Halloween Update

Hi and welcome to the Halloween update.

This update adds a few minor changes to the game that will appear until the 1st of November.

Pumpkins
Pumpkins will randomly appear in the settlements and can be clicked on to be picked up. The pumpkins themselves can be equipped in a character misc slot and clicked for a minor heal in combat.

Halloween Recipes
There are 2 treasure drop recipes for Halloween that will allow you to craft advanced foods with the pumpkins. These foods will not be eaten like normal foods, instead they are misc items like the pumpkins that can be used in combat for much greater heals.

Rare Helmets
There are 2 rare helmets Halloween

The event will run throughout October and end on the 1st of November. Once the event has finished you will still be able to use any of the items and recipes you have found, although no new pumpkins will spawn and the event recipes and items will be removed from the treasure and merchant tables.

Enjoy!

SETTLEMENTS CONTENT UPDATE: THE BLACK SWAMP!

SETTLEMENTS CONTENT UPDATE: THE BLACK SWAMP!

Welcome to the first content update for Settlements.
As with all updates the focus is not just on more items, monsters and adventures but also on expanding or revamping current systems to improve the core game.
The Black Swamp update brings you the following key additions:
New Adventure
The Black Swamp is a new adventure for Era 7 + characters. The swamp is a deadly place with many hidden treasures but most of all it is the home a the Swamp Vampire. Completing the adventure will award all characters on the adventure with a unique feat: Bio-Affinity, allowing them to do more damage with BIO weapons against the blight. Perfect for the challenges ahead.

New Boss Fight
The Swamp Vampire is not limited to the confines of the adventure. She is also encountered in the wild as a new boss fight and fight mechanics harder than when she is encountered in the adventure.
The new boss fight offers 2 new pets as well as new items in reward for defeating her, including an ultra rare item and difficulty modes for fighting her.

New Achievement
The Swamp Vampire also expands the boss collector, in game book. Allowing for more boss fights in the future to be collected and steam achievements to be unlocked.

New Items

There are many new BIO-Melee weapons available in this update along with some basic items added to the lower ERAs and some more rares, including the first of many merchant only items.

New Merchant System
This brings us nicely onto the merchant system revamp. Previously players have been stuck with only a few items for sale on the merchants and far too much money in the bank with nothing to spend it on.
Along with an improved user interface, the merchants now not only bring more items for sale but will now have the ability to sell rare drops, merchant only items and for those who can afford them, skill books!

Character backgrounds
The character backgrounds and borders have proved to be very popular so this update brings more of both.

STEAM TRADING CARDS

But that is not all, along with update 1 is also the release of Steam Trading Cards, backgrounds, Badges and Emotes!

What Next?
The updates do not stop here.
Next month will see the holiday update for Halloween and then content will start on Update 2 as well as improvement to Character management, the tutorial and giving new players more information at various stages of the game.

Update 1.0.11.5 Gone Live

The current beta update has now been moved into live.

I would also like to take this opportunity to give you an update on the new merchant system, which is currently in development as part of 'The Black Swamp' update.

New Merchant System

I have re-written the code that generates merchants and their stock. Each merchant can now look to buy up to 9 items as well as offer to sell you up to 9 items.

1) In the top-left of the picture you will see the merchant now has a set amount of money that they have available each visit. This will restrict the amount of items you can sell them. Any items you buy from them will add to the coin they have available.

2) The Sell 1, Sell 10 buttons have been replaced with a slider, allowing you to quickly sell as many items as you wish. When you offer to sell at least 1 item, a SELL button and the current offered price will display.

3) The new code allows me to set a % chance for each item rarity for every merchant. Allowing me to create rare merchants that will deal in Books, Rare items, Set Items and even Pets.

Initial testing for this feature and some of the content update items will begin next week.
I will be giving instructions on how you can test this on the forums.

Tormunda.

Update 1.0.8 and What Next?

Hello and thank you to all the new players who have been giving great feedback and comments on the forums.

Launch Week
The priority for me during the launch week was to make sure that each of you had a stable and enjoyable time playing this great game.
I have been working around the clock since release and during that time I have pushed out 22 seperate updates!
I still have a few minor issues and the odd sound issue with hardware that i will continue to work on, however it is time for me to take a step back and look at what will be in development next.

Changes and systems that just missed getting into launch
There are a few items that were dropped from launch in the last minue due to the possible introduction of bugs.
The biggest of this is a new merchant interface and more sales options, including merchants who sell books.

Content Update
I will be looking to add another world boss and some more items in the next content update - no spoilers, more about this when it is closer to being finished.

Modding
I will also be working on changing some file formats and structures to make modding easier.
As i bring each system into line with how they will be modded, I will be adding instructions to the current modding forum to allow for testing.
I will be looking to get workshop support working once the initial modding tests have been completed.

Todays Patch
Todays patch also adds German and Japanese Tutorial language support.

Thank you very much for all your support during launch.
The community of the game is very friendly and a nice place to be and you are all to thank for that.

Tormunda.
