Update 15th February 2016 - Introduction Of Seasons & Performance Improvements
Hi everyone,
A new update goes live today for Shoppe Keep Along with it comes mainly some performance increases and the introduction of a new gameplay feature.
First, let me talk briefly about the new gameplay feature that we hope to expand upon in the coming weeks. We are adding Seasons into the game. Currently every ten days, the game will change to a new season, be it Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter.
Right now, visible changes have been made for the Autumn and Winter (with Summer being the default shoppe look). We will also be implementing Spring, but we need to think about how spring will look different to any other seasons. For now, Spring looks like Summer. See below for a comparison screenshots.
At the moment, seasonal items are only limited to the Frost Resist Potion, which sells only very well in Winter. Over time, we will begin adjusting some of the items so that they will sell more favourably during certain times of the year, encouraging a restock of seasonal goods. We hope that you enjoy what we’re planning to do with Shoppe Keep
Major changes in this build include:
• Graphics settings for resolution and overall quality can now only be changed from the launcher
• The game should now launch normally on Linux
• Some work done on an issue where changing the visual quality could cause a crash
• Fixed Barbingantua getting stuck on her way into town
• Fixed barbarians causing a frame rate drop
• Done work on certain UI elements being unresponsive on some setups
• Improved memory efficiency
As always, any issues, please report them in the steam forums! Many thanks!
Valentines Day Update
Hi everyone,
A new build has just gone live with a few fixes reported by the community. Additionally there is a special seasonal spell that can be unlocked over the next few days. Anyone that has been shot with this spell will ultimately look like this:
This spell is only available for a short period! But if you manage to unlock it, you will be able to keep the spell permanently!
All the best,
Chris
Update February 2nd now live - New Adventure, Female Voice Acting, New Save System
Hi everyone!
A new update is live. We have a few new additions to Shoppe keep.
The first, is that female adventurers will no longer have male voice overs. New voice over work done to add female voices to the characters.
We have also added a brand new adventure called Sky Island. We look forward to seeing what your adventurers will discover!
We have also introduced a Unity Launcher to run when the game loads. There are some players who were experiencing the game running on the wrong monitor during multi monitor set ups. You can now choose which monitor you want to run the game in.
We still are looking to address some unclickable menus with some resolution set ups, a work around for now is that we recommend that you run the game in windowed mode. We hope to address this issue very soon.
And finally, we have fixed the save issue some users have experienced! We have had to adjust the location of the save file. However, don’t worry, you will not have to play around with the files yourself! When clicking my shoppe, a text message will appear and will provide a button to transfer your save data to the new save location
There has been a dozen of other issues addressed. In fact since the game has launched in August. The game has undergone over 400 bug fixes! We’d like to thank everyone who has been telling us about bugs and sending us screenshots and videos!
More to come soon!
Patch Preview Forum -
Hi everyone,
We wanted to try something a little different over the next few weeks. We have been asked by several players that they'd like to offer assistance via advanced development builds. One of our objectives is to catch some issues that we do not experience on our computer set ups before they are made public.
However, if you intend to activate the patch preview builds, be expected to see a lot of bugs, issues and even some features that are unfinished and may not be functioning correctly. If you would like to brave these conditions and offer constructive input to help us improve the overall game so every build before being made live to the public is as good as it can be, then please follow the instructions below:
1. Right click the game in your library and select properties
2. Click the BETA tab
3. Enter the following code Steamshoppe2015
4. This should activate the patch test depot
5. Just above where you entered the code, there is a drop down menu, select Patch test
6. The game should download the patch test depot (you may need to verify integrity of game cache or restart steam first)
We would greatly appreciate it if players who activate the Patch Preview post all their issues in the patch preview forum and do not post in the general discussions or any other forum.
The Patch Preview forum is here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/381120/discussions/4/
If you have any questions, please do let us know. This is a rather intimate form of development and there are definitely arguments for and against making these Patch previews completely public. But we will see how it turns out and if things don't work out, we will simply change how we work to improve the game
Experiencing Issues with Save Data? Please Try This!
Hi everyone,
We are aware some players are experiencing some issues with the game not saving correctly. We have some theories on this and have made some steps to see if we can solve this issue. But we need the help of those who are experiencing this problem.
If you are experiencing save issues, please log in to our Patch Test area on Steam by following the instructions below:
1. Right click the game in your library and select properties
2. Click the BETA tab
3. Enter the following code Steamshoppe2015
4. This should activate the patch test depot
5. Just above where you entered the code, there is a drop down menu, select Patch test
6. The game should download the patch test depot (you may need to verify integrity of game cache or restart steam first)
If you can save your game using this latest patch, then that means we have worked out what the issue is. So your help on this would be greatly appreciated!
We do recommend that if your game is working normally and is saving correctly, to not activate the patch test code. We'd like to get this save issue addressed as a matter of urgency.
Please do comment in this announcement if this patch has fixed the save issues
All the best,
Chris
Quick Fix: Exaggerated Levels Of Sway!
Hi everyone,
It looks like last nights update introduced an issue with the sway when using the order scroll. We see that some have experienced some major issues with the sway causing the order scroll to move quite dramatically. Unfortunately we did not experience this internally and the sway was supposed to be decreased to a very small level.
Here it is working on our machines:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odo-mo0zY9Y
If you toggle off "Camera sway" in the options menu, this will stop the order scroll from moving completely and will stop users from experiencing exaggerated levels of sway. We hope this helps! :)
This update is now live and does include a few other minor fixes too.
All the best,
Chris
Update 27th January: A New Customer, Belts and Grid Snapping In Build Mode
Hi everyone,
Today we are releasing the first update of 2016 for Shoppe Keep! First, I am afraid it is time to say goodbye to the snow, but don’t worry it may appear again in the future! We have added quite a few changes to the game, our first being the female customer type.
The female customers will behave very similarly to the male customers, they can wear and equip any current item, they can bring just as much dirt as men can and are cheeky enough to try and steal from your shoppe!
Additionally there have been a few other things that have been added. There has been some new items placed around the city for you to scrounge through and a new item type has been added in the form of belts.
We have also made some changes to the building system, if you hold left shift you will be able to snap furniture placement. We hope that this will allow those of you looking for symmetry!
Some of the noticeable fixes we have worked towards has included:
• Customers do not throw items around as much and have a higher tolerance level
• Players should now be able to place items on book shelves much easier
• Some work done towards the hit boxes of items on dropped floor, this may make it easier to pick up fallen items
• Spells can now be shot from inside the shop to outside the shop
• Colliders in the back garden have been adjusted so it is easier to walk around
• Fixed an issue where the volume of the title screen was not adjusted by the volume sliders in the main menu. These audio levels also now sync between gameplay and main menu
• A bunch of other minor fixes!
Over the next few days the front page of Shoppe Keep will be making a few changes to reflect the new updated artwork and the game leaving the Christmas update.
Open For Business - Update Incoming - New Customers, New Item Type
Hi everyone,
After a little while where Shoppe Keep was not available on Steam, the game has now fully returned and is also now available to download. We thank everyone for their patience on this and are looking forward to the future of Shoppe Keep.
Work is already underway towards the next update and we are hoping to make this live by the end of next week. We will be removing the Christmas themed items like the tree, lights and snow. However, all gameplay features introduced since the last update will still be present. There is of course an opportunity for the snow to return, but stay tuned!
The big reveal for the next update is the inclusion of female adventurers. These adventurers are able to wear all currently made items. We have captured a few screenshots that we hope you’ll like.
Additionally, a new item type has been created. Check out this rogue female who is sporting the new item.
Over the next week we may have more news to share on the next update, as well as information what had happened over the past two weeks. So please stay tuned for more info!
All The Best,
Chris, Arvydas, Daniel and Andrea
Unable To Purchase Game From Steam Or Redeem Codes
Hi everyone,
As you may know, the Steam page is now up and running... However we are facing some technical issues that we are looking to resolve as soon as possible.
If you want to be alerted when these issues are resolved, please email us at support@excalibur-publishing.com with the subject line "Shoppe Keep"..... We will email you as soon as we confirm all these issues have been addressed.
The major issues are below:
1. The download depot's are not active and means anyone who has the game can not download the files if the game is not on their machine (If you have Shoppe Keep currently installed, please do not uninstall!)
2. Steam codes from other sites are not currently redeemable via Steam
3. Players are unable to purchase the game directly via Steam, generating an error message.
All these issues are now Steam related and we are in touch with Steam to try and fix this technical issue.
Many thanks for all of your patience, I hope we can resolve these issues very soon! Please do keep checking back with us as we are doing everything we can to get Shoppe Keep up and running.
