Demo patch notes 0.3.5

A new update is here! In preparation for Steam Next Fest which Sidestep Legends will be participating in I have a new update for you with some exciting new things. Below here you can see a short gif showing off one of the new features, a boss.



Features/Improvements



  • New ability clones, spawn a number of clones that will become targets for hostile abilities
  • Revamped meta upgrade system, it is now a skill tree, it will be expanded in upcoming updates and/or in the full version of the game
  • Boss added at 10-minute mark, rig traps around the map to damage the boss and watch out for the poison, when defeated you get to choose one of 3 unique new passive upgrades.
  • New meta upgrade Armor, gain armor but lose movement speed
  • New meta upgrade increased ability healing
  • Obelisks challenges now need to be unlocked from the skill tree
  • New in game upgrade, increase ability healing
  • New in game upgrade, increase ability durations
  • Changed timer counting up to a wave counter and a timer showing how much time is left on current wave
  • Added explanation text for curse in game upgrade
  • Added a trail effect between obelisk platform and challenge circle
  • Added stats on pause screen


Balance changes



  • Hook stun increased from 0.5s to 0.75s
  • Hook damage per second increased from 4 to 8


Bugfixes



  • Dash charges can no longer be activated while a dash is active
  • Vase particles no longer lingers after a vase has been broken
  • Fixed wrong skill description being shown sometimes on chest upgrades

Demo patch notes 0.3.3

Time for another update, a smaller one this time. Main things in this updates are curse and luck, two new passive upgrades.

Features/Improvements



  • New passive in game upgrade and permanent upgrade Luck. Luck increases the chance to be presented an upgrade you have already started when levelling up, it increases the drop rate of gold coins when abilities spawn and it increases the amount of xp crystals and gold coins dropped from vases.
  • New passive in game upgrade and permanent upgrade Curse. Curse increases the number of hostile abilities spawned as well as their damage.
  • New upgrade stealth heal, gain healing over time while Stealth is active. Unlocked when Stealth duration and movement speed upgrades are maxed out and the Channel heal ability is unlocked
  • Xp crystals and gold coins have been visually improved and easier to spot on the map
  • Level up upgrade UI has been improved and now also shows the level of the upgrade offered as well as the cooldown if the upgrade is an ability


Balance changes



  • Moved some hostile ability spawns closer to the player
  • Increased the maximum number of xp crystals and gold coins on the map at the same time
  • Reduced gold coins drop rate from vases
  • Reduced Max health passive upgrade from 20% to 15% per level
  • Reduced the probability of getting health upgrade as a choice
  • Reduced the probability of getting health regeneration upgrade as a choice
  • Increased the cooldown reduction of dash upgrade from 1.2 seconds to 1.5 seconds per level
  • Reduced the start cooldown of block from 20 seconds to 16 seconds
  • Reduced the start cooldown of blink from 20 seconds to 15 seconds
  • Reduced the start cooldown of channel heal from 30 seconds to 20 seconds
  • Reduced the start cooldown of stealth from 20 seconds to 15 seconds
  • Current Stealth cooldown is now reduced by remaining stealth duration if stealth is aborted early


Bugfixes



  • Fixed z-fighting on some rocks
  • Fixed some bugs in hostile abilities targeting during stealth

Demo patch notes 0.3.2

Time for a new update of the demo. This updates includes a new player ability, a new hostile ability and something to look for on the map.

Features



  • New hostile ability Prison
  • Vases will now spawn on the map, unlocking these will grant you xp crystals and gold coins
  • More waves. the final wave will now start at 15 minutes
  • New ability Stealth, become invisible but move slower and make the hostile abilities will target you less accurately
  • New upgrade Stealth duration
  • New upgrade Stealth movement speed
  • New upgrade Stealth Sprint, gain Sprint for a short duration after Stealth has ended, unlocked when Stealth duration and movement speed upgrades are maxed out and the Sprint ability is unlocked
  • New upgrade Dash does not break Stealth, unlocked when length and cooldown upgrades for Dash are maxed out and the Stealth ability is unlocked
  • New upgrade Sprint does not break Stealth, unlocked when duration and movement speed upgrades for Sprint are maxed out and the Stealth ability is unlocked
  • New upgrade Blink does not break Stealth, unlocked when the length upgrades for Blink is maxed out and the Stealth ability is unlocked
  • New upgrade for Dash, gain stealth during and for a short while after using Dash. Unlocked when length and cooldown upgrades for Dash are maxed out and the Stealth ability is unlocked
  • New upgrade for Channel Heal, gain stealth during Channel Heal. Unlocked when heal per second and duration upgrades for Channel Heal are maxed out and the Stealth ability is unlocked


Balance changes



  • Moved some hostile ability spawns closer to the player
  • Increased the maximum number of xp crystals and gold coins on the map at the same time


Bugfixes



  • Fixed the upgrade text for some upgrades where it would show the wrong value
  • Improved collision when holding down mouse button
  • Improved collision during high speeds
  • Sound effects no longer continues playing when the game is paused
  • Fixed some sound effects that did not respect the volume setting

Demo patch notes since demo release version

Since the release of the demo I have made some updates to the demo build so I'll put the details of all of them here.

Features



  • Added vsync option in settings and increased frame rate cap to 300fps
  • Added terrain at the edges of the map
  • New hostile ability Hook
  • Changed spawning of hostile abilities to follow a wave system
  • Added bonus gold if you survive until the final wave
  • Updated the lighting of the game
  • Added stun effect to show when player is stunned
  • Ability UI now reflects when abilities can't be used due to different status effects
  • Hovering abilities now shows a description of the ability
  • Added passive ability Berserker's feet to the character, increase movement speed when missing health
  • You can now hold a mouse button to move towards the cursor
  • Pressing S will now stop the characters movement
  • Added cooldown reduction upgrade for Spring ability
  • Added invulnerable upgrade to Spring ability, unlocked when length and cooldown upgrades for Sprint are maxed out and the Block ability is unlocked
  • Added charges upgrade to Sprint ability, unlocked when length and cooldown upgrades for Sprint are maxed out and the Blink ability is unlocked
  • Added charges upgrade to Blink ability, unlocked when length upgrade for Blink is maxed out and the Dash ability is unlocked


Balance changes



  • Removed armor permanent upgrade
  • Removed armor in game upgrade


Bugfixes



  • Fixed holes in the terrain colliders in some places
