HOW TO JOIN THE BETA In the Library tab of your Steam client, browse the left-side list and right-click on Scythe. Select Properties.
In the new window, visit the Betas tab. In the drop-down menu, select Public beta - build 1.6.24 and close the window. Steam will download the update.

Cleanup update patch notes

The Cleanup Update (build 1.6.18) brings in a minor update to the online lobby and a number of bugfixes:
Online update and fixes
Lobby room update to display min and max ELO changes in a selected game + to allow checking other rooms
Fix for players being kicked out of online games for no valid reason
Fix for AI taking over mid-battle in online games
Fix for online games not starting if a player who left the room has not pressed Ready
Fix for messages typed in the Lobby's global chat appearing twice to the sender

Fix for the Meander ability points bonus in 6/7-player game being accounted but not displayed in the end score calculation
Fix for Togawa's trap "-2 combat cards" preventing the resolution of a battle fought on its hex

The first expansion to Scythe: Digital Edition is now available with a 10% discount for the first 7 days!
2 new factions: Clan Albion and the Togawa Shogunate, with their own starting positions, abilities and units available in two cosmetic variants
2 new mats: Innovative and Militant

Can I play with the new factions if I don’t own the expansion?
If you don’t own the expansion you can’t play as Albion and/or Togawa, but you can play against them in online games created by owners of the expansion. This way, the community will not be split between owners and non-owners of the expansion.
Can I toggle the expansion on and off if I own it?
Yes: when you create a new game, whether local or online, you can choose to play with or without the expansion.
What else is new?
This update adds several bugfixes, 25 new achievements and redesigned screens for the game creation menu and the online lobby featuring extra artworks by Jakub Rozalski.

Dear players,

Drag & Drop Update patch notes
Dear players,
Today's update (build 1.428) implements several improvements suggested by our community:
Drag & drop for Move action
Rather than selecting the destination of your unit during the Move action, you can now carry the unit with your mouse and drop it where it needs to go. You can toggle this setting in the Options.
Hard AI update
A number of small tweaks have been made to the hard AI. Notable changes:
Saxony should now be smarter about selecting the targets of its attacks. The AI will now not only take into account the enemy's power, but also whether there are any resources on a target hex or if there is a tunnel, etc.
Polania will now try to pursue the 'territory control' objectives if they happen to draw any of them.
Speed games
Good news for the impatient and the expert players: the minimum time limit of Play & Stay games has been lowered down to 10 minutes per player. Note that this extreme setting is not recommended for beginners who would be more comfortable with 45 min or more per player.
Paintshop
The Painted skins of several characters have been improved:
Anna & Wojtek the bear (Polania Republic)
Zehra & Kar the eagle (Crimean Khanate)
Bjorn & Mox the musk ox (Nordic Kingdom)
Server optimization
The server's code has received an overhaul to better process the requests of the players, allowing for shorter response times and a lower susceptibility to connection issues.

Recruit: fix for the bonus behavior at the game finishing action
Local multiplayer: fix for hidden Objectives & Combat cards
Move action: fix for the occasional freeze issue at the end of moves

Known issues and workarounds
A blocking bug is preventing some of our Italian and Spanish speaking players from reaching the main menu. We have just found a fix for this issue and will add it to the next update. In the meantime, here's an easy solution:
1) Go to https://account.asmodee.net/profile/location
2) Change the language to English, French or German and confirm with Actualización / Aggiorna
We would like to apologise to our Italian and Spanish speaking players for this situation.

Paintshop Update patch notes
Dear players,
This week's update is a real feast for the eyes: new textures for the units, new artworks, a spectator mode and the glitter of gold coins passing from hand to hand!
Paintshop and unit skins
All units of all factions have now two possible skins: Plain and Painted. You can view and choose which one to use in the Paintshop, available from the main menu.
Note that the Painted skins of some characters aren't final yet.

Updated main menu
Do you enjoy the work of Jakub Rozalski? The main menu now displays a random background from a pool of 8 of his artworks, changing at every launch of the game.
Spectator mode
You can now watch online games without playing to learn from your peers. Hit the "Spectate" button of any ongoing game in the lobby to watch the action. For extra convenience, this button is also available next to your friends' names in the Friends panel. Note that the Objectives and Combat Cards of all players remain hidden to the spectators to prevent any cheating.
Bribes
As per the official rules, you can now give Coins to any other player in local and online games. In the lower right corner, click on the icon of a faction above the End Turn button to access the interface handling gifts of coins. This can only be done during your turn and outside of combat.
Bugfixes and miscellaneous
- Nordic Seaworthy: fixes for retreats to lakes. Note that workers are no longer allowed to retreat to a lake without a mech to transport them.
- Undo: the button can now correctly be used after selecting an action that cannot be paid for.
- Production: added a warning message when ending a turn after produing but missing the production of a hex with a mill.
- Tutorials: fixes and tweaks for several tutorial missions
- VFX: units moving or retreating after a fight will no longer leave their shadow hanging in the air mid-flight
- SFX: several new feedback sounds added for yet-silent buttons
What's next?
- The first update of 2019 will bring improvements to the Hard AI, an optional drag & drop control for the Move action and further tweaks to the tutorials.
- As requested by the community, inviting offline players to Play & Go games has also been added to the roadmap for early 2019.

Dear players,
Today come a new update and a preview of the next content.
Harvest Update patch notes
- Play & Go: if you're not in the game at the start of your turn, an email notification will be sent to the email adress linked to your Asmodee.net account
- Camera: a new option to turn on/off all camera animations
- Final score calculation: skip the animation by clicking on the blur area
- Local game stats: two new tabs for Combat & Other
- Mech tab: the artwork now corresponds to your faction's Mech design
- Keyboard shortcuts: refreshed graphics
- Online: fixed freeze when attacking 2 hexes controlled by the same opponent in a single turn
- Graphics: reflection probes are now active only in Beautiful & Fantastic quality profiles. If you were experiencing issues with the texture of the map (black patches), switch to any other graphics quality in the Scythe Configuration window at launch.
What's next?
Next in the pipes are improvements to the Hard AI, textured character models, gifts of Coins between human players, the Spectator mode for online games and more new features and fixes.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! This week's update is dedicated to all players who have shared with us their suggestions, error reports and logs, helping us tremendously in improving the game and cleaning up issues.
New features
- Nordic Seaworthy: it's now possible to retreat to multiple territories after Combat
