Patch 0.1.33

This mini patch fixes a few bugs while we work on some larger gameplay changes.

Fixes:


  • Fixed several client crashes.
  • Fixed a server crash.
  • Fix anti-aliasing + ultra setting.

Patch 0.1.32

Balance:


  • Bunker: Tweaked this map to reduce incidence of boring stalemates, we'll be keeping an eye out to see if more is needed. Removed the far NW and far SE redstone mines, giving 2 expansions per team instead of 3. Lowered the height of the natural defensive walls around each base.
  • 15% movement slow now also applies while charging or spinning up a ranged weapon (in addition to while zooming/scoping).


Changes and Additions:


  • We added automatic crash reporting.
  • We now show the remaining health of your killer on the death dialog.
  • We now show healers and siege icons on loadout minimap.


Fixes:


  • Overlay not clearing fixed (fix some sticky dialogs and missing errors).
  • Music restarting fixed (I think).
  • Server message spam fixed.
  • Auto detecting resolution scale fixed.
  • Middle mouse zoom / bind bugs fixed.

Patch 0.1.31

Engine Updated:


  • We updated our engine to Unreal 4.12 (from 4.11).
  • This update contains network improvements, foliage scalability, and anti-speedhack fixes.
  • This was a big change, so there may be a few things to fix this week.


Balance:


  • Sixth sense now reveals nearby enemies for allies too.
  • Humans are no longer slowed by simply having a ranged weapon selected (was 10% on most weapons, 30% on marksman's bow).
  • All units are now slowed by 15% while zooming/scoping with a ranged weapon.


Changes and Additions:


  • Many map elements are now hidden for commander view, allowing better vision of the battlefield in; Morning, Bunker.
  • Added some dedicated Newbie AI Commander servers, can only join these with <= 20 games played.
  • Greek localization added.
  • Polish localization updated.
  • Improved tooltips for many items, e.g. explaining stacking rules and explaining what the disruptor actually does.
  • Added network error for d/cing from server.
  • Added helper messages about muting players.
  • Added helper messages about votes.
  • Added in new roof to Morning, touched up on a few materials.
  • Updated post-processing effects for Eden.
  • Added melee attack swoosh effects.
  • Added more detailed death event log.
  • Increased default network bandwidth from 10kb/s to 20kb/s, added an option for this under gameplay.
  • Voice lines from the communication wheel or quick spots are now spatialized if the player is nearby.
  • Added impeach progress messages to chat.
  • Updated Eden center area props.
  • Updated Beast first person ranged weapon animations.
  • Added Foliage scalability settings.
  • Officer aura now has an effect. Health regen buffed from 2/tick to 5/tick. AI Commanders now assign officers.
  • Added look at me animation to votes.

  • Losthills rock collision fixed so projectiles don't blow up in thin air.
  • Fix for chat muting not working sometimes.
  • Stairs collision fixed on Snowblind.
  • Fix for overtime victory going to a random team.
  • Chat backer is always enabled in Snowblind until we get outlines working.
  • Fix commander info height.
  • Hide mini stamina if dead.
  • Fix for death dialog sometimes not knowing what killed you.

  • Fixes for AI commanders not respecting warmup takeover time.

  • Made commander vote stat data more reliable.

  • Fixed several bugs with removing assigned officers when players leave or swap teams.

  • Fix ant trails for practice with bots games.
  • Fix for chat scrolling when wrapped lines are visibile.
  • Fix spawn building not being replicated to commander (was breaking spawn preview locations).
  • Fixed bow and discharger equip animations.

  • Fixed that weird global sound that played when a relocator failed.

  • Revert change that played melee attack anims in predicted reference frame so that other player's impact effect and animation line up.
  • Sound spam fix when killing buildings during practice with bots.
  • Fix resuming from menu if you are both queued to spawn and the match has ended.

What are we working on?:


We're upgrading our engine from unreal 4.11 to 4.12, our best guess is we will be releasing this on Tuesday, along with some more fixes and improvements of course, including:

Hotfixes:


Update: Hotfix deployed to fix crashing after joining a match.
Update2: Hotfix deployed to fix a second crash after joining a match.

Changes and Additions:


  • Improved human fps equip animations.
  • Updated animations for: grenade launcher, medpack, legionnaire, rocket launcher, pulse cannon.
  • Added "new patch" alerts.
  • "Commander please prioritize" requires a shift click now to avoid misclick spam.
  • Team select join buttons disable if you would not be able to join that team, no more spamming to get the "would be imbalanced" message.
  • Research tips improved for characters.
  • Big spawn map on Loadout now has full gameplay information (same as FPS).
  • Loadout minimap now shows commander orders and pings, plus marked enemies.
  • Added healer and siege icons to the RTS minimap.
  • Gun Game: progress is now only set back every 2 deaths so the game moves forward faster. Also added increased health and stamina regen. Fixed early match end.
  • Default game list sort is now 'has players + sort by lowest ping'.
  • Default off hide empty servers.
  • Polish language updated.
  • Icons updated for some items.

Changes and Additions


  • Increased default Casual player count to 16v16 (from 12v12)
  • Added item action queuing so a quick swap and click will use the item reliably
  • Item equip delays reduced to 100ms
  • Weapons fire will induce a maximum of 200ms unequip time
  • Block once again resets the attack sequence
  • Practice with bots has mode options now
  • Updated most weapon icons
  • Brought back auto attack bind by request

New Mode: Gun Game


This patch introduces the first bonus game mode “Gun Game”.
  • This mode is a free-for-all race to the finish as players change weapons with each kill
  • As this is Savage, Melee will always also be available
  • Deaths in this mode will set you back 1 weapon progress and change your Race
  • This option will occasionally be available via the end match map vote
  • Tell us what you think about this bonus mode right here on the community forum! Also, let us know if you think of a better name.

There are a few bugs but we're ready for some initial testing. The bonus modes are a personal side project of mine so don't worry about them taking time away from Savage :D

  • Reworked human siege movement: should no longer completely fail sometimes, has fps independent turn rates, fixed cases where client mispredicted movement

  • Auto run will now not engage if W is down, and will cancel if W/S are pressed

  • AI Commander Casual Mode servers added: these servers are intended for new players to learn the game without significant differences in Commander skill leading to unfair games
  • Commander can now hold both mouse buttons and drag to quickly rotate the camera
  • Players now only get the in-world onscreen order for the nearest commander alert
  • Players see a brief ant trail when they are issued a direct order or an alert is placed nearby
  • You can now double click a spawn point to attempt to spawn there immediately

Patch 0.1.23

New Map: Morning


Fans of the original Savage will recognise this classic map. Morning features destructible walls and intense close-combat in the confined center path, and wide open combat along the longer side paths. Which way will you go?

Changes and Additions


  • Set up sound occlusion, e.g. buildings and terrain will dampen sounds that occur behind them
  • Increased sound falloff distances across the board. Will keep an eye (ear) on this.
  • Characters grunt when taking damage
  • Updated building icons
  • Allow team size modification when hosting Official Casual games
  • Updated coil rifle scope textures
  • End game map vote will pull a random selection of options from the available map pool
  • AI Commander will research Stronghold level 3 before 3rd tech building
  • Updated Chaplain Forcefield sound effects
  • Adjusted Legionnaire melee attack 2 timing
  • Rearrange research/buildings/buffs/tower upgrades so that the tech lines are always in a consistent order (elec-mag-chem, strata-fire-entropy)

  • Death tips don’t repeat in the same match
  • Fix many sound spatialization bugs e.g. sounds were playing in 2d when they should have been playing from a location in world
  • Spire impacts are less loud
  • Launcher impact was missing attenuation/spatialization
  • Hide and disable continuous attack bind, it's redundant now - you can bind primary action to mouse 4 if you want both

Patch 0.1.22

Changes and Additions



Melee
  • Can now switch to a ranged weapon or item during the flurry time of attacks instead of needing to wait for the end of the attack.
  • Block no longer breaks the attack sequence.
  • Add a flurry time to the final attack in the sequence that can only be used to block or switch to a weapon or item.
  • Reduce flurry time of Legionnaire's first attack from 1.333s to 1.0s
  • Holding down left mouse button will now continuously attack instead of needing to press it once for every attack.


General
  • Added info about in-game levelling to the How-To / Learn sections

  • Fix muting player so it also mutes VOIP
  • Replaced the commander screen edge scrolling with a version using mouse position instead of hovering buttons, this should fix any edge cases (heh) where the scroll wasn't detected.
  • Fix incinerator tooltip to use new projectile count
  • Fixed the falling through world kill box for Eden, Bunker, Lost Hills
  • Fix for sound channel settings not being remembered
  • Free things are always free, even if your balance is negative. Should fix some bad Loadout states
  • Fix pawn on player state not always being reset when detaching from controller (caused some crashes and spawn bugs)
  • Fix a few server crashes
