Slurkum b5.4 - THIS UNLOCKS STEAM SERVER BROWSER CONNECTION!
Hail Slurkonians! So the main server has been locked since the play-test began, that changes now! The recommended connection method for now will be to use the Steam server browser in your Steam client. Go to View >> Servers then choose Slurkum from the list. Simply double click the server or choose the 'Connect' button to launch the game and automatically begin connecting to the server. Play-testers get one character slot, and when the client opens you will see the character creation window on the right. Simply create and you are in. The in-game server browser may or may not work for WAN servers, as i cannot confirm due to testing limited to a closed loop LAN which has worked well except for player count. *Known Issue - Steam server browser doesn't seem to be reporting player count. Need confirmation on this. However, for now you can jump (press space bar) and then check your console, it will give you the current player count. As you log in to the server, press F12 to see the console, you can confirm your client ticket is being requested, sent, and validated. This shows Steam authentication is now integrated, and from there we can move on to achievements, etc... once some of the more basic issues are resolved. There will be two more big downloads before we can get to Steam delta-patching (where it only downloads the changes). I mistakenly chose to begin compressing the builds prior to upload for Steam, and this turned our to be a bad choice. Steam is unable to create delta-patching from compressed uploads, however it turns out that Steam compresses the versions on it's own. Lesson learned, expect at least one, possibly two more big downloads. Thank you for choosing to play-test Slurkum, hope to see you in game soon! Building client with compression now, this took 3 gb from overall size! This first change will require a full re-download of the client and then it will go back to differential patches again. More procedural quest targets and offers added to the world. Housing tweaks. Stay tuned for more!

Hail Traveler, I bring you a surprise update!
it's been more than a minute and it's very good to be back! Hope you are well. Improvements and Features Re-worked and improved regional and POI mob spawn system. You will see POI's on the map as Red Marker when nearby. Purple map markers indicate a Bindstone location. Regions Hel, Barrows, Midlands, Kharsun, Broceliande are ready for hunts with improved, realistic loot lists. Some areas still unspawned. Much more loot to be added, along with POI trap treasure chests in a future update. Questing and Tasks system! Still just a simple implementation with much larger plans, although most vendors should have a task for you and pay with coin. *Players are advised to just do one quest at a time or maybe two. There can be some errors when taking 3 or more quests* Don't forget most vendors will trade you coins for loot, and the sell price is on the top left of the trade menu. This is one way to gain coin, along with mining gold/silver/copper and smelting, or completing quests. Improved and re-worked craft system, more secure and user friendly. More features still planned. Steam Server Browser has replaced original server browser, VAC Secured Steam Gameserver Compliant. Some more UI enhancements, this will be a constant improvement basis, a little bit each patch. Memory useage and network latency improvements for Solo and Multiplayer, in large part to new regional spawning and Steam networking. All mobs now hold good sync with client, should be virtually zero teleporting/disappearing animals/monsters. My apologies for the long absence, this last year has been a challenge for all of us. Progress has resumed.
Server Reboot Notifications and Lawless Village Improvements
New optional server reboot code gives three warning messages and pop-up at 10 minutes, 5 minutes, and 1 minute before server reboot. Admins can enable this by changing the "timedshutdown" option in ServerInfo.txt
Lawless elven village in Aelynthir now has basic amenities- bank, fire, well, bindstone, and alchemist.
Improvements Patch Slurkum 3.24b
Server Upgrade: Core server upgrade to spatial hashing for better performance, higher fps, and much better view distance for networked objects.
Balance Tweaks: Loot lists have been toned down and more appropriate for mob type. Different kinds of boulders yield resources according to their type. Better stamina cost method for tool and weapon.
UI Improvements: Map screen now zooms quickly. Celtic font style and 'Player' tab improvements.

Vendor Improvement For good economy and skill use, vendors now trade by default at half an items value. However, this ratio can be increased by two ancillary skills, Lore and Subcontracting. These skills make up the missing half of item value during the trade, at 25% each. So if you reach 100 in both skills will trade at a 1:1 ratio, 100 in 1 would be 75%, and no skill in either would be 50% which is default. This formula applies to all items except for coins which will always trade for 100% of their value. (You can mint your own coins btw) Example: sellValue = actualValue / 2 + skillmodifier * .25
