I removed the Steam Workshop due to very low participation because it was honestly poorly done. If there is ever an SCP: Observer 2 or whatever, I will fix all the “flaws” of the first game, this includes not having full and customizable modding support.
Until then, I won't be providing any more updates to this game unless there are some game-breaking bugs.
Removed Steam Workshop + modding support
Improved controller navigation
Switched compilation method to IL2CPP
Version 2.0.2
Fixed softlock when winning a scenario while watching the security cameras
Version 2.0.1
Added changeable key binding for exiting cameras (default Q)
Fixed a bug that caused cameras to be unusable after the lights-out event in LC
SCP: Observer Anniversary Update
Greetings Survivors,
after a long period of inactivity, a new update I've been working on for the past few months is finally ready. This update aims to be a final overhaul of SCP: Observer, reworking most of the things I was unhappy with.
Some of the changes include a complete overhaul of the menu user interfaces as well as the modding system. Many of these changes are visual and you won't notice much difference in gameplay. Modded skins, however, now include more advanced parameters such as SCP speed or custom sounds.
Cheats and the console have also been improved. Updated cheats can be found in the "Cheats.txt" in the installation folder of SCP: Observer.
If you are interested in modding, you can find the instructions here. Following the guide is easier than before, but you still need a very basic understanding of the Unity editor.
You can now also play earlier versions of SCP: Observer, e.g. the version before the anniversary update or the first/second beta. To do this right-click on SCP: Observer in your Steam library -> Properties -> Betas -> Beta Participation. WARNING: Playing a different version will also affect your save file and you will not be able to use the Steam Workshop.
Thank you for playing SCP: Observer.
Version 1.8.4
There was a bug that caused the scenario achievements to only be granted when using cheats and not during normal play. You should receive all missed achievements except "Scenario 8" the next time you access the main menu. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Version 1.8.3
There is a Cheats.txt file in the game directory which contains all the cheat commands.
Added new console (F1)
Added more cheat codes
Removed old cheat system
Increased SCP-049 A.I. level in Official Scenarios
Fixed bug with SCPs getting stuck after killing an NPC
Fixed bug with SCP-173 being unable to kill an NPC
Fixed bug with getting "Scenario X" achievement when cheating
Fixed bug with Aika not having correct animations
Version 1.8.2
Updated modding instructions can be found here. Have fun modding!
Added separate SCP: Observer Tools application
Fixed some Mod Manager bugs
Version 1.8.1
I'm currently working on adding more configuration options like sound and speed for skins, but also on new possible mod types. Have fun modding and thanks for playing!
Improved modding documentation
Fixed some ui issues
Mod Manager now shows if Steam was not found
Version 1.8.0 - Steam Workshop, Endless Mode and QoL Improvements
Happy spooky month everyone,
SCP: Observer is back with a new update that includes many new additions and improvements. The full list of changes can be found below.
Steam Workshop
First of all, the Steam Workshop. You can now customize skins for featured SCPs and create your own to share with the community. The original plan was to allow the creation of custom maps and custom SCPs, but unfortunately that will not happen in this update.
To download a mod, simply go to the Steam Workshop for SCP: Observer and download anything you like. Then launch the game and select the skins you want in the "Mod Manager". Seriously try the new SCP-096 skin, it is terrifying.
If you have problems, the file: Steam/steamapps/common/SCP_Observer/Mods/INSTRUCTIONS.txt has a troubleshooting section at the end.
Endless Mode
The endless mode can be activated by selecting Endless instead of Normal in the Custom Scenario screen. The main difference is that, as the name suggests, there is no victory condition and you have to survive as long as you can. The SCPs get stronger over time and the difficulty level increases as well. To compensate for this, the generator now generates more power, so you can regain a lot of lost power. How far can you make it?
Happy Halloween!
If you haven't already join my Discord server to keep up with the latest news and updates. Feedback is always welcome, especially on workshop support. Thank you for your support and I wish all of you a scary Halloween.
