Rogue Shift

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.004

Score clean-up

  • Due to big balance changes over the past few months, as well as some fixes that can influence the outcome of maximum scores, the top scores above a certain threshold have been deleted from all scoreboards. Please note, that this type of scoreboard clean-up is likely to happen again several times during Early Access.

Balance

  • The automatic use of a Nano-Med from your inventory to prevent a death-blow, will now have a 50% reduced healing penalty. Without such a penalty, inventory management of Nano-meds is completely meaningless, as you never have to think about when to heal yourself.

New

  • Your character's Stats, Level and Perks are now shown on the character select screen.
  • Added a gameplay tip to the main menu (right-hand side) to explain the above auto-heal penalty.
  • Added a story mode tutorial message to explain the above auto-heal penalty.

Improvements

  • Sand Bug enemy now has an animated launch attack, instead of just moving foward with very little visible animation.
  • Launch attacks of enemies (sand bug and scorpion) are now more accurate and a bit less likely to fall short of their target.
  • Nearby shops are now shown in the HUD radar. If multiple shops are in the area, only the nearest one is shown.
  • Collision avoidance - enemies will now pack together a bit more tightly to increase horde density.
  • Collision avoidance - overlapping enemies will now attempt to move apart from one another slightly.
  • Collision avoidance - large enemies will now also avoid nearby enemies, removing the issue with multiple large enemies overlapping the same position.
  • Collision avoidance - enemies are now less likely to walk straight into obstacles.
  • Collision avoidance - some jittery enemy motion has been improved.
  • Changed the desktop icon so that it has a solid background. This makes the icon visible on bright backgrounds.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the same sound effect would not play more than once while the UI was open (weapon upgrades, for example).
  • Fixed an issue where enemies could cause multiple launch attack hits on the target during the same frame.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the total enemy kill requirements in Escape mode, Expansion Zone map, to go up exponentially and reach a crazy number by wave 4.
  • Fixed an issue where toppled barrels were not targeted correctly and your bullets went over them.
  • Enemy launch attacks (worm, scorpion) - fixed an issue where the enemy launched a crazy distance if the player Shifts away just before the launch.
  • Fixed label "Texture Resolution" in graphics settings.
  • Added the W.O.R.M. (boss) to the Enemy Codex.
  • Added more space to the Enemy Codex UI so that all enemies' info can be shown.
  • Moved barrels in zones 2 and 5 of Edge of Doom so that they don't overlap with loot locations.

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.003

Fixes

  • Offline functionality. You can now play the game without an internet connection. The online scoreboard and co-op functionality will be disabled, without game-breaking errors occurring as before.

Improvements

  • Mouse aiming - most weapons will no longer aim at the ground. Aiming at the ground in front of an enemy, will now target the enemy (just like when aiming on top of or behind the enemy). Aiming at the ground with no target in the line-of-sight, will aim 1m above the ground.
  • Mouse aiming - optional rocket launcher ground targeting. You can still shoot rockets at the ground by aiming in front of enemies, if the option is enabled in the Mouse Aim Settings under Input Settings.
  • Tweaked explosive barrel collider size so that bullets will not sometimes travel over the barrel when it looks like they should hit.
  • New graphics setting - texture resolution can now be set to Full or Half. Set to half to reduce GPU memory usage and potentially increase performance.

Balance

  • Reduced the flee probability of most enemies. It was too high, especially with the Fearmonger perk unlocked.

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.002

Another small update

- Fixed auto steering option for gamepad input mode.
- Added the ability to remap the movement keys (default WASD).

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2022.001

First little release of the new year!

This release fixes an issue where having a dot "." character in your Steam persona name causes the online services to malfunction, resulting in all sorts of broken behaviour in the game.

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2021.080

Improvements

  • Tweaked the enemy death hit marker audio clip.
  • Enemy death hit marker audio is only played if the local player is credited with the kill (not for co-op partners).

Fixes

  • Now showing character level and level-up button on Character screen in Doomed / Escape modes.

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2021.079

New optional death marker for enemies. A small animated hit icon and accompanying audio makes it a lot clearer when an enemy dies.

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2021.078

CHARACTER PROGRESSION OVERHAUL

  • Your character can now be used in all modes (Story, Doomed and Escape).
  • Your character will earn XP and level up in Doomed and Escape modes, just like Story mode.
  • No more character per Difficulty Level. Your character can be used across all Difficulty Levels.
  • Higher difficulty levels have higher XP multipliers. Casual = 0.5x, Hard = 1.0x and Brutal = 2.0x. This incentivizes playing higher difficulty levels.
  • XP related perks now available in Doomed / Escape.

Improvements

  • In solo mode, oxygen no longer depletes while you are at a shop terminal or interacting with an object.
  • HUD - spare lives count is now only shown in Casual Difficulty where you actually have spare lives.
  • HUD - spare lives count is now shown as additional lives excluding your current life.

Fixes

  • Auto Blast Perk was triggering auto daze. Auto Daze Perk now correctly triggers auto daze.
  • Fixed the description of some Perks where the value shown was divided by 10. For example "Heal an additional 1 points" instead of "10".
  • Fixed missing emissive glow on Engineer helmet.
  • Cooldown upgrade added back to Sidekick.
  • Fixed player health sync issue in co-op due to Difficulty Level not being in sync when Brutal or Casual difficulties are chosen.

Game-breaking issue fixed

Some time over the past 24 hours the game stopped working, but this went unnoticed until some players reported the issue.

This has now been fixed - it was an issue with the server side where the game communicates to read and
write highscores.

We will do some work in the near future to ensure the game runs fine even when offline or if the server side goes down.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Halloween Theme - Pumpkin Helmets that enemies will FEAR.

The ROGUE SHIFT Halloween event is now active, and will run all the way until November 5th.

During this event, when you create a new character in Story mode, you can select a special Pumpkin helmet to replace the default helmet of your character class.

The Pumpkin helmet will grant you the Fearmonger Perk right from the start, which causes enemies to be twice as likely to flee from your attacks!

RELEASE NOTES - v0.2021.076

PLEASE NOTE - This update will delete any existing Story Mode characters. With the ongoing development during Early Access, it is occasionally necessary to delete existing saved data, due to changes in the structure of the data.

Halloween Event
In Story mode, when you create your character, you can now select either the default helmet for your class, or change it to the limited-time Pumpkin helmet.

Class starter perks
In Story mode, each character class now has a starter Perk that is unlocked from the beginning. Selecting the Halloween Pumpkin helmet will change the starter perk to Fearmonger.

Fixes

  • Fixed enemy fleeing when hurt. For all enemies, the probably of fleeing was set to zero.
