  • Added 'Global stats' tab in 'View stats' dialog
  • Added setting to disable single click card selection
  • Rules window: Game list now auto-scrolls to selected game
  • Free play list: Columns may now be re-ordered (drag them left/right)
  • Free play list: Selected game is persisted
  • Free play list: Column re-ordering and sorting is now persisted

Usability and help improvements

Rank indicators on empty piles

Empty foundation piles have always been labelled with the rank of card that must be played on them.

This labeling has now been extended to other types of piles. No label means any rank may be played onto the pile. A large X means that the player is not allowed to move any cards onto the pile. Otherwise, the pile is labeled with the rank(s) allowed.

Improved help with animated rules

The help/rules window has been updated to include an image with the annotated layout of each variant. A 'Show gameplay' button has also been added, which will animate moves according to the rules of the selected variant. These should help players better understand the mechanics of each game.

Other changes

  • Seed number is now displayed on the game summary dialog
  • Arizona: Changed difficulty rating from Very Easy to Medium
  • Variegated Canfield: Changed difficulty rating from Very Hard to Hopeless

A few minor fixes and changes

  • Fixed bug with 'Show rules' not selecting current game by default
  • Escape from New York: Fixed rules
  • FreeCell: Changed difficulty rating from Very Easy to Easy
  • Gargantua (no redeal): Changed difficulty rating from Very Hard to Hopeless
  • Pyramid: Changed difficulty rating from Medium to Hopeless

Misc fixes and improvements

Today's patch has some fixes and improvements:

  • Alt+Enter now toggles between full screen and windowed mode
  • F11 full screen toggle hotkey now works at the profile selection screen
  • Rules can now be shown in the game window or in a separate window (new setting)
  • Added a column to the free play grid that shows whether or not a variant has an in-progress saved game
  • Drastically reduced memory usage of game

Solitaire Expeditions journeys out of Early Access

With today's update bringing the variant total to 150, I felt the time was right to move Solitaire Expeditions out of Early Access.

I will continue to support the game with bug fixes and difficulty rating adjustments, along with occasional new content.

If you are enjoying the game, please leave a Steam review - it really helps.

Thanks for playing!

10 new variants and a new difficulty rating

Today's update includes 10 new variants along with a new difficulty rating: Hopeless. This rating is reserved for games that have less than a 1% chance of winning, so good luck with those!

Pyramids and Pairs : 20 New Variants

Greetings!

This is the single biggest content update I've done for Solitaire Expeditions: A new family of 20 variants! This brings the total number of variants to 140.

The new family is called "Adding/Matching" and all involve adding card values together or matching cards in rank. Some of these variants don't require any strategy and are quick & easy to play, while others can require planning out an entire series of moves to be successful.

Without further ado, here are the 20 new variants.

Objective: Discard pairs of cards whose ranks add up to 13

Steam Remote Play on Tablet/Phone now enabled

Using the Steam Link app, you can now play Solitaire Expeditions from your tablet or phone!

I tested this with both my Android phone and iPad. The performance is not amazing, but it's certainly playable. Not a bad option if you want to play some solitaire from your couch :).

5 new variants added

And Now for Something Completely Different

Today's update adds 5 new variants that offer gameplay that's different from the Klondikes and Spiders of the world. Instead of building on a tableau or moving cards to foundations, these games revolve around laying out all of the cards in a deck and arranging them in particular way.

Gaps

The goal of Gaps is to arrange cards into rows of in suit sequences from Two to King. Cards may be moved around according to the following rules:

  • A gap may be filled with a card that creates an in-suit sequence with the card to the left of the gap
  • Only a Two may be placed in the leftmost position of each row
  • A gap to the right of a King may not be filled

There are two redeals. A redeal will pick up all cards that are not part of a valid sequence. Removed cards are shuffled and redealt, leaving spaces between the existing sequences and the shuffled cards.

Double Gaps

Double Gaps is simply Gaps with two decks. All rules are the same.

Addiction

Addiction plays identically to Gaps, with the exception of the redeal rules. In Addiction, you get 3 redeals and the open spaces after the redeal will be in random locations.

Maze

The goal of Maze is to arrange 48 cards into 4 ascending suit sequences, each from Ace to Queen, from left to right. The following rules apply to moving cards:

  • Rows are considered continuous and run left to right and top to bottom
  • A card may be placed into a gap if it creates a same suit sequence with the card on the left or on the right of the gap
  • For example, a 4 of hearts may be placed into a gap if the card on the left is a 3 of hearts OR the card on the right is a 4 of hearts
  • Gaps to the right of a Queen may be filled with an Ace of a different suit (or with a card that creates a sequence on the right side of the gap)
  • Gaps to the left of an Ace may not be filled unless it creates a sequence with the left side of the gap

There is no redeal.

Accordion

The goal of Accordion is to move all cards into a single pile. Any pile can be moved onto the pile to its left, or the pile third to its left, if the top cards of the piles match in either suit or rank.
