HIGHLIGHTS:
☆ Updated Garbage Collection settings to remove constant hitching
What this means: Unreal Engine 4 makes a bunch of objects while you play. Eventually those objects are destroyed or no longer used, but they are still sitting around taking up memory. Garbage collection cleans them up by deleting them and freeing up the memory they took.
What you’ll notice: Constant hitching in the world is gone and frame rates have significantly improved. You may experience a small hitch when opening the inventory menu in Single Player, when closing any menus, on player death, and when loading a new chunk of the world.
☆ Reduced Odin skills visual effects based on community feedback.
☆ Fixed chat not working in the prologue.
Fixed rafts and boats not functioning correctly.
☆ Music and ambient audio now plays in menus
☆ Updated startup video.

An update on RUNE II: Decapitation Edition from Studio 369
Hello everyone.
Thank you for your support on RUNE II: Decapitation Edition! We want you to know that we are committed to supporting RUNE II: Decapitation Edition post-launch.
First, all of the performance issues are addressable. We have some hotfixes that we’re testing now and hope to patch soon.
Second, the Team is in place and working to address the latest bugs as you read this.
Third, we want to thank you for all the excellent support and feedback from you on our Discord (https://discord.gg/PlayRune) and Steam Forums - please keep it coming!
We are currently tracking and deploying fixes as soon as possible for the following top issues:
FPS drops and optimization.
Clients in multiplayer are losing their save game in the session browser, but are regaining their gear + level + skills after they go through the character creation process.
Players are getting themselves stuck when constructing buildings.
Players being able to damage their horde statues.
Trees are not damaging enemies and that feels unfair to players.
Tree fall damage AoE range feels too large.
We’ve been working around the clock since yesterday’s launch to respond with action. We will soon be putting out a hotfix update that will be the first step to addressing current player issues, and we will continue to work until these issues are resolved.
This is the first of many patches you can expect from us as we continue to monitor and respond to your feedback.
If you would like to, please consider giving your honest, constructive feedback on our Discord. (https://discord.gg/PlayRune)
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to make this right.

Main Narrative Overhaul: A new overarching story is introduced in the Decapitation Edition, with four main chapters that unwinds a tale of betrayal, rebirth, and revenge. Numerous side quests have been added to compliment the now linear direction.
Dungeons of Midgard: Deep within the depths of Midgard, an ancient evil has awoken. Inspired by classic RUNE levels, the dungeons will challenge the most hardened Viking warriors as they encounter a gauntlet of enemies, challenging platform sequences, and vile monster bosses. Rare loot awaits!
Skill Tree System: Bring the power of the Norse gods to aid your quest with unique abilities from the new skill tree system. Gain experience and unlock over 28 abilities centered around your chosen deity… or reject the gods to choose the heathen path!
Viking Village Life: Rebuild the land of Midgard by gathering resources to repair villages. Create longhouses, forges, and other buildings to restore the community as villagers return to rally behind your cause. Loki’s army will attack during Horde Events, so take up arms with villagers to defend to the last man, woman, and child!
Updated Co-Op Campaign: The new RUNE II: Decapitation Edition narrative is best experienced together with friends online and co-op multiplayer has been vastly improved. Ah, greetings, Viking. Gather round whilst I tell you of the mythical dragon armor that can be claimed by the most formidable warrior in RUNE II: Decapitation Edition.
Many moons ago, back when gods like Thor and Odin walked among men, there came whispers from a land that meets the Sky, of a large beast swooping among the clouds and snatching children from the ground. A brave warrior named Gunnar heard these stories and decided that he would travel there to slay the mighty beast. Many protested, saying that this dragon was too powerful for even the mighty Gunnar to slay, but he accepted no assistance. Now, the name Gunnar means “he who stands alone,” and he knew it to be his destiny to rid the land of this cursed monster.
While many different accounts of the great battle exist, one must be careful not to trust Elders with their dirty old Scrolls. What we do know is that at sundown on that first day, Gunnar disappeared through the smoke and haze into the dragon’s cave with his mighty sword, Skull Cleaver. For two days and two nights, the battle raged on inside that cave and on that final day, Gunnar emerged, covered in blood and worn, with the head of the dragon grasped firmly in his fist. He dropped to his knees and cried, “for Valhalla!” before succumbing to his mortal injuries. The corpse of the dragon was dragged out and returned to Midgard to honor all that this brave warrior sacrificed.
The dragon’s corpse was rid of his scales and forged in the fires deep within caverns of Hel's precipice, reinforced by dark and forbidden runic magic, and assembled by undead Draugr smiths from ages unknown. This Legendary Dragon Armor was made for worthy Vikings to wear in honor of Gunnar, the slayer of dragons.
