Hey Everyone, We have been working hard over the past months to update and improve the look and feel of Smash Crates. Focusing heavily on the art and animations for the game. Huge Art overhaul coming soon!

Big News! We are current doing a huge overhaul of the art for Smash Crates. There are several big updates coming soon including:
Character Specific Animations
New Tile maps specific to each map type, think destructible castles, buildings and temples as the new battle maps.
New character effect animations
New background art and updated versions of the current backgrounds.
New Soundtracks for each map !

Update 14/10/21
Hey Everyone! We have been working on some big changes to Smash Crates for the past week but before we get those I wanted to quickly run through what has already been implemented.
Completed:
Player controllers (movement etc)
Full controller support (xbox, playstation)
Procedural environments
Game State systems
Player UI
4 map backgrounds
Main Menu systems
As the game currently stands it is completely playable and I have been able to get some great feedback from play testers.
Recent Updates:
Added Mega Crate power up where you increase in size and become a huge destructive machine.
Added Rocket booster power up, gain the ability of flight and fry your opponents with your rockets flames.
Built Audio manager to keep track of and control all the games audio components.
Updated procedural build system to include power up crates, embedded into the environment.

Hey! Welcome to the Smash Crates Dev log. Here I will be adding updates on what is happening with the development of Smash Crates. But first I wanted to talk a little bit about the Fat Alien Cat team. We are a small team of 2 Developers working part-time, my partner is the creative eye behind the art of Fat Alien Cat and I am the programmer/designer. We are both currently working full time in the Australian Visual Effects Industry but have always dreamed of setting up our own game studio, with the goal of creating games we are passionate about and are crazy fun to play.
Our goal with Smash Crates is to create a unique party game experience where players of all skill levels and partake and enjoy. Taking inspiration from games like “Duck Game” and “Stick Fighters” we aim to create an experience that people can keep coming back to and play with friends locally or online with Steam remote play features.
