Combat Mastery Achievements

Listen up Project, War has a new task for you. Combat Mastery Achievements are here.

Have you wrecked and ruined your way through the bosses of Gielinor? Ready to flaunt your PvM power level? Combat Mastery Achievements are made for players just like you—gain recognition for your PvM prowess by completing new combat-focused tasks.

This exciting new achievement system will have you tackling challenges of all difficulties as you take on bosses from 24 years of PvM history. The Combat Achievements are split into 6 tiers: Easy, Medium, Hard, Elite, Master, and Grandmaster! The question is, where will you land?

Where to get started

To get started on this journey you just need to open up your Hero menu (F1) and go to the Achievement tab, here you will find a new section for Combat Mastery and can track your progress and plan out your next goals.

You can also head down to War's Retreat to speak with War about Combat Mastery.

How does it work?

Launching with this update is a whole slew of new Combat Achievements alongside several previous achievements being moved into this system. These Achievements are generally split into three main categories: Kill Speed, Kill Count and Mechanical achievements.
  • Kill Speed - Defeat a boss within a timeframe.
  • Kill Count - Defeat a boss a certain number of times
  • Mechanical - Defeat a boss in a specified way such as avoiding being hit by a specific boss mechanic.

Mechanical achievements may be split into two additional achievement subtypes. Unorthodox and Perfect.
  • Unorthodox - Complete the encounter in an 'unorthodox' way, such as not resolving mechanics
  • Perfect - Complete the encounter in a 'perfect' way, such as avoiding all avoidable boss mechanics

Kill times were calculated using boss completion data from the past year. We established breakpoints for each difficulty tier based on our target distribution of players across categories, further refining these with personal experience and insights from our internal team.

Kill count achievements will be retroactively applied to your account once the update goes live, but kill speed achievements will not be retroactive. Keep in mind that current kill times don’t account for the exact number of players in an instance—only that the total number of players was within or below the recommended limit for the encounter.

Each achievement will fall into one of the tiers, and you'll accumulate points based on the tier of the achievement you complete :

[th]Tier[/th] [th]# of tasks[/th] [th]Points per task[/th] [th]Points in tier[/th]

Easy 19 1 19

Medium 58 2 116

Hard 173 3 519

Elite 172 4 688

Master 92 5 460

Grandmaster 44 6 264

Total 558 2066

You don’t need to complete the achievements in any particular order—you’re free to tackle previous tiers or jump ahead to the next one. Chart your own path and progress through these achievements as you see fit!

As you reach key point thresholds (19 / 137 / 659 / 1351), you'll unlock "War's Blessing", a set of passive rewards that will help enhance your combat journey and further empower you as you push forward.

War's Blessing Tier 1:

  • Quick Access to the central Sarcophagus during the Barrows Encounter.
  • 5% increased chance of activating Reaper's Choice
  • 1 free attunement for War's boss portals per day
  • 5% increase to earned Marks of War

War's Blessing Tier 2:

  • No longer require kill count for all God Wars Dungeon encounters (excludes Nex)
  • Your kill count requirement for all God Wars Dungeon 2 encounters are reduced by 50%. This stacks additively with any reputation rewards from the Heart of Gielinor.
  • Your Sign of Life cooldown is reduced by 50%
  • 10% increased chance of activating Reaper's Choice
  • 2 free attunements for War's boss portals per day
  • 10% increase to earned Marks of War

War's Blessing Tier 3:

  • Ability to choose which rotation is active during the following encounters:
    • Barrows: Rise of the Six
    • Araxxor
  • War's Grimoire will now allow you to change your prayer book.
  • 25% increased chance of activating Reaper's Choice
  • 25% increase to earned Marks of War.
  • 500 increased hourly cap on Marks of War

War's Blessing Tier 4:

  • Ability to choose which rotation is active during the following encounters:
    • Vorago
  • Adrenaline gain from Adrenaline Crystals is increased to 100% per action.
  • A one time completion reward of 1 War's Ancient Armour Gizmo (Costless)
  • A one time completion reward of 1 War's Ancient Weapon Gizmo (Costless)
  • Guaranteed chance of activating Reaper's Choice
  • 50% increase to earned Marks of War.
  • 1000 increased hourly cap on Marks of War

These rewards are designed to improve your quality of life throughout your combat journey, helping to remove obstacles when chasing specific achievements. However, they are intentionally not meant to grant any direct power boosts. Completing prior achievement tiers should not be necessary to progress in the harder challenges ahead.

Unlocking Tier 3 and Tier 4 will grant you the ability to select specific boss rotations, which can be accessed via the "Beasts" menu in the "Adventures" Tab (F3).

This feature will assist you in tackling some of the more specialized achievements tied to these bosses!

Also Wars Grimoire? What is that?

New to War’s Retreat is War’s Grimoire, a handy tome that lets you swap between your unlocked spellbooks! Like many of the retreat’s amenities, the Grimoire is unlocked by defeating bosses—specifically after reaching 750 boss kills. Once unlocked, you can easily switch spellbooks, and upon reaching Tier 3 in War’s Blessing, you’ll also be able to change your unlocked prayers.

Additionally, one of War’s Clan Representatives has arrived at the retreat to take over some of War’s more mundane tasks. They’ll decant your flasks and blubbers and sell challenge gems on War’s behalf, freeing up War for more important matters!

Improving the War-drobe

One of our key design goals for Combat Mastery Achievements was to create visually striking rewards that players would be proud to show off. We aimed for something reminiscent of the Completionist capes, with their extensive checklist of requirements, but without overlapping in the same item slot. Instead, we focused on two slots that offered both flexibility and strong visual impact: the necklace and aura slots.

Players can earn six cosmetic necklaces (one per tier) and two cosmetic auras (Master and Grandmaster) by completing all achievements within a given tier. Unlike War’s Blessing, which is unlocked through point accumulation, these rewards are tied directly to completion of all the achievements in a tier.

Combat Mastery Auras

Those who reach the pinnacle of combat by completing the Master and Grandmaster achievements will be rewarded with unique auras, serving as a bold testament to their power and skill!

Wars Medallion

Wear the symbol of War with pride! Each completed tier unlocks a new color: Blue for Easy, Green for Medium, Red for Hard, and Purple for Elite.

And for those who conquer the Master and Grandmaster tiers, you'll unlock exclusive versions to match your powerful auras!

Chat Badges

Want to make a bold statement in your chats? With Combat Mastery Achievements, we're introducing two new chat badges—one for Master and another for Grandmaster.

You can activate these badges by speaking with War, and they won’t just appear in your chat log—they’ll also be visible in your examine, ensuring everyone can recognize your prowess!

What comes next?

Combat Mastery Achievements is an ever-evolving system that will grow as new bosses and challenges make their way to Gielinor.War isn’t quite done with you yet, Project!

Group Ironman Launch - This Week In RuneScape

Group Ironman is here!

Steel yourselves for self-sufficient 'Scaping, this time with a team of friends by your side! Now's your chance to build a powerful squad of Ironmen and compete for the top spot on the leaderboards. It's a new way to experience Gielinor!

Group Ironman launches today and is a fresh spin on the classic Ironman format. Players are self-sufficient, are unable to trade (mostly) and have a DIY attitude towards the game - but now, you'll be working as a team instead of going solo. Group members are able to freely trade tradeable items to each other and have access to Group Storage, a shared Bank which lets you pass around select items that were previously untradeable.

You'll be competing for new leaderboard positions in both Competitive and Regular Group Ironman modes. You'll also have the opportunity to earn unique rewards like the Group Ironman Armour, which improves as the group smashes through their Journey Achievements.

Want to know more? Check out the Group Ironman Dev Diary, or our recent blog!

If you need a little direction on how to get started, check out the panel below this one for a crash course.

Lastly, we'd like to say a big thank you to the entire Group Ironman team.

Their dedication, creativity, and collaboration have brought this long-awaited feature to life, and we are looking forward to seeing the whole community come together to experience it. The effort they've all put into this update cannot be understated, from the initial design stages all the way to launch.

This is a huge milestone, and none of it would have been possible without each of your contributions. Here's to even more exciting updates in the future!

Getting Started

To start Group Ironman, you'll need an account which hasn't progressed past character creation.

Step 1. Press "Select Game Mode"

Step 2. Choose "Group Ironman"
Step 3. Customise your character and press "Done" when you're ready to proceed.

Step 4. If you want to dive straight into Group Ironman and do not need a tutorial, select "I have played recently".

Congratulations! You are now a Group Ironman! Just need to get the group going now...

Grouping up

Once you're on the Iron Enclave, you can form your group. When you have control of your character, check out the "Create Group" tab - it should pop right up on your screen.

Here you will select either "Regular" or "Competitive" mode. Don't worry if you're not sure which one to pick yet - you can change between them while forming the group.

Your next challenge is settling on a name! It can be up to 20 characters, but bear in mind that you’ll be unable to pick the same name as an existing Clan, as they share the same name space.

Once you have a name and your group mates, you're ready to set out. Remember, your group must be between two and five players, and one of you will have to take on the mantle of leader. Don't fear if all your planned group mates aren't all available at this early stage - you'll be able to add players to your team by returning to the Iron Enclave, so there’s no need to hang around waiting.

Join the game and start climbing those HiScores!

If you are a current Ironman player, you can head to Lumbridge and use the portal to the Iron Enclave to access the island and start forming or joining a group. Please note that if you are an Iron and wish to become a Group Iron, you will not be able to reverse this decision.

The Iron Enclave

The Iron Enclave is a new island only available to Iron players. It’s where you’ll form teams and learn the core elements of Group Ironman!

You can speak with the Iron Tutor to learn more about the available Game Modes...

Check out the Ironman at Group Ironman achievements at the plaque...

... and when you're ready, you can take the Portal to Lumbridge from the northern point of the island.

Adventure awaits! If you want to know more about the Group Ironman experience, you can check out our recent wrap up blog or the Features and Gameplay video released last week!

Other Communities

  • Boss Guild hosts boss masses for some easy kc, potential loot, and pet rolls.
  • Deep Sea Fishing helps irons obtain a bunch of items that can be very useful to gloss over content or complete certain requirements much more quickly.
  • Fast Sc can help irons obtain their Fletcher's and Artisan's outfits.
  • Taskman can help newer irons achieve structured goals and not feel overwhelmed by the long chains of requirements they often face.

General

  • Updated names on boss entrances to public and private encounters, instead of uninstanced and instanced encounters.
  • Removed Master of Assault Achievement from Trimmed Completionist Cape requirements.
  • "Assault and Battery" and "Pirates of Penance" music tracks are now unlocked by entering the Barbarian Assault lobby.
  • The Trouble Brewing music track will now unlock when you enter the lobby.
  • The Stealing Creation music track will now unlock when you enter the lobby.
  • Player examine now links to the Clan information web page, if that player is in a Clan.
  • Fixed an issue which caused various necromancy ability animations to not function as expected.
  • Fixed an issue that blocked players from equipping the spooky keepsake items.
  • The Mazcab raid puzzle section has been altered so it can be completed by less than 4 people. Now you only need 4 or the number of players in the group, whichever is lower, to be standing on the puzzle pieces.
    • For example a group of 2 players will only need two correct puzzle tiles to be stood on.
    • The time allowed to complete this puzzle has also been increased from 12.6 seconds to 15 seconds.

Ironman Changes

  • The following content is now available for Ironman and regular Group Ironman players - it is still blocked for Competitive Ironman groups:
    • Blast Furnace
    • Demon Flash Mobs (drops available for Competitive Ironman groups if they do 100% of the kill)
    • Sinkholes
    • Trouble Brewing
  • All Ironman accounts should now be able to correctly spend Zeal in the reward shop to purchase XP and charms.

We are delighted to announce that we have raised a grand total of $70,000 with our Froggly Fundraiser event which wrapped up on Monday. Over $27,000 of it was raised via player's RuneCoin donations and the entire sum will be split evenly among our wonderful charity Partners Blueprint for All, Safe in Our World and Special Effect.

It was inspiring to see how well this amphibious initiative was received by the community!

To ensure players have an optimal gaming experience, we will be discontinuing support for 32-bit Android devices in the first quarter of 2025. This decision allows us to focus exclusively on optimising the game for 64-bit Android systems moving forward.

By shifting our attention to 64-bit devices, we can unlock improved performance, increased efficiency, and an overall smoother experience for players. While this change may impact some users, it is an essential step toward future-proofing the game and ensuring we can continue delivering updates and enhancements.

Post Game Jam and Merch Update - This Week In RuneScape

We've got just some of the fruits of last week's Game Jam to show you, plus exciting merchandise updates and more!

It's back! Game Jam is a reoccurring event where the JMods take one whole week to explore personal projects, community suggestions, and other exciting ideas. We've seen loads of awesome projects on the go this week, so here's a preview of just a few of them...

Mod Dorn

Visualizing Seeds and Herbs - Mod Dorn is keen to help player visualize and differentiate items, and has taken a stab at diversifying the looks of seeds and herbs. Giving them more diverse colourings should players tell the difference at a glance!

Mod Pebble

What's the deal with Yanille? Mod Pebble has been learning more about our internal mapping tools and set the task of improving the tone/vibe of Yanille. They've even been getting player feedback on how players would like to see the town look!

Mod Sponge

Spongeatouille - Mod Sponge has taken a moment away from combat to look into the next greatest battle: cooking. Between gathering player feedback on what they would wanna see from the culinary skill.

Mod Fowl

Inclusivity fixes for Titles - Inclusivity is an incredibly important topic and Mod Fowl is picking up the torch from Mod Raven and working to update a ton of titles and the underlying systems to let players have more choices and options on how they wanna present themselves!

Mod Fox

Furniture Shark - Building off some of Mod Fowl's previous Game Jam work, Mod Fox has gone and created this beautiful concept art for a very Legally Distinct Furniture Shark...

Mod Chaose, Frosch, Kitsune, Fox and Blkwitch

Daemonheim Archaeology - Continuing their intrepid work on Daemonheim Arch Site, the team has been making stellar progress including developing mysteries, designing a relic reward, inputting achievements , touching up some of the base camps snow and lighting and even building out a new map concept!

Mod Helen

Organizing the War Retreat boss portals - Tired of trying to figure out where the boss you wanna face is in the chronological order? Well Mod Helen has heard your prayers and has created a new system to organize the boss list in either chronological or alphabetical order!

Mod Luma

Shooting Star Update - Mod Luma is getting cosmic and has dove into modernizing the Shooting Star D&D, aiming to keep the core event identity in place but improving the systems!

Such as making it more reasonable to solo without impacting groups, new locations it can appear, improving the xp & bonus xp gains and making them more convenient to use along side creating a shop for Stardust and new achievements to go with it!

Mod Stu & Grace

Combat Level Up Jingles - Miss the old level of jingles? Well not anymore! Mod Stu has done extensive research into the previously used combat jingles and Mod Grace has graciously (heh) modernized the older midi jingles so they can make a triumphant return!

RuneScape Kingdoms Board Game – last chance for exclusive bundles!

Backers of the RuneScape Kingdoms Kickstarter have started receiving their pledges over the past few weeks, and we’ve been so excited to see pictures of their hauls! Check out the goods:

If you missed out on the Steamforged Games Kickstarter back in 2022 and want to go all in – now's your chance! The Deluxe Edition Bundle and the Expansions Bundle are exclusively available on Steamforged’s online store right now.

While not quite the early bird deal snapped up by Kickstarter backers, these are now the best value for getting your hands on an all-in pledge for the core game and expansions, and will only be available until next week! Once the core game and KBD expansion release for retail February 29th, all the other expansions and core game will only be available individually.

If the Steamforged store doesn’t ship to you, you want to avoid shipping costs, or only want the core game, these are coming to retailers globally on February 29th.

That's all for now, but we'll have more to share next week on the retail release for the board game and separate TTRPG – including videos of your favourite JMods getting hands-on with both!

Fally Goodies from Angels Scapes

Relive your travels through Falador over the years with this range of pins and keyrings by Angels Scapes, exclusively available on the official merch store.

  • The Rising Sun Bottle Opener celebrates Falador's most popular pub.
  • Dwarven Stout has been added to the beer opener fridge magnet range, so you always have the right equipment to hand to crack open your favourite tipple.
  • The limited edition White Knight Pin will always fight for you!
  • Holy (giant) moley, there's even a Giant Mole Pin, with two mini baby moles escaped from beneath Falador park!
  • There's also a limited edition Dragonfire Shield pin!

Had a little (or long) break from RuneScape and looking to get back into the swing of things? We're introducing a limited time offer for past Members to return, with 14 days of Membership and Double XP time for just $1!

If you've not been a RuneScape Member for a while, you'll be able to access this offer from February 27th to March 27th. If you're interested, return to this page on February 27th for a link to the offer.

New $1 Returning Member Offer
  • 14 Days of Membership.
  • 24 Hours of Double XP (to use within 30 days of purchase).

Eligibility
  • Available February 27th to March 27th.
  • Character must have been a Member in the past.
  • Character must not have had an active Membership for 30 days.
  • Character must not have been active RuneScape in the last 30 days
  • Character must not have completed the Old School RuneScape tutorial.*

Note: Due to the eligibility terms, cancelling your subscription will not gain you access to this offer. This is an offer intended to attract past Members back to RuneScape.

Many of you reading this are likely to be seasoned veterans of RuneScape, so we feel it's important we give you more details behind this offer and what we want to achieve.

We have a wealth of past RuneScape Members (with plenty of goals still to chase!) who we would love to see rejoin the world of Gielinor. With so many games out there today, we want to trial some offers to encourage them back - similar to how other games might run Free Weekends, for example. In our case, we're picking a route that best protects the health of the game with a payment gate, while also getting people back into RuneScape's best version with Membership.

We've designed this offer to provide a great low-price reason to come back, but also to encourage these ex-adventurers to get back into the swing of things properly - and that's where the Double XP comes in. Coming back to RuneScape and finding your groove can be difficult, so by offering 24 hours of Double XP, we hope to make those early hours a little more rewarding and get players re-invested in chasing their dream levels over the long term.

That said, it's deeply important to us that we take existing players into account when making this offer – we don't want any Members benefitting from 'additional' Double XP time beyond what's available today. We've intentionally designed this so that no eligible returning Member for this offer will have participated in our most recent Double XP. This means we're offering some missed Double XP time as part of the incentive to return, but not giving additional Double XP time compared to existing Members.

If you've been looking for a way to get your friends back into RuneScape, we hope this offer will be a nice surprise in their inbox – and hopefully get them back in your party!

*Both RuneScape titles share Membership and we love seeing players use that benefit to play both games! However, as this is a promotional idea to attract past RuneScape Members back to RuneScape, we needed to include this restriction to ensure the offer is RuneScape specific as intended.

We have scheduled essential planned maintenance for all RuneScape and Old School game worlds on Tuesday February 27th at 09:00-12:00* (UTC) / 01:00-04:00* (PST) / 19:00-22:00* (AEST).

During this period, all game worlds will be temporarily unavailable for up to 3 hours. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this downtime and will keep players informed of any changes to this estimated schedule.

*approximated end of downtime.

However, we’ve left this section in this newspost to avoid any confusion.

Community Hitlist & Necromancy Embargo - This Week In RuneScape

Hitlist is back and filled with Quality of Life updates, we are also lifting the Necromancy embargo!

Hitlist is back! Last month we asked you to submit your suggestions for the next round of Community Hitlist changes. We are still currently going through the bounteous feedback, so to tide you over, today’s update includes a few things that weren’t ready for the end of last year – but are ready now!

This time around the team have been smoothing out Fire Spirits, making improvements to the Player Owned Farm, giving various animals graphical updates, adjusting the Herb and Gem bags to work with noted items, enabling players to move the central information box from the middle of the screen, tweaking deathtouched darts to work on a few more bosses and making improvements to the fletching bench in the Fort's workroom.

Phew! And that's not all of it, either.... Check out the patch notes below for the full list of changes!

Our combat beta has been in full swing since November and we are pushing a new beta patch out starting on Thursday January 25th!

We're polishing changes that will be making their way into the live game in the near future but we need your help: We want you to jump in and do battle with your favourite foes. It doesn't matter if you are a slayer master who speedruns tasks with your melee build or you're a budding mage who has been finding their feet, whoever you are we want to hear from you about these changes.

Dive into the beta on Thursday and try out your usual combat scenarios and let us hear from you on how they play and feel with these changes under your belt!

We will have more details on how you can share your experiences with the beta on Thursday January 25th as we will make a post when it launches!

Since Necromancy's cold embrace enraptured the world of Gielinor, we've seen so many of you master a brand-new Combat Style and we've been delighted to follow your journeys to become the most powerful Necromancers around.

From today, we're lifting the embargo on Necromancy to help those of you looking to give an extra nudge to your progression to be combat-ready.

Players will be able to use experience granting items (such as Lamps and Stars) with Necromancy, along with all other experience granting systems that are available to all other skills!

We absolutely loved partnering with Makeship last year to bring you adorable RuneScape plushies – so much that we’re following up with a new, Dragon-themed menagerie ready for the new lunar year!

You can pre-order these draconic (and iconic) plushies right now to add to your ever-growing collection. Check out our store page at the Makeship website here: https://www.makeship.com/shop/creator/runescape

Starts January 23th | Ends January 24th | Genie's Wishes

Be careful what you wish for... you might just get it! Find Karima in your chest to make your wish come true – or enhance your next wish for even greater rewards!

Starts January 25th | Ends January 29th | Soul Showdown

It's time for a showdown between good and evil! Necromancers from both sides will be duking it out on behalf of Death and Rasial.

Spend keys to attack the Necromancers and earn Sigils based on which you defeat. They can then be exchanged for their unique outfits and weapons! Occasionally a defeated Necromancer will be replaced by either Death or Rasial, and you get two Sigils for defeating these mightiest of foes!

Collecting a whole set will reward you with a themed Conjure override – either the Ghul Guardian Zombie or Soul Reaver Skeleton Warrior!

Update to Oddment Generation

With today's update we are making some alterations to Oddments generated via Keys and Treasure Hunter reward conversions.

  • Increased Oddment Key Daily Purchase Limit from 10 to 15
  • Base Oddments awarded per key reduced per rarity
  • Convert Oddments' volumes are no longer affected by reward multipliers

Community Hitlist

  • Herb and Gem Bags will now store noted items.
  • The information box that appears above the player to display feedback can now be moved using Edit Mode.
  • When a monster dies, its options are now hidden during the death animation, so you can more easily pick up the items the monster has dropped.
  • You can now disable dragging of items in your backpack, using the new padlock button at the bottom.
  • Hovering over the Invention button on the backpack, and the charge pack in your toolbelt, now displays your remaining charge time and drain rate.
  • The health of Runes in Zamorak’s solo phase 7 has been halved.
    • Dev Note: this is to reduce the difficulty between solo and group play; the mechanic was meant to be memory-based and missable if not enough attention was paid, so we elected for halving the health rather than reducing the Rune count further.
  • Added a wiki button to the top-right corner of the quest overview/journal interface. Clicking it opens the quick guide for the selected quest.
  • Player Owned Farm name and trait re-rollers can no longer re-roll the current trait/name in the selected slot, and will reopen the roll menu if the player hasn't run out of rerollers.
  • Completing the Breeding Log for a category of animal now passively grants the tier 1 perk for this animal.
    • For example, if you have completed the You Had a Zygomite achievement to breed the five types of zygomite, you are now granted the tier 1 Zygomite perk Uncapped Potential, without needing a Zygomite in one of your pens. You still require an animal in a pen to get its tier 2 perk.
  • Normalised produce and seed amounts required for farming requests based on produce and seed type, removed some outlying annoying crops/seeds it could require (e.g. Bloodweed Seed, Goutweed, Goutweed Tuber).
  • Reduced possible animal types from small and medium farming requests, increased allowed breeds from medium and hard farming requests, and removed the need for specific traits on hard requested animals.
  • Making planks via NPCs and the Elite Skilling outfit is now more streamlined.
  • All types of Fire Spirits will now send rewards directly to the Bank, or to the Inventory if the Bank is full – otherwise the rewards will drop to the floor.
    • Messaging is now output to say exactly what rewards the Fire Spirit has given.
    • Messaging is now output when a Fire Spirit despawns without collecting its reward.
    • A buff is now added to the buff bar when adding logs to a bonfire, if you have any bonus XP from a Fire Spirit.
  • Added a 15 second reminder that incense sticks will run out, in line with potion effects.
  • The following bosses are no longer immune to Deathtouched Darts: Commander Zilyana (hardmode), Araxxor in duo mode, Seiryu the Azure Serpent. Note that darting Seiryu only skips phases where you can damage Seiryu.
    • You will need to destroy the crystals on Seiryu's back (which are dartable) to complete the final phase and get your reward drop.
  • Black Unicorns have been graphically updated.
    • The Unicorn Stallion familiar has been graphically updated to match White Unicorn, using special attack for healing animation, and retaining the current chathead.
    • Unicorns now use melee instead of magic attacks to better suit their animations.
    • Black/white foals have been graphically updated, with slight adjustments to their examine.
  • Black bears and grizzly bears, including their cubs, have been graphically updated.
  • Updated Chuck the Polar Bear in the Ardougne Zoo to use the newer polar bear model.
    • Updated arctic bear familiar and in the Three's Company saga to use the newer polar bear model.
  • Turael, Spria and Jacquelyn's novice Slayer Master outfits have been graphically updated.
  • Updated Vannaka the Slayer Master, body and chathead, including his appearance in Beneath Cursed Tides, Tutorial Island, and the NPC Contact spell.
    • By popular request, we’ve added a copy of Vannaka to his temporary encampment in south-west Edgeville Dungeon, and updated the Note from Vannaka accordingly.
    • Repositioned a god ray in the Varrock Sewers under the ladder leading to its manhole exit.
  • The Magic Store owner that sells runes in the Yanille Mage's Guild no longer wanders and has trimmed robes to more easily distinguish him.
    • We've also graphically updated the attackable wizards wandering around him.
  • Updated the Angry Unicorn, Bear and Giant Rat in Tolna's Rift to use newer models.
  • Added a column for Necronium salvage to the Spring Cleaner interface.
  • Increased the maximum length of chat history from 100 to 200.
  • 'Loot Custom' will now grab any noted or stackable items from the ground if you already have one in your backpack.
  • The fletching bench in the ranger's workroom now has a ‘use’ option which checks what fletchable ingredients you're currently carrying and attempts to guess whether to open its Ammo, Fletch or String option.
  • Combined the fletching bench's ‘toggle’ and ‘check wisdom of Anima’ options as it already had the maximum of five options.
    • In response to feedback, the fletching workbench and portable fletcher's Ammo option now prioritises tipping headless arrows over feathering arrow shafts, imbuing essence over tipping Dinarrows, and the Fletch option prioritises standard Logs over Protean Logs.
  • Unwearable items will be moved to the Inventory noted when withdrawing them from the worn tab of the Bank, if withdrawing items noted is toggled on.
  • By player request, removed Chick'arra's screech and Herman's yell and footstomp during the idle animation of these boss pets.

Graphical Update

  • Blocking tiles were added in Catherby to fix an issue that allowed players to clip through the environment.
  • A rock is no longer going through the fence at the Fishing Guild.
  • Blocking has been added to a rock cliff near the water edge at the Coal Mine in North Kandarin.
  • The bushes no longer clip through the walls at the guest house north of the Wizards' Guild in Yanille.
  • Rocks added to the wall near Sinclair Mansion.
  • Rocks near the Eagle's Peak lodestone should now have similar colours.
  • Added bubbles to the Lava near Ourania Altar.
  • The hidey-hole near the Outpost north-west of Ardougne has been added back.
  • The Sinclair Mansion hidey-hole has been remapped at the correct coordinate.
  • Fixed a blocking issue causing some Red Salamander traps to become unreachable near the Ourania Altar.
  • An inaccessible fishing spot north of the Combat Training Camp can be accessed once again.
  • Fixed an issue which caused a tree to float east of the Grand Exchange.
  • Stalls in Ardougne Market will no longer twist around abruptly when players steal from them.

    • Greater Sunshine and Greater Death's Swiftness have had their tooltip amended to more accurately display how long the abilities are active.
  • Summoned reinforcements within GWD2 should no longer be able to enter a state where they can attack the player if the player uses the AoE attack of a Summoning familiar.

Master Cape Customisation & December Community Hitlist - This Week In RuneScape

This update is stuffed with changes in our December Community Hitlist strike, Mod Ramen’s Cape Customisation and some new deals on currency packs!

The end of the year is fast approaching, but we've got just enough time to squeeze in a hitlist strike and tackle some more of your most-requested QoL changes.

This time around the team have been working on turning Revenant Enhancers into a currency to free up those precious Bank slots, updates to several audio requests players have been asking for, adding in the ability to drop items from your Backpack by shift-clicking them, adding a Load Last Preset option to bank chests, bank booths and bankers, refreshing the rare and super rare loot tables, and changing how Excalibur functions when clicked.

Phew! But that's not all the team's been up to. Check out the patch notes below for the full list of changes!

With all that out of the way, the Community Hitlist will be taking a break until January, when we'll be back to address more player pet peeves!

As if the Christmas Village wasn't colourful enough, Mod Ramen has been busy in the workshop getting his GameJam project up and running! As of today's update, you'll be able to customise your Master Capes with all the colours (and shades) of the rainbow! As if that weren't enough, you can save your prettiest particles as presets. We can't wait to see what festive patterns you come up with!

Now there's even more reasons to polish off those last few achievements and earn your Cape! You can do it!

Planning to treat yourself in RuneScape this Christmas?

The Ultimate Christmas Currency Packs offer the best value Key bundles this season, with a bumper offering of RuneCoins, Knowledge Bombs, Prismatic Stars and and some wonderfully wintery Holly Knight cosmetics! Our Medium and Large Currency Packs also contain over double the usual amount of Keys, as well as some additional Umbral Chests.

All three Ultimate Christmas Currency Packs are a one-time purchase for each offer, and will be available from today until January 3rd. You can find them in the Treasure Hunter shop on RuneScape.com.

While the Holly Knight cosmetics are part of our bumper Christmas bundle offers above, we know this offer won't be for everyone who would be interested in rocking the festive warrior look. If you're one of those players, we'll be making sure you can pick up the Holly Knight Armour & Sword from the Premier Token Store next Christmas!*

*Updating the Premier Token Store in general is still very much on our radar and something we're investigating for next year.

Starts December 4th | Ends December 10th | Academy of Heroes

The Echo of Arch-Glacor is back again, bringing with it a second chance to get your hands on some seasonal Azure-themed overrides! Keep an eye out for the Treasure Goebie - defeat them, and you'll receive extra Wrapping Paper!

Community Hitlist

  • Excalibur, Enhanced Excalibur and Augmented Enhanced Excalibur now have a consistent default action (Activate) when equipped and in the Backpack. This allows Excalibur's healing special to be activated with ease.
    • Players can now use the 'Configure' option to choose whether to instead use Wield/Remove as the default action.
    • After dragging Excalibur from the Backpack to the Action Bar, you can choose which default option the Action Bar uses.
    • The 'Configure' option also lets you choose what you'd like to shout when Excalibur is activated. 'Silent' is the default option.
  • You can now hold the Shift key and click items in the Backpack to drop them (if they support dropping, of course).
  • Doubled the output of Dinarrow components (Sharp Shell Shards, Tempered Fungal Shafts, 'Propellant') from the 3 'Accidental' Fletching and Firemaking activities south of the Anachronia dinosaur farm, and entirely reworked the eggsperimentation eggtivity to support a greater range of low- to high- intensity gameplay.
  • Wherever possible, Bank chests, booths and bankers now have a Load Last Preset option. This reloads your most recent Bank preset without needing to open, populate and close your Bank interface.
  • The 'Dare to Die' song that plays at War's Retreat now fades in more gently and plays at a lower volume, so that its drum track is gentler on the ears when passing through the PvM hub.
  • A looping ambient sound of crystal chimes has been removed from the Tower of Voices and Max Guild in Prifddinas, to better suit extensive bankstanding.
  • A repetitive moan in the Zombie Walk idle animation, audible to all nearby players, has been removed.
  • A repetitive meow in the idle animation of some cats and kittens, audible to all nearby players, has been removed.
  • By player request, we've reverted the sound played during clue scans to its pre-June version.
  • The individual charges of Revenant Drop Enhancers can now be stacked in your Currency Pouch, freeing up Bank space.
  • When loading a Bank preset including items that can be filled with essence, their current contents are now emptied into the Bank before refilling them, in case they contain a different type.
  • Rebalanced and updated the rare and super-rare loot tables to remove some of the less valuable items (Runite Stone Spirits, Molten Glass and Raw Lobsters) and increase variance of items dropping in multiples.
  • Players standing on charging pads during the Zamorak boss battle when the Infernus witch dies no longer need to step off and on again to charge the pad.
  • Clarified the Start Point description for the TokTz-Ket-Dill quest.
  • Multiple items can now be added to the Keepsake Box:
    • Enhanced Boots
    • Protea Flower
    • Superior Zuriel’s Staff
    • Superior Dragon Weapons
    • Superior Rock-Shell Armour
    • Superior Spined Armour
    • Superior Skeletal Armour
    • Monkey Trinkets
    • Cake Hat
    • Mud Mask
    • Fairy Wand
    • Pendant of Lucien
    • Mining Helmet
    • Gofannon Amulet
    • Cattleprod
    • Mouse Toy
    • Elite Death Lotus Dart
    • Legatus Pendant
    • Bug Lantern
    • Imcando Hatchet
  • The list of overhead emotes can now be filtered to only show the emotes you've unlocked.

GameJam

  • Misty, in the Deep Sea Fishing hub, now has two shiny new chat options:
    • She will tell you how long it has been since the current encounter started. No more guessing how fresh the travelling merchant is!
      • If no event is currently present, she will instead tell you how long it has been since there was an encounter.
      • She will pass on the rumours of what stock the travelling merchant has that day.
  • When purchasing the items in slots 2, 3 and 4 of the travelling merchant, it would erroneously show "Locked" instead of "Sold Out" to show the items were out of stock. This has now been corrected.
  • When the game servers reboot as part of the weekly update, there was a minimum of 45 minutes before the first encounter in deep sea fishing (such as the travelling merchant) could appear. This is no longer the case and such encounters can now potentially (depending on RNG) appear immediately after a game server reboot.

Zemouregal & Vorkath

  • Lord of Bones now reduces armour at 0.2% per stack to maximum of 40%
  • Vorkath's 'Ice Circle' attack no longer damages dreadnips or Seren spell prisms.
  • Vorkath breath attack has been updated to provide better visual feedback
  • Hard mode achievements have been added for the Zemouregal & Vorkath battle.
  • Insane Final Boss achievement now correctly shows and track hard mode as well as pet requirement
  • Some items obtained from Battle of Forinthry reward chests are now noted.
  • Zemouregal summons spawn location changed to avoid spawning under Vorkath
  • Players now only take damage if they stop in a poison pool, however, if a poison pool spawns on them, they can mitigate damage by running to an empty square, when the pool appears.
    • If crossing a single pool they will only take damage once a player stops in it.
  • Added the Vorkath Necromancy weapon overrides to the Zemouregal and Vorkath encounter's drop table.

  • Snowballs made within the Christmas Village should now give you up-to-date reclaim information upon attempting to destroy them.

    • Players wanting native 4k can manually change the setting back to 100.
  • Players using 4k resolutions may observe UI and game rendering being upscaled to 4K at high quality, costing some FPS depending on your system display scaling settings.
