Frequently Asked Questions
Since Signal Decay is still in Early Access, it might be not friendly for new players to pick it up with lack of tutorials and instructions. Here are answers of frequently asked questions. Hope it helps.
Why are there reckless kills? How can I make successful stealth kills? It depends on whether the guard turns his radio on. If a guard's radio is on, he has a signal sign on himself. A guard will turns his radio on when spotting you or a corpse. It takes a few seconds for a guard to turn his radio on, and killing him before the radio is fully on is considered a stealth kill.
Why can't I assassinate a guard sometimes? 1. In single player you can only assassinate a guard without alerting him. Some special guards can't be assassinated. 2. In multiplayer you can't assassinate a guard alone. However, you can grab a guard and ask your teammate to kill him.
Why can't I use continue a saved game when my character is dead? Signal Decay is a roguelike, so you can't continue from an earlier checkpoint after losing a game. However, in Signal Decay, in most times, when an agent is "killed", he/she is actually captured and can be rescued when you get a friend to play the game together. Note that if your agent is dead after Broadcaster is destroyed, the agent is really dead and can't be rescued.
How do I rescued a captured agent? Keep the save. Restart the game loading the save, and join one or two friends and play it together.
How do I reduce high network latency? Use Steam P2P. Try changing the host so that NAT punchthrough might work and you get faster speed. If you are playing with a friend on another continent, the latency should be high and there's not much to do with it.
What is Backtrack ability? Backtrack ability is a special ability you can use in single player mode. You goes back in time following the path you walked, during which everything else is paused. You can't go through guards when you are using the ability. You will leave a holographic decoy at the place you started the ability. As long as the decoy exists, you are totally invisible. The decoy disappears until the decoy is destroyed or you stretch and break the link to it.
How do I use a gamepad? 1. In the lobby, press ESC, and afterwards press A (XBOX) or Cross (Dualshock) to switch to a gamepad. 2. If you are already in game, press ESC on keyboard or start/options button on a gamepad, and go "Manage Players" > "Manage Controllers". You can assign controllers there.
What are the consoles on the ship? What can they do? There are mainly three areas. In the central console you can research upgrades on the player characters. And the research consoles on the top can be used to research and build weapons and gadgets. On the right you can make some consumable items.
Note gadgets and weapons have to be researched first before being built.
What are the two time shown in the game? Play time is how long you have played, and Ops Time is the time in the game world.
What happens when I obtains a mission list? Extra missions will show up on the map. Now extra missions are vault missions in which you can get a lot minerals.
How do I get blueprints? Inspect research tables in each mission to get blueprints of weapons and gadgets.
Why does Global Awareness increase? What is its influence? Global Awareness increases every time when a mission is not completed stealthily and has alert levels raised a lot. The higher Global Awareness is, the alert level increases faster automatically after a mission starts.
Why is a site fortified? What is enemy countermeasure? Some sites are marked with colors, which means they are fortified or about to fortify. If you do not complete the missions in a long time, those sites will fortify or even influence other sites to fortify. When the final site is fortified, the enemy will launch missiles at your ship, so you have to complete the missions at the fortified sites asap.
How do I report a bug? Press F7 at anytime you will be taken to a folder with the info of the bug. Pack it up and send to bugs@signaldecaygame.com or join discord.gg/signaldecay and contact the developer.
