This Week In RuneScape: Ninja Strike 26 - Souped Up Statues

This week, the Ninjas have struck once more. Their cold steel has glanced blows with many elements of the game, including several friction points regarding the Trimmed Completionist Cape. And you thought assassins couldn't appreciate sculpture! There's plenty more going on besides all that, too, so let's take a look.

The Ninjas are back, and they've just wrapped up another awesome scattershot strike! This week they've taken aim at statues, pets, and more - and coincidentally, several of their changes will be beneficial for those of you chasing the Trimmed Completionist Cape.

For example, sculpture enthusiasts across Gielinor will be pleased to learn that the weekly limit on the Shattered Heart D&D has been removed, so you'll no longer have to wait a minimum of 30 weeks to grab the 'Stone's Throw Away' achievement. In addition, those of you who prefer adventuring will be thrilled to delve into the Motherlode Maw and retrieve five new Enhancers.

One last big piece of news: a number of items have had their Grand Exchange buy limits adjusted. So many, in fact, that we had to squeeze the list into the Patch Notes! Head there to see all the details, as well as all the other changes the Ninjas have made.

The Rainbow's End Treasure Hunter promotion is ending at midnight tonight, September 13th. You only have a few hours left to grab those colourful goodies, including the fabulous new Rainbow Outfit.

Ninja Strike 26

Statues

  • The weekly limit on the Shattered Heart D&D has been removed - good news for those of you looking to complete the 'Stones Throw Away' achievement!
  • Strange and Golden Rocks can now be added to their respective statues directly from the Statue Collection Bag or the Backpack.
    • Added feedback messaging upon trying to add Rocks without currently possessing any.
    • Strange and Golden Rocks will now be sent to the Bank if you don't have enough Backpack space.

    • If your Bank is full, the Rock will either replace the last item received or be lost entirely, depending on the skilling method.
    • Info-boxes will now be displayed when receiving Strange or Golden Rocks.

  • The Statue Collection Bag can now be filled via the Bank while it's in the Backpack.

Enhancers

  • Added five new Enhancers, all of which may be gained from the Motherlode Maw:

    • Agile Outfit Enhancer: Grants an additional lap of progress towards the Agile Outfit per completed lap.
    • Construction Contract Enhancer: Grants +100% Construction Credits when completing a Construction contract.
    • Anachronia Base Camp Enhancer: Grants a +20% drop chance for rare building resources across Anachronia.
      • This stacks with the Roar of Osseous effect, giving a maximum +30% drop chance.

    • Invention Task Enhancer: Grants a new task for the tech tree that you last completed a task for.
    • Menaphos City Quest Enhancer: Grants +100% reputation when completing a Menaphos city quest.

Pets

  • The Creeping Hand pet has been converted to an interface pet.
    • Players are no longer able to feed the Creeping Hand Leather Gloves.
    • If a player owns more than one Creeping Hand, they will be removed and the player will receive some Thaler in compensation, regardless of which currency was originally used to purchase the additional pets.

  • The Gecko pet has been converted to an interface pet.
    • If a player owns more than one Gecko they will be awarded coloured Geckos accordingly.

  • Adult Geckos can now be caught in Box Traps.

Grand Exchange Buy Limits

  • Adjusted the Grand Exchange buy limits of various items:

General QoL

  • The Spirit Cape unlock's special move cost reduction now applies to non-combat familiars.
  • Moved buyer-contract options at Manor Farm and The Ranch Out of Time to a noticeboard, which allows players to easily select which buyers they'd like to sell to.
    • Renamed an option on both Granny Potterington and Prehistoric Potterington to reflect these changes.

  • Players can now select whether to have stack value show the Grand Exchange price, the High Alchemy Price. They can also disable the display altogether.
    • This can be done under Settings > Item Drops > Item Stack Information.
    • This means Ironmen will no longer have to see High Alchemy prices.
    • This affects how much Gold is added to Runemetrics drops based on the chosen setting, and will adjust accordingly when the setting is changed.

  • Fixed an issue where it was possible to obtain multiple rare items for the Anachronia Base Camp.
  • The 'Conquest Adore' achievement is no longer required for the Trimmed Completionist Cape.
  • The Lorehound pet will now affect the drop rates of Ancient Pages and Magister's Journal Pages.

The Glacor Front

Fixes

  • Reaper Assignments will now correctly indicate that the Arch-Glacor is the target when using quick-chat.
  • Fixed a grammar error on the grouping system UI for the Arch-Glacor fight.
  • Arch-Glacor logs are now shown in the Adventurer's Log.
  • Rewards from the Arch-Glacor fight are now given to the top three players.
  • The Arch-Glacor's drops will no longer spawn below the boss, where they are inaccessible to players.
  • Players can now consistently leave the Arch-Glacor arena after defeating the boss in hard mode.

Burthorpe Path

Improvements

  • The Lumbridge Guardsmen and Harlan the Defense skill master have had a trip to the armoury! They're all sporting snazzy new armour in which they'll defend Lumbridge in style.
    • This includes the Lumbridge Guardsmen who appear during a cutscene in You Are It.
    • Head and chathead models have also been updated!

  • Dark wizards have clearly been checking off their tasklist, because they're now wearing the Dark Mage Outfit from Yak to Basics. At least, we think they are - we don't want to get too close!
  • A UI tutorial regarding Charms dropped by cows in Burthorpe now only occurs upon receiving the specific Charm required to close the prompt.
  • Changed the default position of the Loot window on desktop.

Other

Improvements

  • The Auto Loot Bars option has been removed from Metallic Dragon Trinkets.
  • The interfaces for Dragon and Metallic Dragon Trinkets have been refreshed.

Fixes

  • Using 'Open all' on Geodes now correctly interrupts the Mining action - you'll still receive XP and ore.
  • Re-enabled the ability to apply the 'bloom' graphical setting on mobile.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Fire Urn spell from awarding Crafting XP if your level was less than 82.
  • Mining within the Clan Citadel will now play an animation featuring the correct pickaxe.
  • Fixed a typo in Leonard's dialogue.
  • Players may now summon familiars at The Azure Prison checkpoint in the Temple of Amanishi.
  • Removed a cheeky extra book from the 'Taking it Easy' rest animation.
  • Portable Workbenches can now be searched for on the Grand Exchange.
  • HOTFIXED: Death will no longer assign bosses he shouldn't.
  • Resizing the interface in Edit Mode will now automatically update the interface to take the new size into consideration.
  • The Monks of Zamorak in the Paterdomus Church can now be damaged by AoE abilities.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Varrock Armour 4 from being unlocked once the requirements were met.
  • Added blocking to two trees outside Draynor Manor and south of Barbarian Village.
  • Reporting a player from a Clan will now correctly grey out the name of the reporter.
  • Chat messages regarding luck-increasing items are now fully localized on German, French, and Brazilian-Portuguese servers.
  • The naming conventions for dyed objects have been made more consistent.
  • Fixed an issue that caused some of the boss buttons on the Reaper's Choice list to be disabled even when players met the requirements.
  • Opening the Upgrades and Extras interface at the start of a duel will no longer delay the first hit of damage.
  • Expanding the 'Feats' achievement category will no longer make the scrollbar disappear.
  • Fixed a bug on the 'Back' button on desktop. The mobile button is still working as intended.
  • Corrected some minor mapping issues in War's Retreat.
  • Made a number of changes to Feathers of Ma'at to stop issues with completing corrupted creature Slayer Tasks:
    • Feathers are now destroyed on drop to prevent them being placed on the floor.
    • Feathers can no longer be traded to a Beast of Burden.
    • You must now have at least one Feather in your Backpack before starting to fight corrupted creatures and soul devourers.
    • Loot will now go to the person who used the Feather, rather than the player who hit the creature first.

  • Raids bosses and the first two bosses of each Elite Dungeon are once again hidden in Reaper's Choice, and cannot be assigned as a Reaper Task.
  • Fixed an issue where all subsequent bosses in the Reaper's Choice interface after the first locked boss were also locked.
  • Death once again ignores 'soft conditions' on bosses when determining whether he can assign them as a Reaper Task. For example, Death will assign the Magister provided you have 115 Slayer even if you don't have any Keys to the Crossing. Soft conditions include acquirable items like Barrows Totems, Ascension Keystones, etc.
  • Soft conditions (as described above) are now distinguished from hard requirements in the tooltips for Beasts boss requirements, and the relevant wording has been made clearer.
  • Corrected an issue where Song from the Depths was unintentionally a requirement for Death to assign Queen Black Dragon as a Reaper Task.
  • Missing requirements (both hard and soft) have been added to the requirements section of the Beasts tab.
  • The familiar renewal message is no longer duplicated when the familiar is renewed with an active Totem of Summoning.
  • The Icefiends on Ice Mountain will no longer attack using fire. Safety first!
  • Potions now consistently show doses in the Herblore Skillguide.
  • Fixed an issue where players could not restore Summoning points if they didn't have a pet summoned.
  • Players must now use the Grand Piano Key on the piano to unlock a door to the south in the Broken Home quest.
  • Shaikahan cannot be poisoned unless using a Poisoned Spear and Poison Potion.
    • Shaikahan is also dropping bones again. So that's where the Arch-Glacor was getting them from!

  • The correct NPC animations will now play during a scene around the Falador map table in While Guthix Sleeps.
  • The Berserker Blood Essence buff will no longer remove unrelated buffs when it expires.
  • Unreachable spots near the Elf Camp are now reachable.
  • The camera can now be freely rotated during the court case scene in King's Ransom.
  • The animation played when riveting Masterwork Armour has changed.
  • You may now toggle whether Buckets are destroyed or not when making Molten Glass.
  • The player character will no longer freeze after casting a two-handed Shock or Horror spell.
  • You may now choose between three different personalities for your Kipple Nano pet.

The Nodon Front

Improvements

  • The Fractured Staff of Armadyl has been added to the Magic Skill Guide.
  • The Needle in the Colosseum in Senntisten can now be examined.

Fixes

  • Achievements that require the boss to be killed in a certain way will no longer be awarded to players who joined in the middle of an encounter.
  • When a player dies in the Wilderness with the dyed version of the Fractured Staff of Armadyl equipped, they will leave the broken base version of it as loot.
  • The overlapping abandoned siege engine in The Nodon Front has been removed.
  • The materials cart in The Nodon Front has been moved slightly north.

Senntisten Archaeology

Fixes

  • Timesprites are now visible when travelling between excavation hotspots in Senntisten.
  • Fixed some graphical issues where multiple Archaeology icons were visible within Senntisten.
  • Decorative shovels in Senntisten can no longer be interacted with.

Quality of Life

Improvements

  • Slayer and Reaper tasks in the Activity Tracker now include a 'Weakness' field in their description which highlights the most effective combat style. During a task, an icon for this weakness will replace its Activity Tracker icon.
  • The text which appears when hovering over the Slayer Counter if you are able to capture the target's soul and have not yet done so will now also appear in the Activity Tracker description for that task.
  • Slayer and Reaper tasks in the Activity Tracker now continue to display the name of the target when there are no kills left, instead of displaying 'no task'. This makes it consistent with the Slayer/Reaper counter.
  • Slayer and Reaper tasks in the Activity Tracker will now refresh correctly if the target changes but the number of kills left remains the same.
  • If fighting a boss will require you to be on a members' world, an icon for this will now appear in the Beasts tab under 'requirements'.
  • The requirements to reach, pass and enter the God Wars Dungeon are now described in greater detail across multiple icons for God Wars Dungeon bosses.
  • The hover/longpress tooltip for various drinks now includes a description of their specific stat buffs and debuffs.
  • The tooltips for Run Energy Potions and Drinks now indicate the percentage of Run Energy restored instead of a solid integer.
  • Renamed the 'Mature WMB' to 'Wizard's Mind Bomb (m)' to be consistent with other mature drinks.
  • Nettle Tea will now heal and restore Run Energy in all circumstances. Previously, it only restored Run Energy when the drinker had full health.

Burthorpe Path

Improvements

  • Replaced the unpopular RS3 Default layout with the current New Player layout, so that new players can experiment more freely.
  • Renamed the RS2 Default layout 'Default' since there's now only one layout with the 'Default' title.
  • Scripted environment overrides - such as those applied by specific areas or player-controlled skybox filters - now use the updated cubemaps for more realistic metal reflections.

Fixes

  • Achievements for the Giant Mole, King Black Dragon and Chaos Elemental no longer display membership as a requirement - including in the Bossing Path - as they can be completed in free-to-play.
  • Fixed an issue where some of the optional Burthorpe paths couldn't be completed after completing the Path to Lumbridge.
  • The Farming, Herblore and Summoning Paths are now listed in the Burthorpe and Taverley Path Book upon completing Turael's Slayer Path. Previously, they were unlocked by receiving certain drops available from Burthorpe trolls after completing the Slayer Path.
  • Prevented a UI tutorial for Summoning Charm drops that occurred for certain players when killing cows in Burthorpe.
  • On Mobile only, the Activity Tracker UI tutorial that guides a new player onto the Burthorpe paths now guides them through pressing the static Activity Tracker button in the top left corner to open it.

    • Desktop still starts where it always did, with the Activity Tracker forced onscreen.

  • Added a missing spotlight to one of the stages of Turael's second combat interface tutorial on mobile.
  • Fixed an issue where the Archaeology UI tutorial referring to materials in the artefact restoration overlay wasn't attached to this overlay, and therefore appeared out of bounds on Mobile.

Other

Fixes

  • The Bossing Path can now be removed from the Activity Tracker.
  • The Bossing Path, if selected, now advances to the next available boss in the path when the selected boss is first defeated.
  • Fixed an issue where players could walk inside a rock in Davendale.

  • The location of the Pyramid Plunder UI overlay has been moved so it does not obstruct the middle of the game screen.
  • Corrected an issue where some achievements that require specific skill levels were not marked as complete when logging in.

This Week In RuneScape: The Glacor Front & Leonard's Lucky Dip

This week marks the end of summer, and as September rolls in we're definitely feeling the chill here in Gielinor, as the Elder God Wen makes her move on the Elder God Wars Dungeon! In other news, we've got a new take on an old favourite in Leonard's Lucky Dip, plus the results of the War Effort competitions!

A chilling new enemy has arrived in the Elder God Wars Dungeon! Head to the southern district of Senntisten and prepare to face Wen's army of glacors and glacytes, lead by the ultimate frosty foe: an Arch-Glacor who'd like nothing more than to freeze you and everything else in its path.

[previewyoutube="lSpm6a-XRrk;full"]

The Arch-Glacor is RuneScape's most customisable boss yet, with loads of unique mechanics you can toggle on and off to adjust the challenge level. It's ideal for bossing beginners and veterans alike!

Each mechanic is suppressed by one of Gielinor's most powerful mages. Speak to one, or more, of them to give them a break and let the Arch-Glacor wreak some havoc as you learn its mechanics with safe deaths and group bossing enabled. Alternatively, speak to Azzanadra to enable every mechanic at once and enter Hard Mode. In this high-octane challenge, you'll need to use all your new skills to survive. Deaths are enabled, and you'll have to face the Arch-Glacor alone - but the rewards are very much worth the risk.

Speaking of rewards, there's all sorts of powerful items you can get your hands on, including:

  • Dark Shard of Leng (T95)
  • Dark Sliver of Leng (T95)
  • Dark Ice Shard
  • Dark Ice Sliver
  • Leng Artefact
  • Glacor Adornment
  • Arch-Glacor Adornment
  • Ur-Glacor Adornment
  • Gladys, the Arch-Glacor boss pet

For more information, check out the reveal newspost.

Remember, you'll need at least 84 Slayer to fight Wen's army, and you'd do well to have a read through our official Survival Guide. Best of luck, adventurers - the world of Gielinor is counting on you.

Brr, that was all a bit foreboding, wasn't it? Now for something completely different: Leonard's Lucky Dip! In case you missed last week's newspost, we'll fill you in: Leonard's Lucky Dip is a new event inspired by an old favourite, filled with awesome new prizes and improved mechanics.

Sticking with the God Wars theme, this year's big-ticket prizes include the Golden God Wars Armours. These fantastically shiny versions of the Bandos, Armadyl and Subjugation sets are brand-new for this event - so you won't want to miss out on your chance to take them home.

You'll be able to grab your ticket on September 1st. Just head to Burthorpe and speak to Leonard to play!

We've got a couple of competitions wrapping up this week, so without further ado - oh, go on then, we can have a drumroll or two - let's announce the winners!

First up, our social media generals asked you all to head to The Nodon Front, support the war effort, and share your screenshots with us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook as proof.

More than 36,000 Nodon siege engines were destroyed, around 3,400 of which were repaired to fight back against the dragonkin. In addition, over 10 billion meals were cooked for our troops - we're surprised they can move at all after that feast!

In total, three out of our four community objectives were completed - and so 30 winners will each receive three bonds. Here's the list:

Senntisten Archaeology

Fixes

  • Players can no longer excavate more Stained Glass Shards than are necessary to fully repair Senntisten Cathedral's windows.
  • Uncovering mysteries no longer sends multiple chat messages.
  • The Ancient Statue now has a chat head animation.
  • Fixed a typo in Eblis' dialogue.

Elder God Wars Dungeon

Fixes

  • Kerapac's time clones no longer target players that have left the boss fight.
  • The Staff of Armadyl's special attack's initial hit will now deal 50-200% ability damage as stated in the tooltip.
  • Greater Concentrated Blast's tooltop has been updated to match its live damage values.

Gloves of Passage Balancing

We’re addressing the unique case of Gloves of Passage. Since release, the gloves haven't performed as well as we would like.

Simply put, their damage barely makes up for the fact you have to use a lower damage ability. Considering the Gloves also have to compete with Cinderbanes, Masterwork and the Death Touched Bracelet, this has become a serious issue. To fix it, we'd like to up the damage of the Gloves to help them compete in solo encounters, while also giving them a helpful buff in group and extended fights.

  • After the Havoc or Smash ability successfully hits, your next melee attack within 6 seconds will deal 10% increased damage, up from 7%.
  • After the Havoc or Smash ability successfully hits, the target will also take 20% increased damage from bleeds for the next 10 seconds. This does not apply in PvP.

Guardian's Gifts

  • Guardian's Gifts are no longer being distributed upon log-in. If you have already claimed yours, you will be able to continue using and reclaiming them until they run out of charges.

Other

Fixes

  • Silvarea's spooky environment settings have been restored.
  • Fixed an issue where Pearl the Unicorn was listed as free on the Store but was charging RuneCoins when purchased.
  • The confirmation button reading 'Leave Game?' when closing the free membership trial popup that appears when first arriving in Burthorpe on mobile has been changed to 'Continue Journey?' for clarity.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Once Upon a Time: Fortunes miniquest from being completed.

Elder God Wars Dungeon: The Glacor Front Survival Guide

Wen's attack of the Senntisten cathedral brings forth the Glacor Siege – a powerful elemental army of glacors and glacytes, storming the ancient city streets and freezing everything in their path. You’ll need to send armies of elves south across a bridge to hold off these frozen foes, and assist a group of six mages as they take on the formidable Arch-Glacor!

This bitterly cold battle is especially exciting because it features new adjustable mechanics for the boss fight, allowing you to scale up your experienceto learn, challenge and grow. This is your guide to taking on the Front and the rewards you’ll reap if you’re successful.

Remember that for each Front we release, you can benefit from free death reclaims and free Ring of Death charges when engaging in combat activities. With the Glacor Front, deaths are free forever for the normal mode (including for Hardcore Ironmen).

How To Play

If you didn't have a chance to join us last Friday, you can watch the reveal stream over on Twitch, where we discussed the boss and mechanics in detail.

You can also read this article for a detailed description of the boss and its various malicious manoeuvres, from its pillars of ice to its terrifying exposed core attack!

Leonard's Lucky Dip!

Roll up, roll up, and grab your tickets for Leonard’s Lucky Dip! This daily event will run from September 1st to September 30th. Throughout the month, you'll be able to win Tickets through your usual activities, exchange them with Leonard in Burthorpe, and win amazing prizes you can't get anywhere else.

You might recognise this event as a spiritual successor to Balthazar’s Big Raffle, which last ran in September 2019. Aside from Leonard himself, who’s taken over proceedings, we’ve made a bunch of other improvements:

  • You can now receive Lucky Dip Tickets while training your skills or participating in combat.
  • We’ve added new prize categories! Read all about them in the ‘Rewards’ section below.
  • You can now see which rewards you’ve already won on the event interface.
  • You can also see your chances of winning a prize in each category on the event interface.
  • To prevent unscrupulous behaviour, all players must now have a total level of 250 to participate in the Lucky Dip.
  • You can enter up to 15 times a day.
  • You can choose to enter any category you wish, any time you want – whereas previously, the categories available were locked to particular days.
  • You can now purchase a ‘Lucky Dip Reclamation Service’ from the Marketplace. If you’ve missed any daily tickets by forgetting to talk to Leonard, this’ll let you claim them all back
  • The ‘Protean Pack’ category is now the ‘Item Pack’ category, which contains a wider range of prizes – including Dwarven Tools!
  • All rewards (including ones from Balthazar’s Big Raffle!) are now reclaimable from Diango in Draynor.
  • When the event ends on September 30th, Leonard will stick around for a seven-day grace period, which you can learn more about below.

Getting Tickets

You can get Tickets in all kinds of ways!

To get you started, you’ll receive 10 free Tickets the first time you log-in during the event.

You can also claim a free daily ticket from Leonard, opposite the Burthorpe Lodestone, once per day. You can obtain a second daily ticket by completing the Daily Challenge or by speaking to Gilly Willikers, who’ll be hiding out somewhere in Gielinor.

Lastly, you’ll earn Tickets by playing the game as you normally would – by participating in combat and training your skills!

Prizes

Leonard’s rounded up loads of fantastic prizes from every corner of Gielinor this year, but let’s take a look at those new categories, shall we?

First of all, the new ‘Coins’ category will let you walk away with 100 million, 250 million, or 500 million coins. Wowza!

The ‘Protean Pack’ category has been reshuffled into the ‘Item Pack’ category, which includes prizes like Portable Deposit Boxes, Dwarven Tools, Deathtouched Darts, and all that lovely stuff.

Our last new category is ‘Golden God Wars’, which includes some super-shiny versions of the Bandos, Armadyl and Robes of Subjugation sets.

Of course, you’ll still be able to win Balthazar’s old selection of favourites, including Golden versions of the Barrows and Warpriest Armours, Godswords, and Chaotic weapons.

As noted above, these items will all be reclaimable from Diango – including the ones you won from Leonard’s predecessor, Balthazar.

In addition, if you’re not lucky enough to win a grand (named) prize in your chosen category, you’ll still receive some Medium XP Lamps as a consolation prize. Winner winner, chicken dinner!

But that's not all! On top of all of the above prizes there's also 5 limited edition titles up for grabs!

  • (name), First of the Lucky Five
  • (name), Second of the Lucky Five
  • (name), Third of the Lucky Five
  • (name), Fourth of the Lucky Five
  • (name), Fifth of the Lucky Five

These unique titles will be given out at random to five lucky players who take part in Leonard's Lucky Dip. You get one chance for every Ticket you enter into Leonard's Lucky Dip, so the more you play the better your chance of winning one of these fortuitous titles! Winning players will receive their titles in October.

Requirements

You’ll need to have a total level of at least 250 and RuneScape Membership to participate in the Lucky Dip.

Ironman accounts will not be able to participate.

Gifts of The Creator Promotion & Discontinuing Hearts of Ice

Over the past 18 months, we've been providing more choice and control in Treasure Hunter. Be that through promotions like Diamond Dozen and Ring of Shards, or new mechanics like the Duty of Care update, we're continually looking for ways to ensure Treasure Hunter offers a great experience.

We want to talk about what we're doing next - from our most transparent promotion ever through to some currency refinements that streamline the Treasure Hunter experience even further. Let's dive into it!

New Promotion: Gifts Of The Creator

We're excited to trial a new promotion on Thursday August 26th called Gifts of The Creator, which we believe offers the most transparency and choice in Treasure Hunter to date.

In Gifts of The Creator, spending a Key gives you a clear choice between three options - a Medium Lamp, a Medium Star or 3 Mini Protean Packs (each containing 10 Protean items). For every Key you spend, you are guaranteed these choices without any variation in what you get. It's as simple as that.

On top of the set value of Keys, Gifts of The Creator also contains a Reward Track packed with juicy yellow, orange, red and purple rarity prizes. These additional prizes are given out at set intervals of Keys used during the promotion - every 5 keys you'll get a bonus prize with red and purple prizes guaranteed to appear throughout the reward track!

While the rewards within each rarity are unique to the player, you can always see the next 20 rewards and their rarity ahead of you. We hope this offers a good experience and great value, enabling you to make more educated decisions about how you spend your Keys.

Discontinuing Hearts of Ice

In addition, we've also decided to retire Hearts of Ice from Treasure Hunter within the next few months.

Originally designed (among other things) to freeze out prizes you don't want, Hearts of Ice were originally intended to provide players more control over their potential rewards. However, with the changes we've already made and those outlined above, Hearts of Ice have become increasingly redundant and - for many - a very low value currency compared to something like Oddments. For these reasons, we feel it's best to streamline Treasure Hunter by removing Hearts of Ice and instead focusing squarely on Oddments.

We'll be honouring any Hearts of Ice you currently own and converting them into Oddments at a ratio of 5:1 (Hearts of Ice : Oddments), with no cap on the number that can be converted. If you'd prefer to use your Hearts of Ice instead of converting them, please do so over the weeks ahead - we'll confirm the date of their removal as soon as we know.

As with all our trials, feedback on the Gifts of The Creator experience is crucial. Once you've given it a try, we'd love to hear what you think - either on Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Discord or over on our Forums. Thanks in advance for your feedback, and we hope you enjoy these new changes!

This time, you won’t just be completing tasks and earning great rewards – you’ll also find out what Johanhus is up to! Can you put a stop to it before things get out of hand?

Among the rewards available you’ll find something totally new: the ‘Unwinged Harbinger of Jas’ and ‘Unwinged Harbinger of Wen’ titles. Should you prefer your rewards winged, you’ll also be able to take home the awe-inspiring Drakes of Wen and Jas, which can be seen swooping around menacingly in this section’s banner.

At Tier 50, you'll unlock the stylish Wen Neophyte's Outfit on the Free Track, and the terrifying Drake of Jas on the Premium Track, along with a huge selection of boosts, Oddments, Deathtouched Darts and a Protean Pack.

You'll get access to all the most awesome rewards, plus everything you would have unlocked so far - it's a real deal! If you're a Premier Club member, you'll already have access to the Premium Track for free - and if not, you can always pick up Premier Club in our scorching hot Summer Sale!

Before you get started, please have a read through the changes for this iteration of the Yak Track:

Skill & Kill Tasks

Path of the Creators has more skill and kill tasks than ever before – so it’s easier than ever to play your way and reap those sweet rewards.

You’ll also have more chances to earn Marks of War, so this is a great opportunity to try the Elder God Wars Dungeon bosses if you haven’t already. Warm up with Kerapac, and then test your skills against the mighty Arch-Glacor next week!

XP Buff

Those of you on the Premier Track have an extra surprise in store – a 25% XP buff which increases by 1% for every five tasks completed up to Tier 45, and then another 16% at Tier 50! You’ll be able to see your total on the Buff Bar.

Please note that this feature does not apply to Ironman accounts.

Task Changes

The following have been converted into ‘Gain XP’ type tasks:

  • Herblore
  • Thieving

Archaeology tasks will now always be 'Gain XP'.

In addition, specific smelting tasks have been removed, as all Smithing tasks are now ‘Gain XP’.

Reveal artwork by Golden Gnomes winning community artist, Wiloway.

The next front of the Elder God Wars Dungeon has been revealed! On August 31st, you'll be taking on Wen's glacor army and facing down her general, a gargantuan, supremely powerful Arch-Glacor. In case you missed it, you can find all the details in Friday's blog.

The Ninja Team have seen some confusion over last week’s Action Bars update and have shared a detailed post about how exactly they work in the Official Forums. If you missed it, you can read it here!

UI

Improvements

  • Updated the mobile and desktop chat system to use NotoSans font type.
  • Expanded the chat font size to include values between 10-22, incrementing by values of 2.

Senntisten Archaeology

Improvements

  • Beautiful stained-glass windows now appear in Senntisten's cathedral.

Fixes

  • Hotfix – Clicking outside the interface no longer prevents players from unlocking the special research ‘Complete the Pattern, Solve the Puzzle’.

Mobile

Improvements:

  • When sending a Private Message from the Friends List, your chat window will now automatically switch to the Private tab. Likewise, sending messages to other channels will now switch you to that channel.
  • The Friends Chat and Clan Chat lists are now visually consistent with all the other chat options on mobile.
  • A new blocking layer has been added to the mobile chat box.

Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue which caused new mobile users to log into the game without a ribbon.

Burthorpe Path

Improvements

  • Moved the hide-tanning option on the Burthorpe Crafting Tutor to a separate tanner NPC at the edge of the cow field, so that interacting with the crafting tutor is less complex.
  • Adjusted the background colour of the Activity Tracker ribbon button from blue to green to match the Quest Icon and Adventures parent ribbon button.
    • Additionally, tooltips for the ribbon buttons no longer overlap and are positioned based on the location of the ribbon.

  • User interface tutorial popups on desktop now use the same font size as on mobile, so that tutorial text is more comfortable to read and digest.

Ninja Strike 25

Fixes

  • Players yet to log in since the Action Bar update will not have their additional Action Bar positions reset on custom interface layouts when loading them for the first time.

Other

Improvements

  • Made several improvements to The Restless Ghost quest:
    • Graphically updated The Restless Ghost (with the exception of his hat) and his Muddy Skull.
    • You may now interact with the coffin to put the Skull inside.
    • Updated various feedback messages that were only visible if chat was open to infoboxes.
    • Modernised the conclusion cutscene and resolved various defects.

Fixes

  • The ‘Prepare’ option on the Cooking Tutor's table in the Beneath Cursed Tides quest is now hidden when the player has finished preparing Seaweed for the chef, instead of triggering a conversation with him that may have the wrong chathead if the chef is no longer crassianed. (You don't have to be crassianed to work here, but it helps!)
  • Fixed an issue which stopped store assets from being rendered on mobile for German, French and Portuguese localizations.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented Telekinetic Grab in the Mage Training Arena.
  • The following area task achievements can now be completed on F2P worlds:
    • Hoof Rot
    • The Wanderer
    • Up to the Gods
    • Do They Come In Other Colours
    • Kitty Litter
    • Plank You Very Much
    • You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry
    • A Bolt from the Blue

  • Magical Dice no longer stall the player's actions or script queues such as incoming damage. Performing another action such as moving to another location cancels the die roll.
  • Fixed a lobby error on Steam which caused an empty popup to appear for free-to-play users when clicking the membership icon.

Elder God Wars Dungeon: The Glacor Front

For now at least, the defenders of Senntisten Cathedral are holding fast against the Nodon Dragonkin and their leader, Kerapac. But hold off on that sigh of relief – a bitter chill has cut across the south of the city. The Elder God Wen is about to begin an assault of her own.

[previewyoutube="lSpm6a-XRrk;full"]

Welcome, brave adventurer, to the Glacor Front. Here, you’ll face off against new glacor Slayer mobs, lead by an ancient, unstoppable Arch-Glacor. By your side stand Gielinor’s most powerful mages. They can provide you with an even greater challenge, in a RuneScape first: a fully-scalable bossing experience suitable for everyone, from new PvMers to seasoned vets.

The Army

Wen’s army has overrun the south of the city, transforming its ancient streets into their new icy dominion under the shadow of the old aqueduct.

This powerful ice-elemental army is made up of glacors and their smaller cousins, glacytes. You’ll need 84 Slayer to even think about fighting them, but destroying them is well worth it – they leave behind Glacor Remnants, a core ingredient needed to craft some of the powerful new weapons that can be found on The Glacor Front.

To aid in your battle, Helwyr can gift you his poisonous gas mushroom ability – a taste of nature’s power should freeze the glacors in their tracks. You can find Helwyr guarding the last bridge between the glacors and the cathedral, alongside the elves of the Cadarn and Iorwerth clans.

Wen's General: The Arch-Glacor

The Arch-Glacor is the giant, evil ice elemental looming over the battlefield. You can’t miss it! Its sole purpose is to freeze over everything – and everyone – in its path.

This creature has such immense power that six of Gielinor’s greatest magic practitioners have banded together to dampen its capabilities: Charos, Ariane, Arianwyn, Akthanakos, Enakhra and Azzanadra. If you’re up for a real challenge though, you can give one (or more!) of them a break and activate the unique scalable twist at the heart of this boss fight.

A Scalable Boss Challenge

In a first for RuneScape, the Arch-Glacor is a boss that lets you toggle on and off various mechanics to customize the difficulty of the experience. To enable or disable a mechanic, you’ll need to speak to one of the mages and either give them an opportunity to rest or bring them back into the battle. The more mechanics you have enabled, the better the rewards!

This power-dampening system is designed to help players who are new to PvM learn key boss mechanics one by one – or in combination - while still providing a respectable challenge for experienced warriors. If you haven’t felt ready to face a boss before, there’s no better time to give it a go!

Art by: Willoway

Here’s a look at the mechanics the Arch-Glacor has at its disposal:

Creeping Ice

Teaches: Basic Movement

This Mechanic is always enabled.

Ice Shards approach slowly from either side and force the player into a specific area of the arena. This attack occurs before any toggled mechanic to teach players how to be prepared for incoming attacks.

Glacyte Minions

Teaches: ADDS Management & Target Switching

Mage: Ariane

Additional glacytes are spawned. As well as attacking the player, the Arch-Glacor will be immune to damage until all its minions are killed.

Flurry

Teaches: Prayer Flicking & Reading Animations

Mage: Arianwyn

The Arch-Glacor will switch between two different damage types with high damage in their respective style. The player has increased damage reduction when praying against the correct combat style.

Pillars of Ice

Teaches: Advanced Movement & Kiting

Mage: Akthanakos

The Arch-Glacor forces the player to one side and calls down elemental beams from the sky. The beam follows the player, then splits into two to harass the player from two sides. Being hit by the beam deals damage and saps 8% of max Prayer points.

Frost Cannon

Teaches: Shield Switching & Resonance/Defensives

Mage: Charos

The Arch-Glacor traps the player in a small area and launches a huge surge of energy at them. This attack is unavoidable, requiring the use of other tactics to survive.

Exposed Core

Teaches: DPS & Survival

Mage: Enakhra

The Arch-Glacor releases its frozen core into the centre of the arena, causing its body to collapse and become inanimate, while slamming both its arms down on either side of the player.

The frozen core begins to emanate a harsh, icy energy that damages and applies a stacking debuff on the player. The damage grows with every stack. To escape, the player must smash through either of the arms and get out of its proximity in order to escape death.

Any combination of these mechanics is the Normal Mode experience. In Normal Mode, all deaths are safe, so there are no costs or penalties for failure. In addition, the Arch-Glacor can be fought with others – yes, boss massing is enabled!

However, for those looking for a real challenge, there’s one more option in play…

Hard Mode

Whether you’re a bossing veteran or simply looking to cut your teeth on a trickier battle, Hard Mode is the toughest challenge the Arch-Glacor can offer.

As a god, Azzanadra is holding the majority of the Arch-Glacor’s power at bay. Asking Azzanadra to rest will enable all mechanics and add additional changes that up the ante even further.

You can only enter Hard Mode as a solo player and there are no safe deaths – but for those who surmount this challenge, exclusive Tier 95 melee weapon drops await.

This Week in RuneScape: Ninja Strike 25 & Senntisten Archaeology

Hello, and welcome to This Week in RuneScape! In today's update we've got Senntisten Archaeology, the Premier Club Summer Sale and a totally awesome Ninja Strike! So sharpen your katana and gather your shuriken, and let's take a look!

The Ninja Team are back, and this week they’ve been honing their attacks on Action Bars.

To kick things off, all RuneScape members will receive two free Action Bar Presets when they next enter the game, bringing the total to 15.

But how will you ever keep track? By naming them, of course – another thing you’ll be able to do from today’s update. Oh, and if you’re so inclined, you can also save the toggle states of your additional action bars with custom interface layouts now. Nice!

Lastly, the Ninjas have made tons of QoL improvements regarding how Action Bars are named, saved and described in-game. For full details, check the Patch Notes!

Our newest Archaeology mini-digsite is now open! If you have RuneScape Membership and level 60 Archaeology or higher, you’ll be able to explore the hidden mysteries beneath the lost Zarosian capital of Senntisten.

In Senntisten, you’ll explore six excavation spots across four different sites throughout the city. With a little bit of luck and perseverance, you’ll get your hands on 18 new restorable artefacts, uncover three new mysteries, and power up with the awesome Aurelius’ Mask Relic.

This powerful Relic will let you tap into the power of the shadows to zoom all over Gielinor by granting you all the benefits of the ‘Mobile’ perk. For reference, that means you’ll be able to use 50 Energy to get a 50% reduction on the cooldown of movement abilities like Surge or Barge. The catch is that you won’t generate Adrenaline on these abilities as you would normally – but that’s a small price to pay for speedy skilling!

Speaking of skilling, Senntisten will also provide you with the opportunity to gain some Crafting XP while repairing a few stained-glass windows around the city. That ought to brighten the place up a bit!

Premier Club is back! If you missed out on Gold Premier Club back at the start of the year, you’ll have a second chance to purchase it – and get your hands on all the same goodies – from August 16th (today!) to September 14th (not today!).

To reiterate, you’ll get all the same benefits as you normally would, including:

  • 12 Months of RuneScape Membership
  • Ozzie the Osprey pet
  • Ceremonial Guard Armour
  • Yak Track Premier Pass rewards
  • And loads more!

Please note that the Premier Club Summer Sale offer is not available to past 2020/21 Premier Club Gold, Silver, and Bronze members. However Active Silver Premier Club subscriptions are eligible for upgrade to a Premier Club Gold Membership from the shop. But you won’t duplicate any items – so, for example, you won’t get any of the monthly drops you’ve already received for a second time.

For full details, check out the Premier Club page.

Teleport restrictions

Teleport restrictions have been removed from the following boss encounters:

  • Vorago
  • Solak
  • Nex: Angel of Death
  • Rise of The Six
  • The Liberation of Mazcab raid
  • Araxxor

Note: The teleport restriction remains in place for Telos due to the nature of the loot streaking system.

Hopefully, this will allow for a smoother boss experience for new and returning adventurers, as it removes the need to visit Death, or return to the lobby when you or a teammate make a minor mistake! We will continue to monitor as we actively look at ways to remove the friction from your endeavours.

Spells

  • Divine storm now deals correct damage. (previously passed level 60 it gained 6 damage per level rather than 9.6
  • Surge spells now scale to T99 damage (was T92).
  • Smoke/Shadow Blitz spells now scale to T92 damage to match ice and blood.
  • Barrage spells now scale to T99 damage.
  • Aurora spells now scale to T99 damage.
  • Increased the range of the 'ruby aurora' effect from 2 tiles -> 5 tiles.
  • Spell tooltips now state which damage tier they scale up to.

Greater Concentrated Blast

We've taken steps to power down the Greater Concentrated Blast ability upgrade slightly so it fits where we feel a 'Greater' basic ability should sit. Below, we've broken down all the core information on where this sat and now sits within the magic ability set.

- A live 4 tick* concentrated blast, on average deals 147.6% ability damage.

- Due to taking 4 ticks, players would often cancel before the final hit for an average of 94.2%.

- In live a Greater Concentrated Blast will currently deal on average 181.9% ability damage.

- This is an average increase of 93% over a cancelled Concentrated Blast.

- Our adjusted values bring the average damage of a greater concentrated blast down to 160.2% ability damage.

- Over a standard concentrated blast cancelled, this is an increase of 70% damage.

- Compared to a non-cancelled concentrated blast (2.4 seconds) this is still an increase of 8.5% down from 23% whilst still saving 0.6 seconds on the ability.

- * 1 'tick' = 0.6 seconds"

As always, we'll continue to monitor how the ability performs and continue to make adjustments.

Greater Ricochet

With Greater Ricochet we felt that the amount of damage it did was too strong given the short cooldown and the fact it is classified as a Greater basic ability.

Rather than target synergies with on-hit effects, we have chosen to tone down the upfront damage to a point where we feel it sits comfortably alongside our other Greater abilities.

This means in order to get the most out of Greater Ricochet you want to focus on utilising on-hit effects (e.g Split Soul or bolt effects). Furthermore to this we have changed the interaction with the Enchanted Ruby bolts to no longer downscale the damage they do with the latter hits. The first three hits remain unchanged at 20-100%, 10-50%, 10-50% ability damage respectively.

  • Any additional hits, as a result of the Caroming perk have been toned to 5-15% ability damage, down from 10-50%.
  • Enchanted Ruby bolts will no longer scale their damage down when triggered as part of Greater Ricochet.

Instability

The Staff of Armadyl's special attack - Instability.

  • Restored the ability for auto attacks critical hits to fire off extra spell casts.
  • Fixed an issue where the extra spell cast from the staff was doing offhand damage if you were using dual-wielded weapons.
  • Extra spell casts can now only fire off if the critical hit is on the player's main target.

Those of you who haven’t yet received your Guardian’s Gift have until August 24th to log-in and do so. It’s claimed automatically, so there’s no need to faff about with forms and whatnot – just log-in, and you’ll receive your gift. You can use this gift later.

As a reminder, this is our way of saying thank you for your patience during the Log-in Lockout back in April and making things right for those of you who were affected. The Guardian’s Gift gets you access to loads of useful wishes to help you make up for lost time, so it’s well worth picking up!

Find out more here.

Ninja Strike 25: Action Bars

  • Added two free Action Bar Presets for members, bringing the total to 15.
  • Action Bar Presets can now be named in a similar fashion to Bank Presets.
    • This option can be found in the Action Bars submenu in Settings

  • Renamed various instances of ‘actionbar’ in the Settings interface to ‘Action Bar’.
  • Players can also save the toggle states of their additional action bars with custom interface layouts.
    • This will only apply to layouts saved after today’s update

  • The main Action Bar’s minimised and maximised states can now be saved with custom interface layouts.
  • The ‘Setup Action Bar’ option has been renamed to ‘Auto-setup Action Bar’ on desktop and ‘Auto-setup Revolution Action Bar’ on mobile, for clarity.
    • A new setting has also been added which toggles a confirmation option before auto-setup of Action Bars

  • Action Bars no longer use numbered wording such as ‘secondary’ or ‘quinary’, and will instead be called ‘Additional Action Bar #’.
    • Also changed all mentions of ‘Primary Action Bar’ to ‘Main Action Bar’ for consistency
    • The Action Bar Presets 1-15 are now correctly called Action Bar Preset 1-15 across the game.
    • Specified that the keybinds for switching Action Bar Presets are only for the Main Action Bar
    • Added line breaks to the Action Bar Keybind settings within the Keybinding interface

  • Added more descriptive text to various settings and options within the Action Bar Binding settings.
  • Fixed an issue where the max hitpoints figure would not show if the player had five digits of hitpoints and the Primary Action Bar was compacted horizontally.

Elder God Wars Dungeon - The Nodon Front:

  • HOTFIX - The change to Kerepac's time thread tear which removed the ability to stand under the boss to mitigate the attack has been reverted due to feedback.

User interfaces

  • Interface tutorials for the bank, shop, smelting and smithing interfaces now only occur when a player triggers them from the help button for the interface or during the paths in Burthorpe/Taverley.

  • PC and Steam users that install a fresh client or have recently cleared their cache will now see a Terms and Conditions popup on first loadup.
  • Players will now be prompted to enter a valid date of birth when logging into the game if they haven't already done so.

Burthorpe Path

  • Fixed an issue where you would be unable to purchase any herblore achievement capes while considered to be on the burthorpe path.
  • Fixed an issue where leveling up during the Burthorpe path system would reset your action bar.
  • Fixed an issue where players would not be able to obtain outfit fragments while considered to be on the Burthorpe path.

This Week In RuneScape: Fixes Galore & Senntisten Archaeology

After a week's break, we're eager to update you on all the goings-on in Gielinor. This week, we're kicking off Double XP LIVE in style and we've also got a timely heads-up about a new piece of content you'll definitely want to dig into. Just click the banners below to see the details.

Those of you who’ve helped Azzanadra re-open the lost city of Senntisten will soon be able to dig a little deeper into its history – literally! From August 16th you’ll be able to explore an all-new Archaeology microsite right in the heart of the former Zarosian capital. Earn more lore than you can shake a spade at, uncover a few new mysteries and earn some shadowy rewards.

You’ll need at least 60 Archaeology to get started in Senntisten, and the site’s myriad wonders should carry you all the way to level 67.

What kind of wonders, you ask? Here’s a list:

  • Six new excavation spots spread across four distinct sites
  • A new section of the city
  • 18 new artefacts to restore
  • Eight new collections, and a new collector named Eblis
  • Three new mysteries containing a number of lorebooks
  • Four stained glass windows to repair on-site for Crafting XP
  • Five new research tasks
  • One new relic
  • And loads of achievements!

But hold your horses – before you go rushing off to start training in preparation, let’s take a closer look at that there relic, shall we?

The newest relic is Aurelius' Mask, which will grant you all the benefits of the ‘Mobile’ perk. For 50 Energy, you’ll get a 50% reduction on the cooldown for movement abilities like Surge or Barge. The catch is that you won’t generate Adrenaline for using those abilities as you would normally – but it’s still a great boon for skillers trying to get around Gielinor quickly!

To get your hands on Aurelius' Mask, you’ll need to complete the ‘Secrets of the Inquisition’ mystery. Thinking caps at the ready!

Recently, we attempted to lower the cost of use for Erethdor’s Grimoire by introducing the pages as drops in the Creatures of the Lost Grove Slayer Task – but it didn’t have the effect we intended. We’ve heard your feedback, and made the following changes:

  • Solak now has a 100% chance to drop Torn Grimoire Pages, up from 25%.
  • As a result, players will no longer be able to roll a 50% chance to get two pages in one drop.
  • Added the item Cluster of Torn Grimoire Pages, a stack of 25 Pages with a 1/200 drop chance.

You’ll need level 60 Archaeology (or higher) to explore Senntisten, and 92 Slayer to take on the dragonkin of The Nodon Front. If only there was some kind of super-helpful Double XP event running to help you catch up on your skilling...

Oh wait, there is! Double XP LIVE is active until August 16th, just in time to beef up your Archaeology skill – or indeed, any other skill you care to train!

For those of you who’re new to Double XP LIVE, it’s very simple: across the ten days of the event, you’ll have 48 hours of Double XP time to spend. You can blast through it all in one weekend, take things slow and steady, or even pause the timer and take a breather in-game.

RuneScape members will get 100% of the Double XP buff, whereas free-to-play adventurers will only receive 20%.

Learn more about Double XP LIVE here!
