Slizer Battle Management System

ABMS v2.08: Spear Lanzer abilities fixed, Planning ship weight bug fixed

ABMS patch v2.08 has been released. The major changes are:

  • Planning room fixed not subtracting all deleted units' weight when one unit was a ship
  • Ion Howitzer fixed not firing, fixed not having pressure, fixed showing Spear Lanzer as offline instead of targe, now removes targets' shields when not detonating
  • Spear Lanzer fixed its weapon showing as constantly fired and not using ambush trigger

Patch was released on 24/11/20. That weight issue is kind of pretty bad. My bad.

SBMS v1.25 Released: Sounds List and Mission 10

SBMS v1.25 released:

  • Removed extra Plasma Beam Cannon sound being listed
  • Sprayer Shot, Plasma Cannon sounds added to sounds list
  • Hit the Ground mission now triggers ending earlier
  • Removed requirement for Mainbase to keep moving for the mission to end. Mainbase won't move for some reason.

ABMS v2.07: Avalanche and Squall changes. Operation Logs, Dark maps fixed

ABMS patch v2.07 has been released. The major changes are:

  • Avalanche mission fixed crashing
  • Avalanche fixed using abilities when offline, range increased
  • Squall not having fighter movement
  • Operation 3 fixed not having enough mission logs, crashing the game. Rewrote old SBMS mission logs
  • Dark maps added for missions that didn't have them
  • Stormbreaker beam pressure increased from 20 to 25

These crashes are a pretty severe oversight. I apologise for that.

Easy Mode Accessibility and Improvements For New Players

Patch 2.06 has been released

Easy Mode:

  1. Operation 1 now has Easy Mode button under "Start Mission" button
  2. Easy mode added to all suitable operation 1 missions
  3. Easy modes made easier for early missions
  4. Keys tutorial sprite added to certain operation 1 missions

Other changes:

  1. Story mode text log added from SBMS
  2. AI fixed not setting targets for enemy units too far from player units
  3. AI fixed not using increased speed for enemy units
  4. Operation 1 missions fixed not ending if remaining enemies are retreating
  5. Rockets fixed detonating if targeted at enemy units
  6. Operation 1 mission improvements

I don't like easy mode, but it was kept in from SBMS, and the game was too inaccessible to players inexperienced in RTS gams, so I've made easy mode easier to find and applied it to more missions, but just for operation 1.

Terran Partition v2.05: Windowed Mode, Unit Blueprints, Hotkey fixes

Terran Partition v2.05

  1. Buster plans side view finished
  2. GUI width and height fixed not being updated, causing the mouse visuals to be offset with the actual location
  3. Windowed mode added to graphics menu
  4. Borderless Fullscreen now sets window to fill monitor's current resolution size instead of game's resolution size
  5. Fullscreen button in Graphics menu removed toggling since the other buttons leave fullscreen mode
  6. Fullscreen, windowed, and windowed fullscreen modes are now set when the options file is loaded
  7. Aquila and Reaper fixed using wrong hotkeys

These have been issues since SBMS had graphics options.

ABMS v2.04 Laser Sniper sounds added; Rebel ships, Ship Mode, MMV missile fixes

ABMS v2.04

  • Laser Sniper sounds added
  • Ship Mode now gives all ship abilities by default
  • Rebel ships detection range increased from 250 to 500, fixed having detection level set to 1, not allowing them to attack moving targets
  • Planning fixed not giving ships their correct upgrades and abilities.
  • MMV missiles now sets fuel based on range, fixing them not reaching their targets

Terran Partition v2.04: Beam, Smoke, Targeting Fixes

Terran Partition v2.04

  1. Beam weapon ability fixed activating and deactivating constantly
  2. BO field fixed allowing units inside it to attack outward by adding blind mechanic
  3. Aggressive Move fixed changing target to nearest target
  4. Moveattack and Aggressivemove fixed not using nearest_unit(), so not checking if target was visible or targetable

That's all.

ABMS v2.02: Destroyers/Test Target images added. Buildings, Beam Weapon fixes

ABMS v2.0 updates:

  • Gunbarrow, Wingguard, Pummeler, Rammer, Explorator, Sabotage Boat, Starstriker added side view
  • Test Target sprite added to avoid it resizing, fixed changing states
  • Missile Tower fixed not switching target if target dies
  • Nova tower fixed having "tower" AI, causing it to not react
  • All enemy buildings now stop when their target is out of range
  • Beam weapon ability fixed not having AI for enemies
  • Enemy Triarus fixed not having beam accuracy variable, crashing the game

The enemy triarus was so happy to be able to use its beam weapon that it won't stop activating and deactivating it. No, really. I need to fix that today.

Terran Partition v2.01 Released

Terran Partition v2.01

Patch Notes:

Fixed:

  1. Missiles not detonating if aimed at target area
  2. Energy Transfer Laser not working on target units
  3. Suppression Missile showing triggered when BO Missile triggered
  4. Spear Lanzer fixed always having absorption stealth even when not purchased, fixed not being reselectable even when purchased
  5. Spear Lanzer's Reactive Armour fixed not working
  6. Ship Battle mode fixed starting on aircraft menu, fixed not having weight needed to field battlecruisers. Leaving destroyers available as support units (not sure if that was in there intentionally or not). Fixed enemy not having AI set.

I should have tested Ship Battle mode before release, sorry about that. I should have also tested the Spear Lanzer's abilities; I only discovered this when I tried to make a reactive armour ability and found out I had already done so. Missile issues aren't ad egregious, I just forgot that the few area-targeted missiles like suppression missiles weren't detonating when they reached the target.

If anyone finds any issues, please report them. I've had very little feedback on Terran Partition, so I haven't had much to go on for additions/fixes.

Roguelite ABMS Mode Upgraded, Terran Partition v2.00

Slizer Battle Management System: Terran Partition just released version 2.00 (not that anyone would know unless they checked the file version since I haven't been putting out patch notes).

This marks the end of the planned new features added to ABMS mode. I may add more features if there is interest shown.

SBMS updates:

  • Secret cheat code added to kill all enemies
  • "Live" mission fixed crashing and fixed game ending sequence not activating
  • Enemy Venator fixed crashing
  • •Revenant and Maris Stellaris ships fixed not having their abilities displayed in menus

ABMS updates:

  • Boss fleets added when all other units are killed
  • Log in menu improved visuals
  • ABMS ending sequence added
  • Enemy spawns improved to not be as close
  • All units except the Buster are now available to build
  • Fixed new
games using the last loaded game data

Honestly the only reason I added the cheat code was to make testing easier, which I should have done years ago because it's saved me a ton of time and effort.

I never really gave much thought to improving ABMS mode, especially not this much. IT was asked for and it was a lot of work getting it updated and working, but it's actually sort of nice. I hated working on it but once it started to work well, I got that programmer's delight of seeing the thing that had become known as a dysfunctional mess suddenly and unexpectedly working reliably. It's still a bit of a mess but it's functional. And it's kind of fun, but Wraiths are overpowered. I'll have to copy the changes over to BMS2 when I can.

I think this screenshot is from version 1.98. I should probably remove all that text which was only there for me to test things, but some of it actually sort of gives it character? I'll probably remove it. Also not sure what to do with cloak/speed, linear/circular scans and a few other things, but I don't like to make changes to things that aren't a problem.

I hope everyone enjoys it, and please report any issues on Steam or via e-mail.
