) properly conveys the amount of content/features.
We are excited to be taking this next huge step and hope that everyone that has been involved with the early access release agrees with our decision. Panos and I are going to take the next few days off to relax (because so many people have been telling us to do so).
Word of mouth
We could really use your help getting the word out about Rock God Tycoon. We are a two-man team and have no way to market this game outside of our own tiny communities. We would both love to see big youtubers playing the game and all that but in todays market, it is impossible to get yourself out there.
Thanks once again to everyone and keep rockin'. :RockSign:
The next update is going to blow your mind!
We have a huge surprise update planned and unlike our usual posts, we aren't going to tell you what to expect. The community has been amazing and we feel like you have given us an amazing opportunity to show you what we're made of.
Be prepared because soon you'll see a massive update. We are talking about an update the size of a rock stars ego. An update that will bring the amp from a ten on the volume dial to an eleven. Hold on to something because you will be blown away by the amount of bandwidth this update will require.
Keep rockin' :RockSign:
Update 0.5.7.3 Rhythm Gameplay!
I'm going to keep these patch notes brief. We have finally (mostly) finished the rhythm gameplay. You can actually play shows now. Currently there aren't many changes aside from that but we are working on adding more shortly.
The only instrument you can currently play is guitar but we are working on adding more soon!
Changelog 0.5.7.3
Bass 80 outro 12c has been fixed (filename error)
Contracts weren't counting gigs properly
Performances are now working correctly (it seems)
Performance options is now working, can select instrument/difficulty
All event types can be performed at now
Mouse cursor no longer remains invisible on the map menu if you click on buttons towards the top of the screen
Fixed a grammar error in one of the character descriptions
Band Info song list didn't display your latest track on the list (fixed it, finally)
We are working hard to finish up all of our promised content. Panos is pumping out cities while I grind away at the pattern files required for the rhythm gameplay.
Update 0.5.7.2 Engine update and more props!
New homes and new props
It has taken longer than expected but at last we present to you... Two new homes, and 12 new props! You'll have to check out the new props yourself in game under the Speakers tab in the prop shop. The new homes are unlocked through story progression which will happen naturally as you play the game. Make sure you don't slack off though because if you do, you might not be able to afford the rent!
Below is a picture of my band enjoying their new crib. Yes, my bands name is Ass.
Taking suggestions
We constantly go back to and read all of your suggestions. We ask that you post suggestions in the relevant section of the steam community hub. Commenting on someone elses thread is likely going to result in us missing it in the future. You have all been awesome so far and really have helped us improve this game. So once again, thank you to everybody who is a part of this community.
That annoying crash on exit
One of the main reasons I have spent today porting the game into the new engine is because of this crashing issue. I believe that this engine is a bit more stable than the one we've been using so we've crossed our fingers and are taking the dive. Of course we can't guarantee anything as we are tiny team and I (as the programmer) tend to do most of the playtesting so there is very little we can do to predict the future. However we got this far without too many horrible issues so you can probably trust us.
Changelog Version 0.5.7.2
Map date fixed
Fixed date system for all events
Made changes to the prop placement system that may lead to some odd depth issues but due to the nature of the sprites being used, this can not be changed
Removed empty pattern, Bass tempo 80, 2b (2)
Shop image system for props has been changed to allow for larger sized props
Rewrote prop shop to allow for more than 10 props to be displayed
Added new prop type "speakers"
Added 12 new props
Game over loan from parents allows for a one time recovery if your financial balance falls below $0
Recording studios now open under rehearsals by default instead of recording
Having a album released would cause the money gain sound to play at the end of each day

Two new story events
Two new homes
Switched to Game Maker: Studio 2

You do NOT have to start a new game to experiene these changes. Save files have been made compatible since the day of release. This will be continued for as long as possible.
Update 0.5.7.1 Polishing and fixes
An early update!
We managed to get this update out a bit earlier than Sunday. There isn't a ton of change in this update but there are some very important bug fixes. As always we are working hard to add as many quality of life features as possible. You will see one of these changes on the map.
Still working hard on the next big feature
Panos is still working on a few essential art assets for the new feature. I'd say he is about 75% of the way through them and likely will have some new content ready for next weeks update. There is still quite a bit of work left for him on that front but he is working hard as always.
I'm approximately 25% of the way through my side of the work for the new feature. We plan on pushing out an early version of it sooner than later. You can likely expect that early version of it in the next month. There are about 180 more files I have to create/edit before that it is anywhere near ready for the public.
Even after we finish all that there are a number of quality assurance steps we plan to take prior to pushing the new feature out to the public.
Thank you for being understanding and patient with us. We promise we are working our hardest to bring this game to a more complete state. If it wasn't already clear (and/or this is your first time reading a news update) we are only a two man team so as you can imagine we are only able to do so much in such little time.

Update 0.5.7.0, Bug fixes and preparing for another huge update!
I have been working on the next major feature update for Rock God Tycoon. The rhythm gameplay. We can't show very much of it just yet but we assure you it is going to be awesome. Whilst I do that work, Panos has been working on creating a couple new homes for the game. The apartment added some much needed change and a bigger sense of reward than anything else we've added so far. It feels like the right direction and so we have pursued it.
This update doesn't add much to the game but it does stablize it quite a bit. There are always going to be more bugs that I'm not aware of but you have all been great about reporting issues and I want to thank you for that.
When will the next update be?
There may be a two to three week period without any updates due to the workload of the next upcoming feature. At the moment I am estimating there is somewhere around 200 hours worth of work before the next major update is ready. Unfortunately it is not a task that can be easily split among our team of two so how quickly the required tasks get completed is hard to say.
We hope sooner than later and will keep everyone posted in the meantime.

Fixing yesterdays update, hot fixes!
This is just a short list of stuff I patched since yesterday. I recommend trying out the song writing now that it isn't a buggy mess. Also, a lot of people were experiencing gaps in the song creation player, this has been fixed.
Hotfix changelog
Song creation patterns getting stuck inside of each other has been fixed
Fixed possible crash due to scripts being called that don't exist
Character trait cache system broke if a band member quit or was fired
Spacebar now pauses time as requested by users
Modified song editor to use delta time for track speed, this will prevent gaps in the sound/music for people who run the game below 60 fps

Fixed variable name conflict that may have been causing random crashes
In song creation, tempo 180, guitar, the first riff pattern was referencing the wrong file and this led to a crash
Full band actions
At last, you can right click a character action to tell your entire band to perform the action. This works for cancelling actions, busking, refining skills, and song writing. Just a tiny feature update but it's a nice touch.
Thanks everyone
Everyone has been awesome and very quick to report issues. At this rate, the game will be entirely bug-free in a day! (Yeah right)
Update 0.5.6.9, Song creation, story events, and a new apartment!
Song writing is here!
It took us forever but at last we have delivered to you... song writing. It appears to be fully functional and bug-free but that's the point of early access. We need you awesome people to let us know if you have any issues/crashes with this latest update. I personally played for about an hour without a crash earlier today so I'm assuming there won't be a ton of issues.
You can access song writing by completing the Write a song character action. Upon completion you will be prompted to either write the song in the song editor or skip it. We plan to make song writing more accessible in future updates but this will have to do for now.
Seabass, balancing
We have seen loads of people point out how unbalanced the game is in its current state and we completely agree. This update fixes all of that and from my personal play testing, really improves on the whole experience. The difficult has been smoothed out just a bit and character actions have been tweaked.
You can no longer force your band to write songs constantly and live off of the sales. Songs you sell have been nerfed tremendously. This might make the game a bit more difficult but it really does force you to actually play the game and not just spam songs.
Travelling is now very different compared to prior versions. For example, travelling long distances in the used car will result in horrible amounts of tension gain. Buying higher tier vehicles will actually be of use to you now.
Let us know if you like the changes we've made so that we can keep improving the game.
Panos, quick update
Hello everyone,
Lots of cool stuff will be added soon to the game, including backdrops for the gig places you are going to perform in, drum sets, props and hopefully soon I will start working on performance animations while Seabass works on the rhythm part of the game. Thank you all for being patient and giving us great feedback, we appreciate it and want you to keep it up.

A new home? Story events?
At last we have started writing/planning out the story line for Rock God Tycoon. We would like to emphasize that the game is mainly a sandbox game but there is a gentle line of story events that will help you progress through the game. Along with the story comes a new home, cozy Apartment 0. What an original name! We plan to add more details to each home as the game is further developed.

The shop items explained at last!
Since the original release day of Rock God Tycoon items have always been a mystery because we overlooked showing details about the items within the shop. Thanks to some user requests that has been changed. You can now read details about items via tooltips. Hover your mouse over any item in the shop and it'll show you a short message explaining exactly what that item does.
Adding your songs to the user playlist
When you save your songs in the song creator, they'll be copied into a folder called Song Data that can be found in %localappdata%/rockgodtycoon. All you have to do is copy the songs you want from the Song Data folder into the Music Player folder. Next time you start the game or toggle on the User Only soundtrack option, you'll hear your own rockin' tracks.

Update 0.5.6.8, New events, bug fixes, and balancing!
An update, at last!
A lot of people have spoken up and discussed the lack of balance in certain areas of the game. We want to thank each of you for contributing to the development prcoess.
For those of you who have already played the game a fair bit, we recommend reading through the changelog below, travelling was broken up until now. It has been completely rebalanced and fixed to allow short travel without too much tension gain.
What about song writing?
We are still finalizing song writing. At this moment, we need a few more art assets and I need to clean up/polish some of the code. I think it is a fair estimate to say it should be in the next update, or the one following that one. At this moment, we are just trying to get back into the swing of things.
Changelog Version 0.5.6.8
New stuff
Klepto event system implemented
2 new klepto events
4 new minor events
Bug fixes, Optimizations
Fixed bug, character randomization wasn't calculating the price of clothing properly.
Fixed issue, clicking the pause menu buttons before the menu finished transitioning caused a crash
Fixed bug/design issue with hired band members, it has been disabled for hired bandmates but remains active for your character.
Fixed bug, Van now travels at intended speed
Fixed bug, clothing/instrument purchases are now cleared from memory when you quit a game
Fixed bug, travelling now uses vehicles travel speed in equation properly
Fixed bug, travelling without certain band members being hired would result in tension not being added to certain roles
Fixed possible crash when saved game gets corrupted (in some rare cases)
Cleaned up memory on exit in hopes of preventing game crash on exit (doesn't work but might help in future builds)
Balancing
Balance changes have been made to travelling, 5% is the minimum for tension gain (used to be 20%), the amount of tension gained from travel is higher in general though, this all not counting the vehicles travel speed into the equation
Travel times for vehicles have been modified, the "Car (Used)" is a lot slower now and all other vehicles will now be quite a bit faster
If you crash on exit, go to this folder location %localappdata%\CrashDumps and delete the files there. Each crash results in a 10mb dump file being generated which adds up fast. We are awaiting an engine update at the moment but we assume the next update will fix the crashing issue.
You do NOT have to start a new game to experiene these changes. Save files have been made compatible since the day of release. This will be continued for as long as possible.
