Update 0.5.6 New hostile abilities!

Time for a new update! This update adds some more variation for the hostile abilities in the waves and also some hostile ability variation on the different maps. It also comes with a rebalance of the difficulty. The game should now hopefully feel much less frustrating and not be too hard for new players.

The curse upgrade has also been reworked and split into different categories so you through the skill tree can increase the difficulty with for different upgrades for anyone that finds the game too easy after the difficulty adjustments.

Also two new abilities that can be unlocked, both healing abilities to help you keep the health up during the tough waves. Full details of the updates is in the patch notes below.

Since this update rearranges the skill tree a bit it will be automatically refunded for you when you start the game. So don't forget to head into the skill tree and pick the upgrades you want in there.



Features/Improvements



  • Added new hostile ability Arcane Spin that will spawn in some waves. It spins around the spawn position and deals damage if hit
  • Added new hostile ability Ice Projectile that will spawn in some waves. It deals damage and slows the player if hit
  • Added new hostile ability Whirlwind that will spawn in some waves. It deals damage and stuns the player if hit
  • Added new hostile ability Galaxy Orb that will spawn in some waves. It grows larger the longer it travels and deals damage based on the size if hit
  • Remade a lot of the waves and some of them are now different on the different maps
  • Darkened the colour of the sand on the Pirate Map to make spells more visible on top of it
  • Curse in skill tree has been reworked and split into 4 different "upgrades". One for increasing minion spawns, one for increasing the number of abilities spawned, one for increasing the hostile ability damage and one for increasing minion damage
  • New ability Healing Circle, Place a circle of healing on the ground which heals you and any allies in it for 20 health after 3 seconds
  • New ability Healing Potion, Throw a Potion of healing on the ground which grows over time for up to 2 seconds and heals for up to 10 health depending on the size when you walk into it



Balance changes



  • Dragon Resilience passive now unlocks healing upgrades for the abilities that have healing upgrades
  • Removed Curse from in game upgrades
  • Reduced minion spawn rate
  • Reduced the max number of abilities that can spawn at the same time on Asag's Forest
  • Increased the max number of abilities that can spawn at the same time on The Forge



Bugfixes



  • Fixed a bug causing the light from flamestrikes to flicker when more than one flamestrike was active at the same time
  • Fixed a bug where the sprint after stealth upgrade did not always apply the corrent movement speed multiplier
  • Fixed a bug where the sprint after stealth upgrade could override the sprint ability's duration
  • Fixed a bug where block did not remove slow effects when used
  • Fixed a bug where dash when upgraded with invulnerability did not remove slow effects when used

Update 0.5.5 Minion update part 2

So last patch while making the combat a more interesting made it a bit too hard to get going in certain cases. There were very small margins that decided if you would have a really good run or simply not having a chance to survive at all getting overrun by the number of minions. This patch which is part 2 of the minion update will fix that mainly by having the stronger minion types start spawning of certain waves instead of being able to spawn from the start. There are also some changes that increases the ability to regain health. Additionally two new minion types have been added.



Features/Improvements



  • Added meat as a possible drop from Vases. Picking up meat will heal you for 50 health
  • Added a new minion type, ice minion. It slows you when you get attacked by it and starts spawning on wave 11
  • Added a new minion type, air minion. It moves much faster than the other minions and starts spawning on wave 15
  • Collision against prison walls now use the same collision handing as against the static terrain
  • Added keyboard hotkeys for selecting upgrades, the number keys 1,2,3 and 4 will select the corresponding upgrade from the top of the list


Balance changes



  • Earth minions do no longer spawn before wave 3
  • Fire minions do no longer spawn before wave 7
  • Reduced the attack range of the fire minion to the same range as the basic minion
  • Increased the attack damage of the fire minion from 5 to 15
  • Reduced the attack damage of the earth minion from 10 to 5
  • Reduced the attack damage of the basic minion from 5 to 3
  • Increased the healing from the weapon dash heal upgrade for level 2 from 4 to 5 and for level 3 from 5 to 7
  • Xp dropped from the large minions is now double the amount of the normal ones
  • Increased the base health regen of Lilith from 1 per 5 seconds to 3 per 5 seconds
  • Increased the base health regen of Thor from 4 per 5 seconds to 6 per 5 seconds
  • Increased the base health regen of The Ghostly Nun from 1 per 5 seconds to 3 per 5 seconds
  • Increased the base health regen of Hrungnir from 1 per 5 seconds to 3 per 5 seconds
  • Increased the base health regen of Grendel's Mother from 1 per 5 seconds to 3 per 5 seconds



Bugfixes



  • Fixed a crash that happened sometimes when alt tabbing out or into the game
  • Fixed a crash that happened sometimes when heading to play after resetting the skill tree
  • Fixed a bug where the stats in the play scene did not update after buying upgrades in the skill tree
  • Fixed a bug where one of the fonts would end up disappearing sometimes when playing as Grendel's Mother
  • Fixed a bug causing more than one chest to appear after a challenge that could end up causing a crash

Update 0.5.4 New minions and new Combo upgrades!

This update is the first part in making the minions and fighting against them more interesting. Two new minion types have been added and the minion upgrade behaviour has been clarified a bit. Additionally there are some balance changes and some new combo upgrades for some of the abilities that did not get any in the last update. Lastly this update includes a crash handler that saves a minidump of the game state in the case of a crash. So if you encounter a crash, have a look in the Steam discussion board for a pinned post about how to send me a crash report so I can fix whatever was causing the crash as soon as possible.



Features/Improvements



  • New upgrade Weapon Throw Armor, for each enemy hit by Weapon Throw, gain a stack of Hardened Skin lasting for 6 seconds increasing the armor by 5, refreshing when new stacks are applied, and stacking up to 10 times
  • New upgrade Weapon Swing Armor, for each enemy hit by Weapon Swing, gain a stack of Hardened Skin lasting for 6 seconds increasing the armor by 5, refreshing when new stacks are applied, and stacking up to 10 times
  • New upgrade Hardened Shield Damage, deal damage equal to the damage blocked by Hardened Shield in a small area around you
  • New upgrade Flame Walk Lava Pool Duration, increase the duration of Lava Pools by 15%
  • New upgrade Flame Walk Armor, gain 50 armor while standing in a Flame Walk lava pool
  • New upgrade Flame Walk Heal, heal for 4 health per second while standing in a Flame Walk lava pool
  • New upgrade Weapon Dash Damage Stacks, Weapon Dash now grants a stack of Sharpened Blade lasting for 6 seconds increasing the damage of Weapon Dash by 10, refreshing when new stacks are applied, and stacking indefinitely
  • New upgrade Weapon Dash Unstoppable, become Unstoppable during Weapon Dash
  • Added a progress bar above minions showing how close they are to potentially upgrade
  • Added a crash handler to the game, so if you encounter a crash check the pinned post on the steam forums on how to send me a crash report
  • Added a new minion type, earth minion. It does more damage and has more health than the basic minion
  • Added a new minion type, fire minion. It has longer attack range than the basic minion


Balance changes



  • Increased the base healing of Channel Heal from 8 health per second to 10 health per second
  • Duration of Lava Pool from Flame Walk now gets longer from the Ability Duration upgrade
  • Increased basic minion damage from 3 to 5
  • Increased minion aggro range from 7 to 9
  • Increased the size increase of upgraded minions from 1.5 to 1.75
  • Attack range of the upgrades minions is now scaled by the size increase
  • Upgraded minions now move 1.5 times faster than normal minions
  • Increased the spawning rate of minions when the total number of alive minions is low
  • Reduced the base cooldown of Weapon Swing by 2 seconds
  • Reduced the cooldown reduction of the Weapon Swing Cooldown upgrade from 2.5 seconds to 1.5 seconds
  • Increased the base damage of Weapon Swing from 30 to 40

Bugfixes



  • Fixed a bug causing minions to sometimes target the player when in stealth
  • Fixed a crash bug related to the Unstoppable Cooldown Reduction On Hit upgrade
  • Fixed a bug causing Unstoppable Cooldown Reduction On Hit to not reduce cooldown on all abilities if the abilities have been moved on the hot bar
  • Fixed a bug causing some Unstoppable effects not making the player unstoppable
  • Fixed a bug causing some other characters to play the attack animation while moving after playing Grendel's Mother

Update 0.5.3.1 Hotfix

Fixed a crash that happened when blocking a CC with the Unstoppable ability with Unstoppable Cooldown on hit unlocked and fewer than 4 abilities was unlocked

Update 0.5.3 New character Grendel's Mother!

This update includes a new character called Grendel's Mother. She has a passive ability that let's her attack while moving, which is something a few of you have asked for in the Steam discussion forum. She also comes with a new ability (that of course all the other characters can unlock in a run as well) called Bloodlust. It increases the basic attack speed when active which fits well with Grendel's Mother's ability to attack while moving. You can see a short gif of her with the Bloodlust ability active here below. This update also comes with a bunch of new combo upgrades, upgrades that unlock if you have unlocked two specific abilities. So take a look at those and see if you can come up with some exciting new builds with them.

  • New upgrade Bloodlust Armor, basic attacks when Bloodlust is active grants a stack of Hardened Skin lasting for 6 seconds increasing the armor by 5, refreshing when new stacks are applied, and stacking up to 10 times. Available if Bloodlust and Hardened Shield are unlocked this round
  • New upgrade Dash Weapon Throw, cast a free Weapon Throw behind you when using Dash. Available if Dash and Weapon Throw are unlocked this round
  • New upgrade Dash Unstoppable, become Unstoppable during Dash. Available if Dash and Unstoppable are unlocked this round
  • New upgrade Block Weapon Swing, do a free Weapon Swing when the Block ability ends if any damage was blocked. Available if Block and Weapon Swing are unlocked this round
  • New upgrade Blink Attack Speed, gain 50% increased attack speed for 4 seconds after using Blink

Update 0.5.2 smarter boss

Time for a new update! This one is mainly about improvements in the boss encounter and some balance changes.

Features/Improvements



  • New boss chase behaviour, it will now find its way to all areas you can hide in
  • Some modifications to The Forge map
  • Made the fire fork flames stay stationary for a short duration after the spawn


Balance changes



  • Reduced the boss health from 3000 to 2000
  • Boss will now sometimes chase clones if active
  • Hooks and Root projectiles are no longer cast during boss sequence
  • Increased the miss distance of hostile abilites when stealthed
  • Increased the attack range of minions from 1.0 to 1.5
  • Reduced the number of hostile abilities spawning at the same time during the first 15 seconds of a wave
  • Increased the minimum distance from the player for hostile abilites to spawn
  • Increased Thor's basic attack damage from 36 to 44
  • Thor now starts with 10% Crowd control reduction

Update 0.5.1 better collision handling

Thanks everyone that has bought the game so far! This update will be a small one since I have been mostly occupied with other post release stuff. But it brings some important improvements to the collision handling for the character and a few balance tweaks and bug fixes.

Features/Improvements



  • Improved the collision handling for the character. It will now more along the collider of obstacles instead of just stopping.
  • Improved the colliders in some areas in Asag's Forest


Balance changes



  • Increased Hardened Shield base duration from 2 seconds to 5 seconds
  • Reduced the number of duration upgrades for Hardened Shield from 5 to 3
  • Increased Unstoppable base duration from 2 seconds to 4 seconds
  • Increased the Hardened Shield heal upgrade from 1 health per second per upgrade level to 2 health per second per upgrade level
  • Increased the Stealth heal upgrade from 1 health per second per upgrade level to 2 health per second per upgrade level
  • Changed the hook time between damage from 0.25 seconds to 0.5 seconds but increased the damage per tick from 2 to 4
  • Increased the number of boss upgrades to choose between from 3 to 4
  • Reduced the chance of the Curse upgrade appearing as a choice when levelling up

  • Fixed a typo in the Healing Duration upgrade
  • Fixed a bug causing a starting ability to stay selected even if it is no longer unlocked after a skill tree refund
