Skyfront Winter Onslaught – Rules

Overview

Skyfront Winter Onslaught in partnership with ASL is our first community competition since Early Access launch! We’ve designed the event as a newcomer-friendly competition where players compete for the highest number of kills in a single Single Deathmatch game – play time is not limited and all weapons and special abilities are allowed!

Date and Time

The event will take place in two rounds:
Round one – from 22 December 8 PM UTC until 28 December 3 AM UTC
Round two – from 29 December 8 PM UTC until 4 January 3 AM UTC

Important Notes

High scores from arcades will not be included in this event. Tournament-style events for arcades are definitely in store for the future so don’t fret it – your time will come! We’d still love for you to join in the fun and root for our community!
Speaking of community, we want to allow newcomers a chance at victory – and so we are also omitting our Skyfront veterans (or seasoned players) from the event. We will talk to these individuals privately, so if we haven’t spoken to you, you are not one of them!
While our veterans and arcades are omitted, they can still join the event, but their kills will not be counted towards anything – so if you think you are being beaten at any point, you may still be in first place!
The entire event will also be moderated to ensure no one is cheating or breaking any rules.

Prizes

First place – $ 50 Steam gift card + DM002 RC Drone with Camera & Goggles
Second place – $ 25 Steam gift card
Third place – $ 10 Steam gift card

Rules

1. Players will compete for the highest kill count in a Single Deathmatch game.
2. Your death count will not affect your chance of winning – we are only looking at your kill count.
3. The kill count will be registered at the end of the game or when the player exits the game.
4. All weapons and special abilities are allowed. Use what you think will get you the victory!
5. Players are forbidden from teaming up and assisting each other, using bugs/glitches, and intentionally farming AFK players with the intention of raising their kill count.
6. Abusive behaviour will not be tolerated in-game, especially in VOIP – this is a community event, keep it friendly!
7. The high scores will be counted for games with a minimum of three players at the start of the game. NOTE! If the game starts with three players and two players leave before the end of the game, the kill count of the last remaining player will be locked the moment the second to last player leaves the game.
8. The winners are the players with the top three highest number of kills at the end of a competition round, i.e. the top three at the end of round one on December 28th and the top three at the end of round two on January 4th.
9. Veterans and arcade accounts are excluded from the competition (see Important Notes above).
10. Prizes will be awarded at the end of both rounds of the competition (for round times see Date and Time above).

A Glimpse at What’s to Come

Phew, the holiday season, amiright?! We’ve been busy as hell trying to cram as many bug fixes and cool little additions into Skyfront as we can before 2017 draws to a close.

Our biggest announcement for the holiday season is the Skyfront Winter Onslaught competition in partnership with Aerial Sports League (ASL)! We are beyond excited and humbled to be working with such a huge name in aerial sports. Winter Onslaught will be our first step towards a crossover competition combining VR and live-action drone combat.

Winter Onslaught will take place in two rounds from December 22nd until January 4th and allows you to win some killer prizes, including Steam Gift Cards and a freaking drone! Players will be competing for the highest kill count in a single Deathmatch game. In both rounds, the victorious player will receive a $50 Steam Gift Card and a drone kit from ASL, the second and third place holders will receive a $25 and $10 Steam Gift Card respectively. Read more about the event on our Discord channel at https://discord.gg/V6tYC2t and stay up to date by following us on social media (links below).

Oh, and to sprinkle a little holiday spirit into the mix, we’re throwing in this adorably dorky Christmas skin because… well, mostly, why not? But on the practical side, this skin is the first glimpse into the future of character customisation in Skyfront.

We have also added an in-game headshot notification to really celebrate how good of a shot you are! Yes, the artwork is just temporary and will be replaced with some fancier graphics very soon.

To make loadout changes more seamless, we removed the ‘Apply’ button, meaning that loadout changes are now saved automatically.

Changes to look out for in the upcoming months – user statistics.

And now to the nitty-gritty… The things we fixed in this update:
– Sniper gun’s zoom would reset to 0 when placed inside an object;
– All displayed scores would reset for a player if he/she left and then rejoined a match;
– Weapon prompt displayed newly selected weapons before the player had actually respawned;
– Missing collision boxes on several of the objects on the Egypt level, incl. the gloomy Anubis statue, have been replaced.

NB! Make sure you have the latest version of the game installed. If you are not sure, restarting Steam client usually does the trick.

December update vol 1

Hey, a semi-quick update!

We’ve been plowing on with new developments for Skyfront VR. Today, as promised, we're adding some features to make it easier to find and create matches.

- GAME HUB. You can now access match list straight from the Main Menu by selecting Play>Game Hub.

- WEAPON PROMPT. We added a holographic prompt to show you the weapons and key bindings are currently active. NOTE: You can disable this feature in the options menu.

- Revolver NERF! Due to community feedback we nerfed revolver damage from 100HP to 90HP. That means you can no longer one-shot your unfortunate opponents. Double headshot should still do the trick though!

Bug fixes:

- Reaching into a wall with the controller would allow you to shoot through it, leading to some very unfair kills with the sniper rifle. No longer. Fixed!
- Sometimes changes in loadouts wouldn’t save - Fixed!
- In case of leaving the match and going back to the Main Menu, the pointer would sometimes disappear - Fixed!
- Sometimes players weren’t able to re-join a match after the host migration - Fixed!
- Automatic Rifle reload animation issues after a weapon swap during reload animation - Fixed!
- Changed Automatic Rifle recoil to constant instead of cumulative animation.
- Fixed “Killed by…” tag visibility issue. It will now always face you as you move around.
- A player starting a match in Egypt map would be briefly positioned inside the pyramid floor - Fixed!

Next up, a personal User Profile with detailed gameplay statistics (wins, kills, deaths, k/d ratio etc), updates to the game menu and a special Christmas surprise.
We will also be announcing a COMMUNITY EVENT, the first on many, which will make better use of our current leaderboard and give players an equal chance to come up on top. Also, some sweet rewards!
In the meantime, get back to us on Discord, Facebook and Steam Community and let us know your thoughts on updates as well as what cool features we should be working on next!

November update

Hey guys,

We've been busy as hell and are excited to release our first Early Access update.

- Added recoil to all weapons! For some it's purely cosmetical, adding to the realness of using a weapon. For Revolver, Shotgun and Sniper Rifle it also works as a nerf. Each shot is followed by a vertical offset, which makes it harder to score several hits in quick succession, a method that more experienced players were quick to exploit.
- Shotgun has been buffed. Amount of bullets per shot is up from 10 to 16, damage per bullet reduced from 30 to 20 HP, reload time reduced from 2 secs to 1,5 secs.
- Added support for WINDOWS MIXED REALITY headset! Remapped the controls to the joystick so everything should work same as on Oculus.
- Lot's of updates to the Egypt map, including graphical optimizations and replacing missing collision boxes.
- Team Deathmatch max size is now 5v5, instead of 3v3.
- Bots now react to Stealth and X-ray special abilities, ie Stealth makes the player invisible to bots and X-ray reveals the location of all bots on the map.

We also fixed several bugs:
- A bug where a shotgun trails remained in the air when shot close to a shield or a map dome.
- A bug where revolver became stuck after rapid firing and would only work again after a respawn.
- A bug with the game stats window which in some cases continued to show results from a previous match.
- some other minor fixes to the menu and maps.

Our next update will focus on accessibility, making it easier to learn the controls and finding and creating matches. We also have some bigger updates in store. In the meantime, check out the new features and let us know what you think on Discord, Facebook and Steam Community. We'll be listening and playing with you!

Skyfront VR is live!

It is happening. We are proud to announce that Skyfront VR is live in Steam Early Access.

We have worked very hard over the last few months to add some new features, a new map, some cool weapons and abilities. We have also fixed a lot of bugs.

Howevere, this is very much a work in progress, so we will be updating everything about the game, adding new features and reworking mechanics based on feedback from you. So bear with us if you encounter any bugs and glitches and please report them in Steam Forum or Discord channel dedicated threads.

So thank you for jumping on board and have fun!
