SojournVR

Release 1.1.6a

Hello everyone,

There was no release last week because of the large amount of changes in this patch. The old map has been removed and the first part of the new map has been released, Labistre Training Grounds. The function of the new map is supposed to be mainly for teaching new players the basics of the combat and crafting systems. However when the rest of the map is released, players who leave the training grounds will be able to return. This is to make it easier for people to meetup with their friends who might be new to the game.

This is probably the biggest patch this game has received and it plays like a completely new game. If you haven't played the game in a while, this is a good patch to try.

Release 1.1.2a

Hello everyone,

Release 1.1.2a is now live and available for download. This was a really busy week so I wasn't able to get the crafting updates into this build but I was able to add in blinking/teleportation movement. Blinking has been set to the default for all players but it can be adjusted in the main menu screen if you prefer locomotion.

A release schedule has also been posted for February here: https://www.dettergamedesign.com/index.php/2018/01/30/release-schedule-for-february/

New Features
- Blinking/teleportation movement

Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where Dire Rat Leader wouldn't deal damage
- Fixed an issue where quality settings would get reset when game patches were released

As always I appreciate any feedback you have on the current patch.

Thanks,

John Detter

Release 1.1.1a

Hello everyone,

This patch is mostly combat updates and bug fixes. There are also some small performance upgrades. Occulsion culling has been disabled because it was causing glitches with the terrain and causing performance spikes.

New Features
- New combat NPC (Golem)
- Combat system and damage calculations simplified
- Health now regenerates quickly after 20 seconds of no combat (was 60 seconds)
- Coin bags can now be stacked in the inventory
- Withdraw interface can be used with 1 hand if the other hand is holding something
- NPC names now appear on their dialogue window
- Health bar system updated, shows player and combat npc names
- NPCs drop new items

Bug Fixes
- Fixed issue where player/npc names can flash red
- Items that are in your toolbelt or in an NPC's hand are not inspectable anymore

The patch for next week will contain lots of fixes and improvements to the mining/lumbering/crafting system.

Thanks everyone,

John

Release 1.1.0a

Bug Fixes
- Inventory item duplication bug
- Vive rapid input bug (fixes crafting, dialogue and inventory bugs)

Features
- Item inspector
- Inventory stacking (only affects gold right now)
- Inventory withdraw interface
- More performance fixes, the default setting is now "Best" instead of "Good"

If your machine meets the minimum requirements for VR, then you should be able to run the game on max settings now. If you are still having performance issues, you can try lowering the quality settings. Please contact me on twitter or discord if you are still having performance issues.

Also I will be doing releases every Tuesday from now on (except this Tuesday). I cannot provide a schedule of things that are going to be released in the next few weeks but the development focus will be on crafting and combat upgrades.

If you are have a bug you would like to report, please contact me on Discord or twitter.

SojournVR Patch 1.0.9a

New Features
- Quality settings
- Server browser

Bug Fixes
- NPCs now look at player during dialogue
- Inventory/movement bugs related to lag
- Tons of network stabilty improvements

If you are having trouble running SojournVR on the lowest quality settings, let me know what your hardware specs are and I will either try to better optimize the lowest quality setting or create a new lowest setting.

I can't say for certain what the minimum specs are for the 'best' quality but if you have a GTX 1060 and a modern i5 processor you should be able to run the game with the best quality enabled.

Development is Continuing

Hello everyone,

I would like to offer my sincere apologies about not being transparent over the last two months.

I haven't pushed any updates in quite some time now because we've been in sort of a long-drawn-out legal battle. We were having a ton of legal issues with our company and the game so we suspended development until we were sure that we could continue development on SojournVR.

The legal issues with the game have now been resolved and the development can continue.

I will also be taking a lot more input from the community and I will be using the twitter more frequently. I know there are a lot of issues with the game right now but I'm working hard to make the experience better. If you want to give feedback on the game please leave a review or tweet at me.

Happy new year all,

-- John
