We have a new update for you all. Plenty of fixes and improvements here for you to jump on board with!
When the boat runs aground, it was teleported to some nearby position with sufficient depths that the server located for you. Now the boat keeps track of its own positions and when you press "help me please" after you've run aground, the boat is teleported back in its footsteps.
When the camera was in orbit mode, changing the angle to look up from below the waves would not only limit the camera to stay above the water, but also move the camera closer without zooming in. This is now fixed so the camera stays above the waves but the distance to the boat doesn't change.
When the camera is in orbit mode, the focus point can now be moved with the WASD/arrow keys and by dragging the mouse while holding down the right mouse button.
When the camera is moved away from the boat, it will be detached from the boat and can then move around freely.
The World edits are ordered on publication date so that the terrain heights from the latest edit will overrule earlier edits for the same region.
Only published World edits are now applied. In the previous version published Word edits by other users + all your own world edits were applied, but this was confusing.
The 2 featured races that are shown in the main menu, will now also contain user-organized races.
Tall buildings were rendered behind the sky layer
There were background processes that downloaded detailed maps, while they could use an already downloaded low resolution map instead.
The size of the wait cursor has been reduced and it will appear less frequent

Hey Pioneers,
Just to let you know, we have fixed a couple of issues with the World Editor.

When an OSM building was selected to be replaced by a user-created 3D model, the building was not always removed.
The select panel, with a list of OSM objects is now ordered on the distance to the placed 3D object.

Sailaway Update v1.1.0 - Help shape the Sailaway world!
Hey Pioneers,
Get ready to set sail and create your own exciting new environments.
Richard has been hard at work on a new tool for Sailaway that will allow players to help refine the details of the Sailaway world. He wrote about some of these challenges in more detail here: https://www.sailawaysimulator.com/2018/05/04/world-editing/
This tool not only allows players to edit height map data for the game but it also allows new models to be added to the world for players to enjoy. Richard has written a blog about how the tool works here: https://www.sailawaysimulator.com/2018/09/21/adding-a-lighthouse/

Sailaway Update V1.0.12 - A new boat and some fixes!
Hey Pioneers!
It’s been awhile but hopefully what I have to share today is worth the wait. First off, big news, it’s a new boat! A beautiful 32' Offshore Racer with hydrofoils, inspired by the Figaro Beneteau 3.
We’ve also fixed a boatload of bugs and as some you may already noted we’ve made a change to leave the offline sailing penalty in the players hands. Now the organizer of the event is in control whether that penalty is on or off.
Full Patch notes
Added the new hydrofoil 32' Offshore Racer.
Changed routines for particles, floatation, boat friction and boat stability to accommodate hydrofoils.
Boat names were sometimes partially occluded by the hull of the boat.
Small bugs in displaying lines that are being controlled.
The list of lines to be controlled with the Q/E keys no longer shows trim lines for sails that aren't raised except their halyard or furl line).
Helping hand button no longer pulls lines of sails that aren't raised.
Helping hand now says: Easing genoa halyard from 100 to 0% to make the genoa more round.
Improved autofocus feature.
Saving and restoring the size of the navigation window sometimes resulted in wrong sizes and wrong positions.
Extended the theoretical global sailing area from S80 - N80 degrees to S89 - N89 degrees.
The penalty for offline sailing in long distance races and challenges can now be set by the organizer of the event.
The color of foils were not copied onto the boat when a Steam workshop item was applied.
We are still working away hard on the map editor and we’ll giving you more information on how you can influence the direction of this in an upcoming update.
Sailaway Update V1.0.09 - Sharing your voyages with ease!
Hello Pioneers!
Since our last update opened up challenges to everyone, there have been plenty created which has meant we needed to divide these up a bit better to make things easier to find. In addition, we have also made it possible to share voyages from your library with other sailors so if you have a good trip saved now is the time to share it with others!
This update includes the following fixes/improvements:
The Challenges menu is now split into Official, Long, Medium and Short challenges.
The Races menu is now split into Official (upcoming only), User Created (upcoming only) and Past Races.
Both the Challenge and Race menus now show the total distance of the course.
Both the Challenge, Race and Voyages menus now have a search box.
Saved voyages can now be shared; shared voyages will now appear in the Voyages menu under Activities.
Voyages will also show their total distance
The shader for the map and trim tab of the navigation window has been modified to support older versions of DirectX and OpenGL, this should allow older hardware to see the previous map update changes that were made.
Anchored boats should now stay in place.
Player created badges should now display properly on players boats.
Skill level preset has now been moved to its correct place under 'Settings for all your boats'.
Adjusted the offline sailing routines so that online sailing is more worthwhile.
Work is ongoing on a new boat and we can't wait to share some more details on this in the near future!
Sailaway Update V1.0.08 - Player Created Badges & Challenges!
Hello Pioneers!
We have always wanted to provide more options for players to make their own mark on Sailaway, the first steps were with player created races and liveries and from today we have expanded this a bit further with more to come in the future.
This update includes the following fixes/improvements:
Players can now create their own challenges, like the race system before you can access this creation via: https://www.sailawaysimulator.com/player-created-events/
These challenges will have their own leaderboards.
Players can now upload their own badges to be given as rewards for both races and challenges.
Fixed the bug where the text in the stats tab in the user profile was overlapping.
Fixed a bug that caused some new users accounts to not get created correctly.
Fixed a rare bug with data importing to the backend servers.
In case you missed them, Richard has recently published a couple of blogs on some of the things he has been working on recently:
Sailaway Update V1.0.07 - Improved Nordic Folkboat, teleportation and other improvements!
Hello Pioneers!
Ever since we released the Nordic Folkboat we have had lots of requests to allow it to have more usable lines so this update brings just this.
Along with the updated version of this boat there is a raft of other improvements and fixes which should make voyages smoother.
This update includes the following fixes/improvements:
<*>As often requested we have added a fully trimable version of the Nordic Folkboat.
<*>Moved to DNS names instead of IP address to connect to the Sailaway servers, because some internet providers seem to block the direct use of IP addresses.
<*>Added stronger and more sudden wind gusts.
<*>Increased the length of ocean waves.
<*>Increased the resolution for searching for a teleport location with sufficient water depth.
<*>When searching for sufficient water depth to teleport to, the game used to trace back along the heading of the boat. This has now been changed to trace back along the line from the boat to the new target coordinates, which makes more sense.
<*>Reduced minimum needed depth for teleportation.
<*> Added extra time before boat will run aground after teleportation.
<*>The map now shows the water depth under the cursor.
<*>Adjusted new user login screen to make it less confusing.
<*>When using the Q/E keys to loop through the available trim lines, a list of the lines is shown to make the order in which they are selected more logical.
<*>When orbiting the camera around the boat, clicking the hull would sometimes select a point on the opposite side of the boat.
<*>Selecting a line with the mouse is now much smoother, also in stormy weather.
<*>Selecting the Main traveller, Jib sheet or Jib leadcar on the inactive side of the boat is no longer possible.
<*>When you stop pulling a line, the camera goes back to it's original state and now also restores the camera rotation from before the rope was selected instead of resetting it.
<*>Increased sensitivity of the weather helm indicator.
<*>The game now gives a message when Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite is used, which is not supported.
<*>When the user's graphics memory is 512MB or less, the game will automatically switch to the lowest graphics quality.
