Update 4 teasers and showcases

Hey everyone!

We've been super hard at work on Update 4 coming to Experimental sometime™ early March this year and there are a lot of new cool features coming!

We've been showcasing and teasing some of the upcoming features on our YouTube channel and if you're curious and want to learn more here's a quick summary of some of the features coming in Update 4!

Tier 8

Tier 8 is coming in Update 4! With it comes a bunch of new parts and machines, but in order for us to make tier 8 as juicy as possible we need to do a few changes as to how tier 7 is balanced. Jace talks about these changes in this video.

New Parts

There's a bunch of cool new parts coming in tier 8 such as packaged sulfuric acid and alumina solutions, Aluminium casing, and the eluded Plutonium Waste - there's also some new parts for project assembly such as Magnetic Field Generator, Thermal Propulsion Rocket, and the Assembly Director System. You can learn more about these parts in this video.

The Blender

One of the changes to tier 7 is the production chain for Nuclear Power. We've haven't revealed fully yet exactly what changes we're going to roll out but we're essentially going to expand the nuclear production lines. One building that plays a big part in this change is The Blender and we teased this building in the following video.

Gases

There's going to be gases coming in Update 4, or specifically Nitrogen gas, and with it comes a set of machines specifically used for extracting gas which are Resource Well Pressurizers and Resource Well Extractors. You can learn more about these in the following video.

New Traversal Equipment

And finally, this week we revealed a new tool used for traversal in the game. I won't say too much about it but you can check out the teaser video for that here. 👀

Engine Upgrade Hotfix 0.3.8.1

Hi Pioneers!

Thank you all for your feedback so far, we have been reading your posts over at our QA site, https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/ We are aware of some of the issues you are having and we are already working on fixing a lot of them.

We also noticed that a lot of you seem to be experiencing crashes when launching the game or when loading a save, we are investigating those issues but, in the meantime, you can verify your game files and try updating or removing all mods, as they might not be currently compatible with our current engine upgrade in the experimental version.

To verify your game files on Steam:

Right click the game > Properties > Verify integrity of game files…

To verify your game on Epic:

Click on “…” next to the game title > Verify

This process might take quite a while depending on your PC and it might re-download a lot of missing files, which might also take a while depending on your Internet connection.

There’s more fixes to come, as always, thank you for playing and for your support <3

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed some of the most prominent crashes and added more logs to troubleshoot others
  • Fixed Fluid indicator UI not displaying properly in the Fluid Buffer
  • Fixed a few Menus clipping to the side of the screen

4.25 Unreal Engine upgrade for Satisfactory (EXPERIMENTAL)

Hi Pioneers!

Hello everybody! I know a lot of you were waiting for this so let’s get started.

Today we’re releasing the 4.25 Unreal Engine upgrade for Satisfactory to Experimental. With this come a lot of cool new optimisations and lots of other stuff under the hood, but it might introduce a lot of unexpected bugs. So, we’re launching this on Experimental first so we can fix these issues before we release this to everyone in our Early Access version.

What can you expect from the engine upgrade? We have made a lot of optimisation changes both to the game in general and multiplayer specifically: Players and enemies should feel less choppy and more responsive as a result from all the network, general bandwidth, and engine optimisations.

The way the eye adaption algorithm worked has also changed, so the game might be a little bit darker or brighter in some places. We have a temporary fix for this which should cover most situations and have also added a Gamma option slider to further adjust brightness if necessary.

If you want to learn more about the Engine Upgrade, you can watch this video made by Jace explaining some more stuff:
https://youtu.be/0kmDHBWf640

Before you dive right into the update please remember to BACKUP YOUR SAVES!

While we always aim to make sure your saves are compatible with any future updates, we cannot ensure the same for backwards compatibility with older versions, so please remember that if you play on Experimental, save and then decide to return to the Early Access version some issues may happen.

There are quite a few bugs we already know of and are already working on fixing as soon as possible, however please let us know if you are experiencing any issues or have any feedback over at our QA site https://questions.satisfactorygame.com/. We read your posts over there daily and your reports will help us fix things as soon as we can :)

ENGINE UPGRADE

  • Updated to Unreal Engine version 4.25

OPTIMISATION

  • The maximum bandwidth of the Network Quality Setting values has been increased
  • General Bandwidth reduction
o This includes optimisations to the general bandwidth consumption of Minimap/HUD location data transfer, Replication Graph optimizations for Conveyor Belts/Lifts, Building Inventory replication and many other minor replication changes.

QUALITY OF LIFE

  • Added a Gamma slider in the Options Menu
  • [EXPERIMENTAL] DirectX12 can now be forced in the options menu.
o Please note that this can be very unstable and cause crashes and we do not currently have any plans to actively support it, we are including it for testing purposes.

FICS*MAS Hotfix 0.3.7.6 - Patch Notes

Hi Pioneers!

Apparently 2020 still haunts us and didn’t want to let us go without some issue into the new year so the FICS*MAS event ended prematurely on the 1st. So we’re pushing a hotfix to remedy this.

The FICS*MAS event should™ still be going on until Jan 18th.

Also, it seems like there’s some issue with steam’s patching system as some games act a little wonky after updates. If you’re having issues try verifying the game files by right clicking the game in your library and selecting properties > local files > verify integrity of game files...

Oh, and Happy New Year!

BUG FIXES

  • Fixed issue where the FICS*MAS event ended prematurely
