  • [p]Achievements now come with rewards on completion - when you load up your save file, some of them may be auto-completed based on what you've done already![/p]
  • [p]The blueprint books in shrines that used to house crafting recipes have now been moved to achievements. Much better, no?[/p]
  • [p]Quests, logs, and achievements with unclaimed rewards will now show a ! beside the journal tab when you open it up[/p]
  • [p]There are 101 achievements in total, so we hope you enjoy collecting all of them![/p]
  • [p]There's a special Star Trophy when you get all the achievements, so do your best~[/p]
  • [p]Contests and events will now give a trophy instead of the Star Trophy; if you've obtained a Star Trophy from our building event from the past, it is now a Builder's Trophy[/p]
  • [p]Completing all the Cultural Center rooms will now reward you with a banner![/p]

✈️ Fast Travel

  • [p]Portals can be unlocked after completing the achievement The Cat That Leapt Through Mines by resetting the mines layout ten times[/p]
  • [p]The crafting recipe automatically crafts a set of them. You need to put two down and label them with the same name in order to fast travel between them[/p]
  • [p]Once they are linked up, changing the name of one will automatically change the other[/p]
  • [p]You place Portals using the Builder's Kit, so there are also no restrictions... Just remember: if you break the game on purpose, you deserve to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Player beware if you choose to get cheeky![/p]
  • [p]You can place portals in different maps and indoors, including townhomes. Townhome building areas have now been fixed and should properly display the items you've placed into them[/p]

🌱 Farming

  • [p]There is now farm tile information displayed on the HUD, showing the name/stage of the crop that is planted there, fertilizer/speed grow status, quality, and # days that the crop has been growing! (This can be disabled under Settings > Tweaks)[/p]

Meowllo! You may have noticed a flurry of updates over the past few days, we've been hard at work polishing things up and taking all of your feedback and bug reports into account! πŸ₯΄

Here's the batch of updates that have been made since our last patch note:

⛏ Mines
- Clearing last layers of voxel piles will no longer cause you to sometimes fall through the floor
- Valuable resource rooms will now be guarded by slightly more enemy spawns
- Earth Slimes now heal amount 5 -> 10
- No more rain sounds while within the mine floor areas
- Earth Slime: HP 40 -> 130
- Mines buffs that affect stamina no longer apply outside of the mines
- "Curse" now increases enemy spawn rate as well as enemy drop rate, damage, and increases their overall HP
- Myst piles are guarded more frequently by enemies
- Myst piles show up less frequently on earlier floors
- Log machines now properly collide with the player
- Additional balancing work to make sure nothing is breaking the economy πŸ™‚

🏎 Kart
- Fuel consumption gem effects/mines buffs now properly affect the drill's fuel consumption
- HOV Unit now can activate multiple times midair before it runs out (so you can let it go early/reboost)
- Added a speedometer to the fuel meter

😻 NPCs
- Fixed an issue where daily dialogue lines would keep repeating until you saved/loaded the game again
- Mack is now able to be confessed to
- Fixed an issue where it was possible to trigger two different heart/friendship events at the same exact time
- No longer stack on top of each other, and will walk away from each other if they get too close to one another

🌽 Farming
- Wheat is now able to be grown in the Spring season
- Watering Can now properly gives you an "out of water" message when you're out of water
- Harvest and Seed planting animations now allow you to move, and are much shorter in duration
- Sprinklers no longer block the harvest/seed planting actions

πŸͺ“ Resources
- "Phantom" resource issue has been fixed, you should no longer notice resources that stay in place after destroying them (trees, rocks, etc.)
- Perfect charging your tool hits should now deal 100% more resource damage

- New Horizon: Fixed an issue where quest wouldn't complete properly for players, leaving them in a state where they could not progress with the other NPC roles (carpenter, etc)
- Maven of the Sea: Checking the letter set now properly gives you quest progress
- Maven of the Sea: Talking to ember properly finishes the quest
- Just a Hobby I: Fertilizer bags should now properly trigger quest task progression (duplicated Fertilizer Bag recipe has also been removed)
- Limitations Of Cardboard And Glue: Fixed an issue where the quest would not successfully register that you had a Carpenter on the island
- Happy Frame Salesman: Now awards the following crafting recipes that were previously unavailable (Consumables->Exploration)

- XP rewards have been hidden (but are still tracked), as skills will come back in a later update!

- The player's velocity no longer carries over between shrine restarts
- Stamina wheel now shows a cooldown bar when your mini-dash has been used
- Mini-dash is now a buffered input, so using it right before the cooldown ends will perform a mini-dash the moment the cooldown ends

✨ Staff
- Greatly reduced the required Stellar Zeals per spell level. 1/1/1/2/2/3/3/4/5, down from 3/5/7/10/13/16/20/24/30
- Chonkify: Added fading effect to visualize when effect is beginning to end
- Chonkify: Fixing issue where it was possible to grow larger than intended 😦

❓ Other
- Fixing issue where it was possible to open the builder kit UI while talking to Miss Curator, causing a softlock
- Player pin is no longer rotated by 90 degrees when in the Desert Canyon
- No longer possible to use sleeping boxes during cutscenes (such as finding the land sprite, etc); additionally, players who accidentally did this should no longer be softlocked in the quest progression

  • Fuel now recharges while you are in the kart,
  • Drill now properly deactivates when you run out of fuel,
  • Drill fuel consumption has been lowered slightly,

⛏️ Mine



  • Holes should no longer be generating in layouts,
  • Terminals should no longer be displaying the "Recipe" card when you've learned all available recipes,
  • Voxel drops have been nerfed, again,
  • Fixed a number of cases where resources within mine layouts would cause floating resources to spawn,
  • Pickaxe and Gardening Hoe no longer consume incredible amounts of stamina when breaking voxels
  • Bats and Flying Casters no longer drop infinite loot if you juggle them while they are dying,
  • Music now properly changes as you descend through the mine floors,
  • Fishing areas within the mine now properly spawn different kinds of fish as you descend,
  • Myst Voxels now drop Crystal Clusters,
  • Fixed an issue where ascending in the elevator from the ending floor would warp you to Floor 0 if you chose to go to lobby

πŸ—ƒοΈ Remnant Loom



  • Multiple drop rate/rarity calculation issues have been addressed! Certain items in the recipe were unable to be dropped, especially as your drop rate increased through buff usage,
  • "Drop rate" has been reworded to "Luck modifier" to more accurately reflect what it does, as this behaves more like magic find instead of a traditional drop rate buff,
  • Touched by the Moon: temporary buff has been adjusted to give +20% luck per temporary level, down from +100% per level,
  • Touched by the Moon: permanent buff has been adjusted to give +10% luck per permanent level, down from +25% per level

✨ Other



  • Damage on various spells have been increased to make damage comparable to using the Axe/Pickaxe
  • Fixes for fish appearance rates
  • Fixed a softlock issue with being able to enter the Builder's Kit while falling asleep/in dialogues,
  • Spellbook now properly shows the "Build" prompt when hovered in the hotbar,
  • "Miaothoven" painting is now placeable,
  • "Disable Minimap" setting now properly persists across level transitions

Meowllo and welcome to the Mines & Magicks update!



For those of you who have been playing since our early access launch in late 2023, thank you very much for sticking with us! The game has come such a long way and changed drastically.



There's more things we'd like to do, such as multiplayer, official modding support, and achievements, but let's get into what is new this patch, first!

πŸͺœ Heading Down



  • Mine layouts can now be reset in the lobby or at the end. The layouts no longer randomize every time you sleep
  • Each mine run is limited to ten floors
  • Each floor has a variety of enemies, resources, and Terminals
  • At each Terminal, you can select a random item, a random processor recipe, or a random buff
  • Buffs are limited to inside the mines...until you upgrade them enough at the end of the run! Upgrade your buffs to have them persist even when you leave


πŸš— Getting Around



  • To aid your different runs through the mines, we have added an upgraded Kart and a Staff
  • The Kart can now be accessed through the front to change out Modules, or the back to access the Trunk for storage
  • You can increase your trunk capacity using BOX units, add a drill onto your Kart with a DIG unit, or even hover and fly with a HOV unit!


β›ˆοΈ Extra Powers



  • Karts can now be customized using Frames and Attachments to change the color or add on accessories
  • The Staff can be used to cast up to 8 different spells

  • Mix and match your two favorite spells and upgrade them with materials from the mine
  • From chained lightning that bounces bolts between enemies to a self-buff that increases your size, play around with your favorite combo!


⛏️ Yearning for the Mines



  • Once you've gathered up a bunch of materials from the mining nodes or enemies, you can take them to a Remnant Loom to process for even more stuff!
  • Simply select a recipe and it'll automatically load in the materials. All you have to sit and watch...and wish for good luck
  • All new questlines, Corps member logs, and crafting recipes to discover


πŸͺ΄ Other Quality of Life



  • You can now track Cultural Center donations. Sort by donated, undonated, or by category!
  • You can now place fish down as buildables to decorate with. The shark is um, large.
  • An added vibrant world theme for those who miss the old days of brighter Snacko
  • Added a short dash! You can now move around faster than ever, even without a Kart
  • Double jump has been reworked to be less confusing: double jump anytime, anywhere! To revert back to the old jump, there's a legacy option in the settings

We are taking a few days break from 0.9.6 to work on some bug fixes and polish.

🎣 Fishing Changes


Looking into some of the drop tables and sell values for fish, I realized that they were, uh, deeply imbalanced. Going through it all, I've made some sweeping changes that should address the feeling of certain fish feeling absolutely useless to catch while others felt overtuned in value for how rare and how early you were able to obtain them.

Increases

  • Catfish 75 β†’ 80
  • Haddock 75 β†’ 180
  • Betta 50 β†’ 200
  • Tilapia 90 β†’ 750
  • Squid 4,800 β†’ 7,800
  • Mystfish 9,800 β†’ 10,000

Decreases

  • Softshell Turtle 320 β†’ 150
  • Clownfish 480 β†’ 230
  • Guppy 400 β†’ 240
  • Angelfish 560 β†’ 300
  • Koi 780 β†’ 320
  • Fire Goby 460 β†’ 340
  • Crawfish 500 β†’ 400
  • Tuna 2,800 β†’ 2,200
  • Great White Shark 8,900 β†’ 8,500

Some of the factors that contribute to these changes include their spawn rate, which biome they appear in first, and how important money is at that point in the MSQ.
For example, the selling price of Haddock was greatly increased to match the change in which they were removed from the town spawn pool, and now mostly found in the Mushroom Forest and beyond.



Spawn Changes

  • Decreased spawn rate of Catfish and Tuna in farm and town
  • Removed spawn of Haddock, Angelfish, Sea Bass and Betta in farm and town
  • Decreased spawn rate of Softshell Turtle and Crawfish in Plains
  • Added Sea Bass an Fire Goby to Desert
  • Added and increased spawn rate of Haddock in Forest and Tundra
  • Increased spawn rate of Salmon in Tundra

Hopefully, with the value changes along with the spawn changes, there will feel like there's more of a progression with the different fish you can find as you go through the game, instead of having too many fish varieties available in the beginning, causing the game to feel stale when you discover new bodies of water.

⛏️ Mines (Legacy)



  • Fixed glitchy elevator audio that wouldn't stop in some cases
  • Increased resource health to prevent some things from dying too easily
  • Fish now appear based on which floor you're on (1/2, 3/4, and 5)

πŸ“ Builder Kit


Floors and Wall dye experience has been improved

  • Previewing no longer breaks the state of the wall/floor and will properly revert itself
  • Dyes should now properly consume and reflect in the UI

✨ Misc



  • 0.9.6 death animation has been added (when you die, how sad)
  • Fire Goby properly added to Desert Canyon's saltwater spawn table
  • Quest board no longer re-focuses onto "reoccuring" tab after accepting a card
  • Fixed issue where the quest "Reel Improvement" couldn't be completed if you had already upgraded your rod at least once

0.9.5_10877 ✏️ Hotbar & Map Fixes

Hey all! Hope you're staying sane. I just wanted to make a small hotfix for a couple minor, but frustrating issues:

Hotbar



  • Fixed an issue where the Hotbar was showing the incorrect action prompt for some items, leading to confusion during tutorial
  • Example: Seeds were showing the action for placing them as a buildable instead of the action prompt for planting
  • This was important to fix for new players, as they aren't yet aware that planting seeds is done with E
  • In the future, this will be updated to show all available prompts
  • Fixed an issue where building from the Hotbar (hovering over an item and pressing "T") was not possible due to the player having full stamina
  • Added a new warning when attempting to build from the Hotbar without a Builder Kit in the player's inventory

Map



  • Fixed issue with players being able to open the map while transitioning between levels or while warping
  • Map will now auto-close if the player enters a dialogue with it open

Misc



  • Fixed issue where Bituin's first friendship event wasn't triggering
