Serum launches on Steam Early Access on May 23rd. A devastated world now stands in ruins, and the only beacon of hope lies in the mysterious substance known as Serum.
With only a week to go, we’re extremely excited to announce that we’re only days away from launching SERUM, our take on the ever-popular survival game genre, on Steam early access.
Our work doesn’t stop on May 23rd—far from it. We will continue throughout early access as we work on the new content and biome and react to ongoing player feedback to further enhance the player experience.

Our work on Serum continues at pace as we edge ever closer to our early access release date of 23rd May. Hopefully, you had a chance to either play the Serum demo or join the playtest here on Steam recently. We wanted to extend our thanks to everyone who sent us suggestions and feedback, and it's not too late to join the conversation on our Discord channel.
As you’ve no doubt noticed, the UI and brewing system in Serum have undergone some tweaks since the Next Fest demo, primarily to make the system more intuitive for players and we’ll continue to review that based on feedback during early access as well.

Survival in Serum is a delicate dance between resourcefulness and adaptability. As Adam, our protagonist, you'll navigate a world where Serum holds the key to your survival.
In the depths of the wilderness, harvesting plants and extracting the organs of living creatures isn't just a means of sustenance—it's a pathway to unlocking the mysteries of Serum brewing. Back at your home base, this unique art allows you to concoct special Serums that grant you potent abilities, offering a crucial advantage in the face of the deadly adversaries you will likely come across.
Among these adversaries stands Specimen X.SR0102, a chilling manifestation of the mutagenic horrors that plague Serum's world. Once a noble gorilla, this creature's form has been grotesquely twisted by the mutagen. Its once-powerful muscles have withered away, replaced by sinewy tendons that encase its skeletal frame like gnarled tree bark.
Dubbed "Mr. Hyde" by one of the E.V.A.S. junior lab assistants, this abomination epitomizes the harrowing transformations wrought by Serum. While not all gorilla test subjects share its immense size, they exhibited a strength that defied comprehension, posing a formidable threat if underestimated.
Prepare yourselves for the challenges that await in Serum’s infested wilderness because not all is what it may seem.

Today, we’re pleased to reveal that Serum will be launching on Steam Early Access on May 23rd, as revealed by the good folks over at IGN.
Accompanying the major announcement on IGN is our CGI trailer, featuring the game's protagonist, Adam. As a survivor and a patient of the E.V.A.S. Corporation, Adam finds himself stranded on the island of Matamis, where a catastrophic mutagen incident has occurred. Now, isolated and seeking answers, Adam must navigate his way through the aftermath of the disaster, with the actions of the E.V.A.S. Corporation looming large in the background.
Serum’s unique time mechanic, coupled with its crafting and serum brewing system, paves the way for experimentation and discovery as players harness the serum’s potent abilities across different locations. This is all driven by an exciting narrative of conspiracy, cover-up, and scientific negligence.

We’re already working on many different aspects, including combat, general optimisation, animation, crafting UI and biome content, and will utilise the feedback provided by players in the recent playtest to further those initiatives.

In response to the overwhelming surge of playtest registrations flooding in through Steam over the past few days, we’ve decided to expand access for more players.
Today, we are opening the gates wider, inviting more of you to dive into the action and experience Serum firsthand.
But our journey doesn't end there; your feedback is the lifeblood of our development process. We urge you to share your thoughts, suggestions, and experiences with us using the dedicated Discord server.

Developer Game Island and publisher Toplitz Productions proudly announce the launch of the Serum playtest. Now accessible on Steam.
The playtest will run from today through to May 2nd, 7 pm CEST, offering anyone brave enough a unique opportunity to provide us with valuable feedback on the game. This is an updated version of the game with two biomes to explore, noticeable tweaks to optimisation, an overhauled serum brewing UI, updated combat mechanics, animation, and a host of other enhancements as we prepare for its launch on Steam Early Access in the coming weeks.
Places are limited, and any players interested in joining the Serum playtest can apply for access through the game's official Steam page here.
During your playtest, you may encounter various issues across different aspects of the game, including:
Control-related problems – mouse button bind, controller inputs for text
UI – resolution mismatches
Save system – some glitches prevent proper game initialization
Inventory management – problems with fixed storage slot count
Gameplay inconsistencies – problems with facility and weapon upgrades
Translation – some text strings may still be displayed in English despite the game running in a different language
You may also encounter other miscellaneous bugs, such as lingering dialogue boxes, incorrect icon displays in crafting menus, and random crashes.
