RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.013

Balance

  • Player character standard base health dropped from 100 to 80.
  • Brutal difficulty - XP multiplier reduced from 2.0x to 1.5x.
  • Brutal difficulty - instead of enemy damage 2.0x, it is now enemy health 1.5x and damage 1.5x.
  • Casual difficulty - XP multiplier increased from 0.5x to 0.75x
  • Casual difficulty - base health bonus is now 50 instead of 100.
  • Weapon - Vengeance - base fire rate reduced from 2.5 to 2.0.
  • Perk - Psi Mod - Dash Duration - now adds +8s to the cooldown in exchange for the +4s duration boost.
  • Improved relative difficulty of ranged vs. melee enemies:
    - Sentry Bot targeting range reduced from 9 to 6.
    - Sentry Bot HP reduced from 175 to 150.
    - Acid Ant targeting range reduced from 6 to 5.
    - Acid Ant HP reduced from 25 to 20.
    - Sand bug HP increased from 15 to 25.
    - Space Ducks - HP increased from 15 to 25 (exception, these ranged enemies were actually a little too weak).
    - Hellcrawler HP increased from 35 to 40.
    - Infected Guard shooting burst time reduced from 1s-2s random range to 0.5s-1.5s.
    - Infected Guard shooting delay increased from 3s-6s random range to 4s-6s.
    - Infected Guard move speed reduced from 3.0 to 2.5.
    - Infected Guard spawn rate reduced in Doomed/Escape.


Tweaks & Improvements

  • The first weapon found in Story mode near the start is now always a Ballista. This also serves to make the weapon progression slightly more linear in Story mode, so that you don't discover a new random weapon right at the start.
  • Slightly slowed down weapon progression in Story mode by reducing the number of random weapon crates in storage areas and secret areas.
  • Tweaked the secret area near the lava river so that you can actually see where you are Shifting to, instead of your path being hidden below a rock.
  • Moved the "Weapons" inventory item that shows total weapon capacity used, to the first slot in the inventory.
  • Changed the "Weapons" inventory item icon to show the Sidekick pistol instead of three tiny weapons.


Performance

  • Switched off a few excessive spotlights near the crash site (opposite side) to prevent frame rate drops.
  • Removed light sources from the loot orb, enemy health orb and enemy shield orb.


Fixes

  • Fixed Marksman Perk not showing Critical Hit probability boost in the character stats panel.
  • When loading a saved character that still have legacy oxygen refills in their inventory, those will no longer take up hidden space.

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.012

SHIELD/OXYGEN TOTAL OVERHAUL

  • The oxygen timer mechanic has been completely removed from the game.
  • Instead, the blue bar below health now represents your Shield.
  • When your Shield energy drops below 10%, your health is reduced when you take a hit.
  • Enemy Orbs now charge Health and Shield, instead of Health and Oxygen.
  • You can fully recharge your Shield by purchasing a Power Cell in the shop, or by finding it in a loot crate.
  • Max health has been reduced to take into account the protection from the Shield.
  • All oxygen-related Perks have been modified to no longer relate to oxygen. In some cases, Perks have been disabled.
  • Shield-related Perks are in the works, and will drop in the next release.
  • The Heal Psionic ability has been replaced by the Dome Psionic ability. This is similar to the previous Lv2 Heal that created an invulnerability dome around the character, but now works across Lv1 to Lv3, with no healing. This change was made to prevent standing around for extended periods of time using Heal until max health is reached.
  • All oxygen related loot and items have been removed from the game world, inventory and shop interface.
  • Character stats had to be reworked to remove oxygen related stats. Critical hit probability is now a stat. Oxygen depletion rate no longer exists. It now works as follows:
    - Combat - Increased aiming accuracy. Get more critical hits.
    - Endurance - Increased health. Stagger less when taking hits.
    - Agility - Move faster. Reload faster.
    - Psi - Access more powerful abilities with reduced cooldowns.


Balance

  • Due to Critical Hit probability now being a stat, the Critical Hit perk has been renamed to Marksman, and now gives a +1% Critical Hit probability per direct hit.
  • Added 1 spare life to Hard difficulty, with checkpoints (solo mode).
  • Doomed mode - dropped first wave total enemies from 12 to 6.
  • Doomed mode - dropped first wave simultaneous enemies from 4 to 3.
  • Doomed mode - dropped the spawn rate of the Acid Ants (ranged acid guys).
  • Reduced the engagement range of the Infected Guard enemies from 6m to 5m.


Fixes

  • Don't sell Nano-storage items in Doomed/Escape mode. There is no point, as there is no inventory management.

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.011

Changes

  • Solo difficulty level is now associated with your character. You select a Difficulty when creating your character. You no longer have to select the Difficulty each time you play. In co-op, your character can join a game of any difficulty level.


Content

  • 11 new Steam Achievements
  • 3 new Perks
    - Confidence - Deal +10% damage when you are at full health.
    - Rage - Do 2x damage when your health drops below 10%.
    - Valuable Orbs - Earn 1 Credit for every 10 Orbs collected from killed enemies.


Fixes

  • Infected Guards now trigger your proxy mines.
  • Increased fire damage via a Perk will now also apply to Infected Guard enemies.
  • Infected Guards now drop Orbs when killed.
  • Other small fixes.


Balance

  • Nano-storage Pocket and Nano-storage Box now give twice as much additional inventory space, but they cost a bit more.


Improvements

  • Some improved descriptions for items and perks.
  • Improved layout in a storage area where the navigation was a bit fiddly.
  • Other small improvements.


Development progress update

It's been a while since the last Early Access patch release. The reason for this is that I'm working to complete Story Chapter 3 in one big go. This chapter is set on the ice planet, so a lot of new world building was needed. I'm about 60% done with the ice world and the story chapter that goes along with it.

After this phase, I will return to regular small patch releases as before. This final stretch of regular releases will consist mainly of small content releases - adding more Perks, adding more Steam Achievements, and so on.

Soon after that, v1.0 and getting out of Early Access (finally!)

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.010

NEW

  • Graphics settings -> VSync option.


Improvements

  • Weapon numeric shortcut keys. Weapons already have fixed positions in the weapon wheel. Each position can now be accessed by pressing the matching shortcut key. This also works even if the weapon wheel is not shown.
  • Ammo icons are now shown for weapons in the shop, inventory and weapon wheel, to make it clearer what type of ammo is required by each weapon.
  • Current game mode, map/chapter and difficulty level is now shown in the Escape Menu. Previously only the current difficulty level was shown.
  • Character class name (with level) is now shown as a heading in the Character screen (Game menu -> Character tab).
  • "Credits" icon is shown next to item prices in the shop, to make it clear that the number shown is the price of the item.
  • Camera is slightly closer to in-game interactive terminal screens, which increases the visibility of the UI elements, such as shop item tiles and details.


Balance

  • Each capacity upgrade (from a Weapon Upgrade Kit) for the Scorcher now increases the total fuel capacity by +20 instead of +10.


Fixes

  • Fixed "24 FPS cinematics" option not working correctly.
  • Fixed exploit - prevent bypassing the Sidekick overheat cooldown timer by quickly swapping to another weapon and then back to the Sidekick.
  • Fixed an issue with loading inventory items, causing items to be removed from the inventory (Story mode saved inventory state).

Improvements

  • Many sound effects changed/upgraded for a more immersive experience. For example, different sound effects for collecting different types of loot.


Fixes

  • Fixed Stingray homing projectiles not working on roaming enemies outside of combat mode (Story Mode).
  • Prevent game pausing if the application loses focus while a multiplayer game start countdown is in progress.
  • Fixed "secret area discovered" message being triggered before entering the secret area (near junkyard).
  • Fixed co-op network error related to "Blast Mod - Auto" and "Daze Mod - Auto" perks.


Balance

  • Reduced spawn rate of sentry bots slightly. Too overwhelming when first reaching Wave 8 in Edge of Doom map, for example.
  • Increased Space Duck projectile damage from 7 to 10.

PLEASE NOTE! This update will delete any existing character you have and your character level and story progress will be lost. Apologies for the inconvenience. Occasionally during Early Access, it is necessary to upgrade the save-file data structure, causing your progress to be lost. We always try to keep this to a minimum.

NEW - MULTIPLE CHARACTERS!

You can now create multiple characters and level them up independently. Please note that story chapter progress is per character, per difficulty level. Any of your characters can be used in solo or co-op. You can have up to 6 simultaneous characters.

Balance

  • In Casual Difficulty, twice as much oxygen is now given from refills and enemy orbs.


Improvements

  • Tabbing away from the game during a solo session will now pause the gameplay.
  • New graphics option - Shadow Resolution - Low/Medium/High.
  • New graphics option - Fullscreen/Windowed modes.
  • New graphics option - Enable/disable volumetric lighting.
  • New graphics option - Enable/disable locking cinematics to 24-FPS with motion blur.

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.006

New

  • Each character class now has an additional selectable Helmet variant, applying a different Starter Perk to your character.


Balance

  • For all classes, the total distributed attribute points for a new character has been reduced from 16 to 12.
  • For all classes, the highest starting value of any particular attribute has been reduced from 7 to 5.
  • The overall aim deviation has been increased from 3 to 4 degrees when standing still, and from 6 to 8 degrees when moving (i.e. reduced overall weapon accuracy), but...
  • The Combat attribute now has a greater effect on reducing aim deviation. With max Combat 10, aim deviation is reduced by 80% instead of 60%.


Improvements

  • Scores are now no longer formatted with padded zeros. This looked odd with the new comma separators in the score formatting.

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.005

Balance

  • The starter Perk of the Guard class is now Critical Hit instead of Ammo Collector.


Improvements

  • Scores our now formatted with commas for better readability (for example: 1,111,111).
  • Adjusted the colliders of some obstacles so that enemies would not ignore them and walk into them.
  • Smoothed out the enemy movement a bit more while collision avoidance is in progress (less jitter).


Fixes

  • During the story mode intro cutscene, the portal effects were on prior to the portal actually being switched on.
