Update to Yesterday's Patch

Everybody makes the occasional blunder, and it seems we may have made some in yesterday's patch.

We're super grateful that you guys are so vocal and honest with us. We couldn't do this without your feedback!

So here we go:

  • The reload time of the shotgun has been nerfed back to 2 secs from 1.5 secs;
  • The distance of the grappling hook has been buffed up to 70 metres. However, we did nerf the grapple pull acceleration by a factor of 0.3 to limit the maximum speed that can be achieved;
  • We fixed a bug that calculated incorrect headshot values for all raycast weapons;
  • And the Game End Menu animations have currently been disabled due to several bugs.

Be sure to holler at us if you notice some other bugs! Thanks for being awesome! :)

Private Matches, Valentine's Day and Other News

Buckle up, because this hunk is going to make you weak in the knees!

For Valentine's Day, we are channelling our romantic side with a bunch of hearts and pink and... well, you get the drift. Enjoy our very own Mr Charming from February 14th until the 18th!

But now, drum roll please!

Skyfront has private matches! Whooo!! Yeah! The crowd goes wild!
This new functions allows any player to create a password protected match. The match will be visible in Game Hub with a lock icon. To make it easier to find a particular match, the Game Hub listing now also displays the name of the match host. Whether you manage an arcade, just want to play against your friends without meddling veteran players killing you before you even get your bearings after a spawn, or are organising a tournament style event in Skyfront, this new addition will definitely come in handy!

This patch is also heavily concentrated on fine-tuning our weapons.

It's become pretty apparent that the current meta heavily favoured the shotgun-sniper combo. To liven things up a bit and make other weapons more viable alternatives, we've made the following damage changes:

  • Revolver 90 -> 100 (headshot 200)
  • Rifle 30 -> 40

And to scale back the use of the Sniper Rifle as a stand-in for the Revolver, the Sniper Rifle will now only do 200 damage in double-handed mode. One-handed damage is 100.

We've also adjusted the reload times of the weapons as follows:

  • Automatic Rifle 1.5s -> 1s
  • Rocket Launcher 2.5s -> 2s
  • Revolver 1.5 remains the same
  • Sniper 3s -> 2s
  • Shotgun 2s -> 1.5s

The final weapon related update in this patch concerns the Grappling Hook. We know how much some of you love to spiderman around the arena, but... it kind of makes you guys hard to target. So we've reduced the distance of the Grappling Hook by 50% to limit the mobility and maximum speed the grapple currently provides.

And as a fun addition, the Match End Menu now includes some dandy animations.

Skyfront Skirmish: Aim for the Head

Skyfront Skirmish – Overview

Skyfront Skirmishes are weekend challenges that Skyfront organises every couple of weeks. During each Skirmish, players will compete for a certain high score (e.g. most kills, best multikill, killstreak, most kills with a certain weapon, etc.) that will be announced the week of the event. Play time is limited to the duration of the Skirmish and all weapons and special abilities are allowed, unless stated otherwise (e.g. if the Skirmish is devoted to a specific weapon).

Each future Skyfront Skirmish and the prizes of future Skirmishes will be announced separately.

If you love the Skirmishes or have any suggestions for what we could do better or differently, give us devs a shoutout on our Discord channel at https://discord.gg/kkh6qag.

Skyfront Skirmish: Aim for the Head

February 9th 8 PM UTC until February 12th 5 AM UTC

This weekend we want to see your headshot skills. Our revolver is the perfect weapon to take aim and hit right on the target! But don't let us curb your creativity – as long as it's a headshot, it counts. ;)
The player to get the most headshots during a single Deathmatch will be crowned our winner!

Date and Time

Skyfront Skirmish: Aim for the Head will begin Friday February 9th at 8 PM UTC and end Monday February 12th at 5 AM UTC.

Prizes

First place – $ 50 Steam gift card + DM002 RC Drone with Camera & Goggles
Second place – $ 25 Steam gift card
Third place – $ 10 Steam gift card

Rules

  1. Players will compete for the highest number of headshots during a single Deathmatch game.
  2. Your death count will not affect your chance of winning – we are only looking at your headshot count.
  3. A player’s headshot high score will be registered at the end of the game or when the player exits the game.
  4. All weapons and special abilities are allowed. But trust us, you’ll want to be using the revolver if you intend to find yourself on the leaderboard! ;)
  5. Players are forbidden from teaming up and assisting each other or using bugs or glitches with the intention of getting a better high score.
  6. Abusive behaviour will not be tolerated in-game, especially in VOIP – keep it friendly!
  7. The high scores will be counted for games with a minimum of 3 players at the start of the game. NOTE! If the game starts with three players and two players leave before the end of the game, the high score of the last remaining player will be locked the moment the second to last player leaves the game.
  8. The winners are the players with the top three highest scores at the end of the Skirmish.
  9. Arcade accounts are excluded from the Skirmishes (see Important Notes below).
  10. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the Skirmish.
  11. Skyfront will attempt to contact the winners of the Skirmishes, but to guarantee that you get your due prize asap, please contact the devs on Skyfront’s social media or Discord channel.

Important Notes

High scores from arcades will not be included in the Skirmishes. Separate events will be organised for arcades. That being said, arcade players are still more than welcome to join in on the Skirmishes, but their scores will not be counted towards anything.

All Skyfront Skirmishes will be moderated to ensure no one is cheating or breaking any rules.

Tiny Interim Patch

If you're on our Discord channel (join here https://discord.gg/kkh6qag) or follow us on Facebook, you already know that we are launching a new challenge series, Skyfront Skirmish, on Friday January 26th. In preparation for the challenge series, we made a few quick fixes and a minor update.

Fixes:
- Leaderboard fix;
- A statistics bug that caused your average position to stay unchanged;
- Also fixed some server lag problems.

In addition, we are introducing an afk detector that will display a warning when a player has remained inactive for 30 seconds. If the player has been inactive for 40 seconds, he/she will be removed from the game.

Stay tuned for the rules and other details regarding Skyfront Skirmish!

Stats + Killstreak & Multikill

Hold on to your hats because the stats are here!

The new feature allows you to keep track of your kills, k/d ratio, best killstreak (more about these below) and a ton of other knick-knacks; it also includes comparisons to the current average scores, match bests and personal bests.

The My Stats view includes games played, wins, avg position, best kills, best damage, favourite weapon, favourite special ability and much more! At the moment, the stats are only displayed for games played in Single Deathmatch, but you can expect a BIGGER and BETTER update to the stats shortly, including game mode and weapon specific indicators.

Another cool addition arriving in this patch are Killstreaks and Multikills. Since it turns out that these two notions are not at all as clearcut as we thought, let's get things straight – a killstreak is the number of kills you achieve without dying, or before the end of the match, while a multikill is a number of kills in quick succession. The killstreak notification will be displayed after every fifth kill and the multikill count keeps ticking as long as you manage to kill an opponent within ten seconds of your previous kill.

We improved the grappling hook by adding a crosshair that indicates the exact place of contact. A green crosshair means that the target is in range and a red one that the target is out of range. Once the hook connects, the boost will be multiplied by four, which allows you to change direction as the hook retracts and improve your navigation accuracy.

Also, the Game Hub match list now refreshes automatically and shows the active match list in real-time.

And here are the bugs squashed in this patch:
- The revolver now properly fires during the recoil animation;
- Fixed the flipped display bug that occured on the left hand sniper rifle;
- No more problems with Autoheal data not reaching the server.
