This week we put Savant - Ascent up for a 50% sale here on Steam, and our artist Simon(who also draws Savant's album covers) made a new poster to commemorate this!
Alot of people have been asking whether there will be more content updates for Savant - Ascent, and while it's tempting to continue adding new ideas to the game, we are currently working full-time on our other project, Owlboy.
We've only just got started making games, and we've got a ton of projects coming, so feel free to keep up with us through our official website DPadStudio!
We hope you enjoy playing our games as much as we enjoy working on them!

The Void Update! Official Free Expansion Releases on 22nd October!
New expansion teaser! Planned Release Oct. 22nd
Hallo everyone,
Last weekend we presented Savant at Raptus, and left the audience with a teaser of what's to come for Savant - Ascent.
We'll be announcing the official release-date soon, meanwhile, here's some additional info on the game:
Will the expansion be free to download? - Yes, all the new content will be free for those who already own Savant - Ascent. This is because we love the players(you guys). You're the ones who's been making this game a success. We've collected the numbers, soon surpassing 300.000 copies of the game sold. We're thinking this is cause for celebration and new content worthy of the players!
What will the expansion add to the game? - A looong list of things! We were originally gonna update the game slowly over the weekends, but it turned out way bigger than we thought, and we decided to bundle it all up in one go: Here are just some of the improvements:
New level + boss showdown
New soundtrack and ability
Stage selection screen
Full controller support
In-game achievement screen and progress tracking(cds collected etc.)
Will this be the final version of the game? - Maybe, maybe not. According to Savant lore, there's still one chapter left of the Alchemist's story. We might tell it at some point, although most of our time these days is dedicated to Owlboy, so we can't promise anything. After Owlboy is done, we will most likely jump onto other projects, and there might be a chance one of those will be Savant related(Simon and Savant has created a universe we can literally make 100s of games from).
So, you're working on Owlboy still? When is it coming out? - Don't ask.
For most recent updates, feel free to follow D-Pad Studio on Twitter.
Minor update(v1.39.99.2)
Ok, second part of our weekend bug eradication is live!
This version makes further fixes to shaders.
You can now set shaders to: advanced, basic or off. Basic shaders will do a simpler shading on things like enemies and Savant's powerups.
Advanced shaders will require more resources out of your graphics card but will perform some advanced color swapping on Savant's cape when it is powered up(if your graphics card does not support this, it won't change color at all).
I didn't get the chance to check out the possibility of adding Trading Cards, but will look into next weekend, as well as keep an eye out in the community for additional bug fixes/suggestions.
All the best
~ Jo, D-Pad
Minor update(v1.39.99.1)
I'm back from sick leave, and I've been looking at the bug reports coming in, which I will try to sort out during weekends when we're off from development on Owlboy.
This fixes a couple of things:
+ Added keyboard layout support for AZERTY(commonly used in France/Belgium) and QZERTY(commonly used in Italy). You can find these settings in the options menu(press the cog in the lower left corner of the title screen.)
+ Hopefully I was able to make enough changes to the shader so that it compiles on more systems now. I will continue to work on the shader till it works properly.
Please don't hasitate to report bugs in the community, I'm reading through them once I'm free, and will hopefully be able to sort most of them out within a few weeks, working the weekends.
Ask us anything(AMA) on reddit!
Wonder what's next for Savant - Ascent, how we're working on it, or maybe need some tips on how to play the game? Head over to reddit today, and we'll answer all you're questions:
Allright everyone, the update is live! Press the special button in the lower-right corner at the main menu for a more Go(a)ty experience while playing the game. We're sorry in advance.
Now, for a couple tweaks that are actually useful: - Support for additional languages(translations will be added very soon).
- Screen tearing issues should have been fixed.
- Further balance to gameplay difficulty.
- Optimization for low-end computers(if game is running slow, try adjusting graphics options).
The new enemy type will later be added as a standard enemy, but for now, it's there just for fun.
The update is live for Windows first, Mac and Linux will follow.
