REMEDIUM Act 2 - New Content Released Today!

We are thrilled to announce the release of the first content update of Act 2 for REMEDIUM!

Today’s content update is the first stage in the full Act 2 release, including a new location, new mutant types, boss and new story content being made available for players to experience. A further two locations, enemy types, bosses and additional story arcs will be released over the coming weeks to complete the full Act 2 launch.



We also pleased to announce that there will be NO price increase for REMEDIUM following today’s content update. The price will only increase when we are happy with the content and quality of the game in general and Act 2 in particular. For now, the focus is delivering the most polished and content-complete version of the game during its Steam Early Access phase.

Since the launch of Act 1, we’ve been busy gathering your feedback and introducing many quality-of-life improvements and new features, many of which were requested by players already active on the Steam Early Access release. Some of these quality-of-life improvements include the balancing of battles to make weak enemies more dynamic, a reworked dash movement, new enemy spawn mechanics, improved VFX, blood effects and HUD, as well as many other cosmetic enhancements to the game world. We will continue to work with the community on today’s update to improve and polish the upcoming content ahead of the full Act 2 release and extend our thanks for the support and feedback on REMEDIUM’s Early Access launch so far and look forward to further collaboration throughout the development journey.

Following directly on from the devastating boss battle at the end of Act 1, REMEDIUM Act 2 opens a new chapter in the hunt for a cure to the Grey plague and to your very survival in the world ravaged by hordes of mutants and chimeras. Armed only with your journal, you must navigate the snowy mountain paths and survive the onslaught of warring tribes of mutants spread across three village locations. In each new location, the blood thirsty mutants are protected by a terrifying and unique boss, which must be defeated in order to unveil the path to the cure for the disease and the survival of the remaining humans.

REMEDIUM Act 2 features:



  • Act 2 will introduce three new locations with unique mutant types and terrifying bosses.
  • Today’s update unveils the new Fort location along with new mutants and boss type - Despite their beast-like looks these mutants wear armor and use human weapons like clubs, spears and even mortars. They inhabit a ruined fortress nestled into the mountainside protected by a deadly new boss. Mutant types: Grunt, Pikeman, Gunner. Boss: Huntress. Two more locations (Mine and Abbey), mutant types and bosses, will complete Act 2 and be released soon.
  • Continuation of the intriguing storyline of the hero’s deadly journey.
  • Players can craft new parts for their weapons (to further customize them and deal different types of damage) with the new reagents found in Act 2.
  • Updated visuals and player accessibility for an enhanced gameplay experience.
  • An improved upgrade system where players can now spend resources to become stronger.
  • Dash movement and Almalgams use have been split for greater accessibility.
  • Language support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, with further enhancements to be added.

Speedrun contest!

Hey Scholars!

We have prepared an excellent competition for you as part of the speedrunning of the game. Can you complete Scholar of the Arcane Arts in under 30 minutes?



A total of three winners are planned. Participants who complete the game the fastest from the moment the hero is loaded in the starting village until the statistics screen is shown after the titles will receive:


  1. First place: $100 and steam keys for the games REMEDIUM, REMEDIUM: Sentinels, 9 Monkeys of Shaolin, Unusual Findings and Tetragon ($100 + five games).
  2. Second place: steam keys for the games REMEDIUM, REMEDIUM: Sentinels, 9 Monkeys of Shaolin (three games in total).
  3. Third place: steam key of REMEDIUM game.


To join you need:

  • register on the speedrun website (https://www.speedrun.com/);
  • record a video of the game being played within the “any%” rules;

The cat-tastic playable prologue for Cats on Duty is now available to download for free!



It’s a purr-fectly hilarious and action-packed blend of real-time strategy, tower defense, and match-3 mechanics, where heavily armed battle-hardened cat veterans of rodent skirmishes and yarn tangles take charge in defending their homeland (and litter boxes) against the forces of great evil!

The Steam Prologue contains the whole first chapter of Cats on Duty spread over 10 captivating levels, each showcasing a unique challenge and certain game feature. There is even a minigame, and a full boss fight to get your claws into, to prepare you for what’s to come in the final game.

Here you can also try out the co-op mode with your friends or family. One player focuses on the tile-matching field of the game screen to win the food needed to recruit and upgrade your battle cats while the other builds an unbreakable line of defense. Co-op mode can be easily activated or deactivated from the start menu or as you play.

With ‘cat’ and ‘kitten’ difficulty levels available, you can adjust game difficulty on the fly should you find the current level too hard or too easy for your skills or mood. You will also be able to carry over your Prologue save files into the main game so you can either continue from where you left off or reset the game progress in the settings menu and start over!

UNIQUE ITEMS AND CHARACTER BUILDS


Loot and Craft: As an alchemist you wear no armor and wield no sword, but you rain down fire on your enemies. Find flasks with unique properties in the wilderness or craft them at your workbench. In deck-building fashion you create a compilation of flasks which you randomly draw from.

Unique Skill System: In BattleJuice Alchemist, your flasks are your skills. Every flask can be used the normal way and at times in a supercharged, "jucified" way for stronger effects. Some flasks have powers attached to them that drastically change their effects when used, which allows you to develop your own playstyle.

EXPLORE A DARK WORLD


Procedural Landscapes, Hand-crafted Towns: The world of BattleJuice Alchemist is separated into vast levels of procedural landscape. Every valley, sea, river, mountain, building, stone, tree and item is placed by a unique algorithm. This allows you to continue exploring after you completed the main story. Quest locations are still hand-crafted to tell compelling stories.

Dark Lands to Discover: You are influenced by daytime and weather effects and so are your enemies. But they are also buffed by the evermore spawning demons’ presence. Find dark altars to hold their influence at bay and discover many other secrets.

ENGAGING COMBAT


Classic isometric ARPG action: Fight your enemies from afar in classic top down view. Throw explosive or freezing flasks at them, prepare ambushes of explosive barrels. Use the “Frog Hop” flask to jump away from danger or right into close combat.

Close Combat with Bullet-time: Enter close combat with an enemy, where you can interact hands on by dodging or using smoke flasks to avoid being hit. Manage your resources and flasks during these intense one on one battles against your awe-inspiring enemies from the Crossroads.

Patch 0.3 Lyric Edition

Hey Scholars! I’m so excited to introduce the collectible card game into Scholar called Drifter! On top of that I’ve added a spell codex so you can keep track of all the wild combinations you’ve been making. There’s also a new npc, new buildings, a crafting minigame and plenty of secrets that have been added. This is one of the biggest updates to the game!

New Spells



Summon Zombie
Summon a zombie which will attack other monsters for you. It will decay and lose health over time.
This spell can be combined with others.



Lava
Shoot a trail of lava on the ground which will damage monsters over time.
This spell can be combined with others.



Angel of Mercy
Pay a blood sacrifice to spawn blades out of your soul.
This spell can be combined with others.

Whirlpool
This can only be found by beating a secret Miniboss.
This spell can be combined with others.



Spell Updates



Seren’s Falling Star can now be combined with Necromancy.

Scattershot can now be combined with Necromancy.

To-neis burst
Old damage scaling: damage = power level
New damage scaling: damage = 50% of power level.

Raincloud
Placement hitbox has been made smaller so it's easier to cast the spell in tight corridors.

New Card Game: Drifter



There is now a collectible card game called Drifter in Scholar! An NPC named Dewey has a chance to spawn in dungeons. Speak to Dewey and he’ll come back to Villa with you.



Dewey will teach you how to play Drifter. It’s a card game that involves summoning monsters on the field, and equipping the monsters with spell cards. After the tutorial you’ll be able to challenge each villager to a game of Drifter.



Dewey will also have a shop where he can sell you more spell cards.

Monster cards can only be found in dungeons. The following monsters have a chance of dropping their card after being defeated:

  • Flightless Dragon
  • Piety
  • Archolyte
  • Pujari

Gameplay Update



Dungeons have been shortened to encourage multiple runs. There is also a visual distinction between floors.

Spell Codex has been added. Press tab to open your spellbook and the bookmark for the codex will be at the top. As you use and combine spells the codex will fill itself out to explain to you exactly what is happening with each combination.



Spellbooks found in chests will always be an upgrade to its primary school of magic’s damage. It is no longer completely random.

You will randomly come across knights fighting in the dungeons. Try and help them and they’ll escort you to the exit!

Piles of leaves can now be lit on fire.

Altur’s shop dialogue has been updated to be easier to read when upgrading Cast Times.

Vera’s shop dialogue has been updated to tell you exactly what level spells you can block with your defensive spells with each upgrade.

The amount of zombies that Thnyx spawns to sacrifice into his acid bowl has been cut in half.

A Secret Miniboss has been added to the Water Domain.



Secrets are more likely to spawn during a NewGamePlus run. The chances of secrets spawning goes up with each loop of NewGamePlus.

If a monster is Invulnerable to damage their healthbar will turn blue after you attack them.

Deadwoods can drop wood upon death.

Defensive Spells Rework:



Previously defensive spells were strong against two schools of magic, weak against two schools of magic, and just good against its own school of magic. This is unneeded complexity, especially for new players. So moving forward defensive spells will be strong against three schools of magic (including its own), and weak against two schools of magic.

Example Icewall at level 5:

Old version can block
Level 14 Pyromancy and Necromancy
Level 10 Hydromancy
Can not block Geomancy or Aeromancy.

New version can block
Level 14 Pyromancy, Hydromancy and Necromancy
Can not block Geomancy or Aeromancy.


Town Upgrade



You can upgrade Abuela’s shop to level 3. This will allow you to refund up to 10 spells every time you visit the Villa.

New Buildings: Brick Oven, Sawmill



You can now build planks of wood and bricks in town. You’ll need to upgrade Abuela’s shop twice. Once you’ve done that she’ll add a quest on the town board to build a brick oven and a sawmill. Speaking to Dewey also unlocks the brick oven and sawmill.

Creating planks of wood and bricks involve a rhythm mini-game. If you play it successfully you will receive twice as many materials! There is no punishment for failing this mini-game.

Bug Fixes



Listen, we all love Abuela, but Vera wouldn’t stop talking about her. I fixed it so she’ll mention Abuela once and then go back to her normal talking points.

Raincloud was not telling you its upgraded damage properly. It now displays correctly in Vera’s shop.

Tremor properly states that it Instantcasts at level 12.

Abuela’s shop was only refunding currency based on the cast time level. This is fixed so she refunds based on both cast time, and power level.

Chests were showing the wrong stats if both options were a spell. This has been fixed!
