Meowllo, everyone! How's your new year so far? We've been quiet for a bit lately, working hard on 0.9.6: Mines Update. So, I've come here today with a sneak peek at something new, plus some quality of life additions and changes.

You can now toggle resource respawn for town and/or farm under Settings - Tweaks

You can now skip the cooking animation

π What We've Been Working On...
And...that's all for the live changes! Huh? What's this? I was handed a flyer...
With 0.9.6 also comes the ability to dive into the story behind Snacko Island and the mysterious mines. What was project MX18? Was the curse really enacted by the Goddess? What about all this tech that you don't remember seeing back in Capital City?
While exploring the mines, you'll be able to discover some answers to your questions. With your trusty, updated Kart, you'll be able to swap out the frame or use dyes. The Kart will also come with components you can craft and slot into it, including adding storage that you can take with you on the go.
You'll be able to jump out of your Kart and mess with the configuration under the hood to add accessories, change the frame color, or add components to unlock features.
How exciting! Okay, that's all the info you get for now. Back to the mines! (hahahahahaha)
0.9.5_10611 β QoL Update: Auto-swing, auto-advance dialogue + storage lock
Meowllo! We have come to present you with another quality of life update. This will likely be our last bigger update as we head back into the mines to work on 0.9.6.
Without further ado, let's get into the changes this patch!
Auto-swing for tools is now an option under gameplay. You won't be able to perfect charge, but you can toggle this option on to hold down the tool use button
Auto-advance dialogue is now an option under gameplay. You can also toggle this on during a dialogue sequence. The controls for the toggle can be found on the upper right hand corner
Hotkey for quest log added. By default, this is clicking in the right stick of a gamepad or U on keyboard. You can rebind this in the settings
Lock storage containers using the lock button beside the storage container name. This will prevent you from using the items inside while crafting or placing
You can now enter build mode if you're hovering a buildable in your hotbar using the same hotkey or button to eat
The wiki has also been updated so it's accurate when checking how to unlock certain shopkeepers or villagers.
We have some fun stuff planned coming up, so thank you for your patience as we put our heads back down and focus on our next major update!
Please update your game to 0.9.5_10583+
This is a patch to correct any MSQ softlocks and quest autocompletions from yesterday's quest migrations
This should solve issues such as
Walking up to the bush during "What's that sound" doesn't trigger cutscene
Unable to give turnip to scarecrow in the grassy plains
We're sorry for the trouble! If you are on latest version and still experiencing strange issues, please don't hesitate to reach out to us via email ( snacko @ bluecurse . com ) or Discord
Meowllo! Happy holidays~ Both recursive and I have sent you a letter in-game with a little present to celebrate one year of Snacko and the holidays!
Along with that, we've also added some quality of life things and changes...
β Tool Tips
There's...a lot of small things in Snacko that can be overwhelming at first. Reading pages of tutorials isn't everyone's favorite way of digesting information, either. To aid with this, we've added tooltips on hover on some elements in the UI. You can turn off this new feature under "gameplay" in settings.
π¬ Invite ___ Quests
We noticed that a lot of players don't realize you can invite carpenters and alchemists early on in the game, so we've added quests to help guide you in that direction. For those that already have the shopkeepers on your island, you can claim the rewards for these new requests on your save file load
Limitations of Cardboard and Glue (carpenter)
Just Like Magic (alchemist)
Expanding Horizon (villager)
Ordering Out (restaurateur)
β Other Changes
Barns no longer have a capped place limit of four. You can place as many as you want. Whether or not having 99 chickens can do something unexpected in the game... Well, we'll cross that bridge when we get there
Storage and journal notes font have changed to a monospace font. This is personal preference. I like writing down my plans in my journal for each Obelisk and what I want to offer, and having the letters after my - or X not line up when I cross off an item was making me sad
Maximum zoom for camera has been increased. For this change, we've reset everyone's camera zoom level back to the default. You can change this again under "gameplay" in the settings
Hooray! We hope this makes the early game transition into mid game feel smoother. Thank you everyone for your support and your feedback, we'll keep working hard π«Ά
We FINALLYYY fixed that one random mine crash that can happen because there's something sinister at 0,0,0.
Turns out, it's the ceiling piece in the entrance elevator (?) that is cursed.
We have also made some fixes for overall stability, and we'll be continuing to make some small fixes in the upcoming few days.
We've also changed the crash reporter a bit so people knows it's us getting the report. The out of the box bugsplat mentions someone at Epic contacting you, which is not the case. Each bug report pings recursive's phone, he gets nervous, then we fix it.
Just with the short time we've had the updated crash reporter out, we've noticed more people filling out the info, so thank you very much~
Another change is the numbered pages in your catalog not showing the last page with valid items in it, causing a way to lock up your input on gamepad until you switch tabs.
0.9.5_10497 πΊοΈ Updated Map UI
Hooray! So, I played my own file for a few hours yesterday, and tried thinking about what kind of improvements or polish we could do quickly before the start of the Winter Sale.
And we agreed to settle on...
The map!
The map, for the longest time, wasn't too useful. Sure, I guess it told you which way the Grassy Plains were, but that's about it.
So, drum roll please...
Ta-da~! It's also set up better now for us to add more to it in the future when we work on the major updates.
With this map you can...
view villager relationships and if you've given them a gift today
view shop and house names, as well as their opening hours
view barn and livestock names
see where the fishing spots are (yellow fish are freshwater spots, blue fish are saltwater spots)
see where points of interest or warp zones to other areas
The mini-map is also updated to be the same as the main map. Some maps, like the Desert Canyon, should match your position on the map much better now as well.
We hope this helps new and returning players alike. We did sort of um, kind of cram this map into 24 hours of work...so both of us kinda need to go chill out for a day now. Then, it's back to work on the mines.
π¬ Other
Fixed issue with crafting dropdown not being full width
Fixed issue with inconsistent lighting when dropped items get picked up
Fixed issue where sometimes, the sprite could get in the way of your watering...
Fixed issue where you couldn't go through the side door of your barn
Thank you very much for your support~ And don't forget, we'll be 20% off from today until January 2nd! If you have been enjoying Snacko, don't forget to leave us a review and tell your friends about us!
Stay warm πΎ ...Or cool, depending on which side of the equator you are on.
