Sci-Fantasy Defence V9 - Physics Update

New



The update is aimed at close combat and encouraging more physical activity (including body and legs).

Weapon physics - now have weight and interact with other objects



New attack mechanics. Enemies no longer bite immediately, as before, without giving the opportunity to switch to close combat. Now they jump on the player's head before biting, which allows you to crouch or step aside in real life, increasing physical activity and giving various opportunities for counterattack (shoot during or after crouching, push into traps, etc.) with the passive effect Adrenaline Rush.


Adrenaline Rush - new passive effect that activates when an enemy jumps on you to bite. Slows down time, but also slows movement speed (but not weapon movement speed, while still retaining the effect of weight)

New weapon - bare fists. Just leave at least one weapon slot empty for use and hit enemies in slowmo.

New


Zombies know getting random buff

  • electric - creates EMP explosion after death, that deactivates near traps for 10 sec
  • poisoned - immune to poison and make damage to closest players after death
  • accelerated - high movement speed (can activate many traps if not killed in time)
  • steely - immunity to physical damage
  • telekinetic - immune to telekinesis/antigravity, throws nearby zombies in the direction of its movement upon death



Climbing. Added ropes to select a vantage point (for example, for building or shooting from above).


Climbing motion. Previously, it was only possible to move by sprinting when smooth locomotion was off, but now you can climb on the ground, capturing space and pulling towards. Useful if you experience motion sickness and/or want more physical activity.


Gesture based actions. Cast spells using gestures with the telekinesis gloves.

Improvements / Changes


Added flesh stat for enemy limbs. Now after poison/burning an active ragdoll skeleton will run for some time. This is per limb mechanic, so if only half of the body was under fire/poison, then half of the body will turn into a skeleton, not the whole body.

  • Slowmo activation moved from chest to wrists. Now need to bring wrists together and press the grab button to activate/deactivate the slow mode

  • New weapon: electro-balls, that repeats your hand movements on distance
  • New trap: chain, can be grabbed using telekinesis and using like a whipe, merges with other dynamic mechanisms (like bounce balls or grinders)
  • Added rope wires - enemies now can climb on ropes
  • Added spectator camera option (for content creators)

A major update that improves physics, mechanics and visual/sound effects. Also adds a more intuitive interface.

Sci-Fantasy Defence Update v1.7.0.0b Released

Added beta-branch of big Ragdoll Physics update. The main branch so far consists of animated characters with one hitbox as before. The new version is still in the process of reworking weapons, traps and optimization for interacting with ragdoll, but it's playable already. Main features in the new version:

  • new ragdoll physics instead of animations (chopping off limbs, hitboxes / colliders for each body part separately, instead of one common one)
  • foot tracking support (1-2 controllers required)
  • new zombie models
