Our wonderful adventures with Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley continue into LudoNarraCon which is a digital event that takes place on May 9-13 and celebrates interesting and innovative narrative games, hosted right here on Steam!
The aim of the event is to replicate the experience players have during physical conventions but in the digital format - so we’re happy to let you know that we’re participating with the very first Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley Steam discount and a cozy stream where we’ll be sharing wholesome stories from the development of the game as well as discussing the gameplay!
The stream will be hosted by our Sr Community Manager Daria Driver who absolutely loves Moomin and has a substantial experience with the game as well as a few stories about its development, and Helen Morris who is acquainted with Moomin but hasn't had the chance to enjoy the full game yet✨

Minor spoiler: Players will now be able to continue from right before the point-of-no-return when you have completed the game. This means you can now choose to explore Moominvalley as if before the end of the game
Fixed the issue where players were unable to change their game resolution.
Fixed the issue where Little My would get stuck at the entrance of a cave.
Fixed the issue with the save files, where the performance of the game would significantly drop and sometimes result in a crash.
Fixed the issue with dancing police officers (while we love dancing, it was not adhering to the rules the police officers are overseeing)

Throughout the past few days, we have identified a couple of areas for improvement and received reports on issues that we are working to resolve. We are currently working on a patch to be delivered in the near future, addressing several things:

Updated the game icon
Updated video compression settings for Switch for smoother playback
Fixed a number of minor visual glitches
Fixed the issue where language select didn't work with touch

The adventure begins as Snufkin arrives to Moominvalley after the long winter. He discovers it has changed - and not for the better! He finds grotesque parks, gated and patrolled, and sets on a determined mission to get rid of them. As Snufkin, you will pluck park signage, distract Police Officers, and knock over statues. And along the journey, you will also create cherished memories with critters and inhabitants in the valley - forming new friendships and delightful connections.

Inspired by the beloved Moomin stories from Tove Jansson, our musical adventure game is a heartwarming journey to restore harmony in nature. As Snufkin, players will sneak into parks and dismantle the horrid manicured and gated lawns. You will also meet over 50 various creatures and characters, forming wonderful friendships and cherished connections.

Explore our open-world storybook by trekking through forests or leaving fast-fading footprints on the beaches. Set sail for Hattifatteners’ island and step into a lush jungle, meeting the mysterious pale gray-white creatures. Or follow the creeks, jumping over paths made by river rocks and listening to the running water.
Encounter beloved characters from Moomin stories, like the sweet Moominmama and mischievous Little My. Whimsical little critters like worms and black birds who enjoy tunes from Snufkin’s harmonica will also make charmingly helpful appearances in aiding exploration and puzzle-solving. Dramatic spiders, timid creatures like Sniff and Teety-Woo, and the misunderstood, icy Groke fill Moominvalley with colorful personalities and charming interactions.

Today we’d love to provide an overview of our game and a recap of what players can expect during their heartwarming journeys in Moominvalley!
Adventure 🏕️
Spring is here, and Snufkin is on his way back to Moominvalley. He’s looking forward to meeting his good friend Moomintroll again — but he notices radically different changes in the valley. Parks have sprung up in various locations, replacing wildflowers with concrete and songbird songs with silence.
Snufkin’s not one to passively let the valley become overrun by gated parks and rules. He decides to wreak havoc upon them by sneakily removing signs, knocking over statues, and in the end, returning nature to its wild beauty.
Inspiring journey 🎵
Exploration is a key element of our open-world storybook game. Snufkin will need to make his way through various parts of the land to find parks and to confront the person behind it all, The Park Keeper.
Snufkin will travel through lush wilderness, climbing up mountain faces and running along sandy beaches. He uses simple actions to traverse and interact with the world, like pushing and pulling boulders out of the way or setting a log up across a gap.
Snufkin will also play his harmonica and other instruments he unlocks as the journey progresses to interact with the world. A few puffs on the harmonica summons worms to emerge from their holes on the cliff face, becoming a convenient ledge for Snufkin to jump onto and off of.
During travels, Snufkin collects a resource called inspiration. It’s necessary to raise inspiration levels in order to unlock certain areas of the world and to increase the strength of Snufkin’s musical abilities. Inspiration is generated by completing quests, dismantling parks, and from running through bushes.

Lively and loveable friends from Tove Jansson’s Moomin world are dotted across Moominvalley. Teety-Woo, a shy admirer of Snufkin, is one of the first characters you’ll meet. Among many other characters, Snufkin will also find Ninny, the invisible girl, Moominmama and Moominpapa, and the unconfident Ghost.
There are various puzzles and sub-quests related to characters Snufkin will encounter along his journey. For instance, he will help the Ghost overcome its doubt and regain its sense of self. From the mischievous Little My to sassy spiders, Snufkin will meet many unique and memorable characters.
Oh, and yes — the misunderstood Groke will also make her icy entrance. Although initially scary, the Groke isn’t malicious and Snufkin will reach a newfound understanding with her during his journey.

Friends in Moominvalley: Meet even MORE residents!

In our last newsletter, we introduced a few vibrant residents who call Moominvalley home. In this installment, you’ll find more info about other characters like Stinky, Horse, and Ghost! All three are very different from each other. Horse is a diva. Stinky is a mischievous troublemaker. And Ghost is a playful… well, ghost!
Horse
“Oh, I’m fabulous. As always!” ~ Horse
Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who is the fairest of them all?
On the lush Hattifattener’s island, a certain fabulous horse with a flower-patterned coat rests on the shoreside covered in huge clams. With a sway of its luxurious mane, the Horse has a seemingly puzzling request for Snufkin. Can Snufkin find something more beautiful than the Horse?
Ghost
“Aren’t you afraid of me either?” ~ Ghost
Even in the hideous parks, Snufkin can find an un-boo-lievable friend. When the Ghost first meets Snufkin, it has lost its way - unsure of its abilities to scare others. Together with Snufkin, the Ghost will rediscover its true self and grow again, becoming confident and sure!
Stinky
“Hah, as if I care. Catch me if you can!” ~ Stinky
An irate creature who lives for causing trouble, Stinky is usually up to no good. But he’s oddly loveable, with his fuzzy body, two antennas, and wide grin. As expected, Snufkin will encounter the cheeky character through mischief caused by Stinky. And while Snufkin is not one to say no to mischief, he'll need to chase Stinky down for a good cause.
Aside from the parks and patrolling police officers, Snufkin will meet memorable residents all over the valley - like Stinky the gleeful thief or a ghost searching for confidence. Snufkin’s musical abilities won’t only be used to dismantle parks or to get on the Park Keeper’s last nerves. He’ll also help out characters with a tune or two, creating melodies of new friendships and even deeper connections.
